At first I was like, "THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL?! Damn." Then I realized that it's an arts high school and it made sense to me why all of these kids are extremely talented! Wow. I'm speechless.

I was Stage Manager of a professional version of RENT in London 2 years ago, and this matches easily the excellent rendition of the song that we did.

Great job! I saw Thomas in the Lower Ossington Theatre production of Rent this year (I believe he was ensemble, not Collins) - saw that production three times! So good.
i'm speachless... and i think at one point forgot to breathe because I was so focued and absorbed in your performance. Thomas that was incredible, so much passion and control, beautiful beautiful beautiful. I always heard it back stage, so it's a pleasure to finally see what everyone else saw- lucky ducks :P ♥

Kxisisjdjkskdijdjjskdos soooooo good!!!! This part of the musical is one of the hardest to pull of not because of vocals, but because of the emotional investment it needs. And you did it!
This might be a little odd but I used to be obessed with RENT back in high school and this song is particular. I found this cover about five years ago my sophmore year of college. I'm now 21 and I thought of this cover in partcular after watching Tick, Tick... Boom. I really hope this kids have been able to doing something in the theater or music in general.

Okay. I need to know who these singers are. I’m trying to convince my school to perform Rent but I’m really the only singer in our drama (shocking, I know). My best friend can sing but she has horrible stage fright. We need those voices!

malindizoo But the starting lines seem to be an octave higher. It's a part designed for a baritone, this guy is not a baritone.
Blazara With that logic, you're telling me that a woman/whoever - alto/soprano/other could never sing this song in her/their key? Clearly, you mustn't be a singer. Songs can be covered, in whatever octave - or key that fits the natural range of the singer. That is part of the magic of singing and the magic of live performances without vocal and digital editing.
ILuverzRENT No; what I'm saying is that this song was not written to be sung this high with the character in mind.
Blazara Honestly it doesn't really mind. It wasn't designed to be sung this high by the original cast but changing octaves in a song if it still fits with the real cast is one of the things that matter the least IMO. I preffer hearing an octave higher and have someone do a stunning performance as this then seeing the original key and pulling a meh performance. I don't believe everything has to be exactly as planned....that's the beautiful of live acting, every performer has there own twist to it
