This show's music and broadway numbers are terrific, definitely on professional level, but the rest of it is a boring soapy opera with endless hookups and breakups. Katherine McPhee has a beautiful voice and she really brought out the freshness and innocence of Norma Jeane. She can sing, she can dance, but to be honest, she can't act. Also, once in a well Karen or Ivy suddenly begins to sing a pop song just to express the character's current state of mind, which totally weirds me out.

There was a concert reading of the full Hit List show with Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez soon after Smash ended (clips and the full audio of it are on youtube if you search 'Hit List 54 Below'). It's not much but it's better than nothing...

I can't count the number of times I have rewatched/bingewatched it. This type of television is so what is needed right now. Redo....better yet, 3rd season of SMASH. And though I know this list is just original stuff....but "Light Up" is the best song of the entire show.

Let's Be Bad will forever be my favorite Smash song, Megan Hilty's acting is crazy impressive, and those lyrics are ridiculously intelligent

Megan and Katherine both sing on key and on pitch so perfectly... They can both belt at the same time without their voices eclipsing each other... For example in "Let me be your star", on the last high note you still here both of their voices distinctly... I also once couldn't decide which version of "Don't forget me" I liked better so I decided to edit them both together into a duet just like "Let me be your star" and both versions fit so seamlessly together... There is no comparison between these two... Both are talented... And we can all be a fan of them at the same time...

I remember being absolutely blown away by the choreography in "I Heard Your Voice In A Dream" - so cool, and it fit so well within the Hitlist storyline.
I'm surprised "Rewrite This Story" wasn't technically on the list - I had that song, more than any other from the show, stuck in my head. It's a catchy earworm
Carlie Allred I Heard Your Voice has always been one of my favorites. Another Hit List song that I always loved to watch again is the goodbye song

"Dont' Forget Me" should have been #1. It's not only a great song, but it clearly underscored the arrival of Debra Messing's character as an uber-Broadway writer/lyricist. I also really enjoyed "I'm Not Sorry" and "Touch Me".

People were too harsh on Smash and especially on poor Kat McPhee who is incredibly talented. I hope Netflix brings this show back to life with the same cast.
No, Netflix won't, because NBC will launch its own streaming service and put it on there.
Sorry , Kat was so auto-tuned and processed we don’t hear her real voice most of the time.

Danny Hidalgo I never said she wasn’t talented. After watching the “Bombshell” concert where we heard her natural, unprocessed voice it was clear she had a good voice. It was a shame we didn’t hear more of her natural voice in the series. That’s what I meant.
I didn't mind Karen. She is talented. My problem was they were trying to fit her in this Merylin role with a lot of gutsy and very big broadwayesque notes that her voice was not suited for. It fit Megan's voice much more.
Even though the storyline tapered way off in season 2, and I wasn't a fan of Hit List, the music is still incredible. Bombshell within the context of the show was amazing and original and I still listen to it's soundtrack all these years later. It was also really fascinating, as a major Broadway nerd, for me to see exactly how a show is structured and the process of this, from casting, workshops, rewrites, rehersals, previews, off-broadway and Broadway. I loved it from that perspective, even if I did find Karen annoying at times.
Ok this list is pretty accurate however I feel as if Secondhand White Baby Grand deserves to be on the list and not in the honorable mention and I feel as if The Goodbye song should have made honerable mentions

Second Hand White Baby Grand should be on the list for sure, and They Just Keep Moving The Line should have a better position too, specially because Ivy's rendition was beyond perfection
"I Heard Your Voice in a Dream" might just be my absolute favorite song from "Smash"...I think Jeremy Jordan's vocals are gorgeous and are complemented by a breathtaking instrumental. Never mind the amazing choreography in the number and it's just perfect to me

I liked the Hit List songs much more than the Bombshell songs but this was one of my favorites from that one.
Happy to see “Moving the line”, “Mambo” and “Smash”, but "A Thousand and One Nights" and ESPECIALLY “Touch Me” deserved to be mentioned at least!
The best thing, love the show or hate it, was the songs!! Still listen to the songs every once and a while still to this day!! Thank you Smash for my soon to be deep love of broadway today ☺️❤️🎶

This show is a lesson in how musicals are made. When I saw the video with the cast of The Greatest Showman singing, I understand at what stage of the process of creating the movie they were, because of Smash.
I love series or movies that's about behind the scene of the making of movies, TV series, Broadway shows. It gets me closer to see how these art form are created as well as appreciating the people behind it. I mean, I wouldn't mind a TV series about the making of Hamilton 😂

The Jeremy Jordan version from the reunion concert is truly the superior version however. He murdered any thought of the orignal

I still cannot believe it got canceled. I was in love. The production, the costumes, the musical numbers, the acting. Still one of my favorite shows to date. The soundtrack is stellar just like the cast. I miss it so much.

This was the best song in the series. I just rewatched both seasons and I was a mess at the end of this number.

I was sad when the ratings dropped. I worked when Smash came on...I could only watch OnDemand. I wish it had a couple more seasons. 😭😭😭😁😁
I still bop to these songs all the time!! Smash may have had some odd story lines and was DRAMATIC AF but the SONGS WERE SOOO GOOD. FIGHT MEEEEE.
The first season was brilliant. The second was really meh, but I loved Julia and Tom, the storyline between Julia and the guy playing Joe Dimaggio, and Ivy. Plus so many actual broadway stars were in this - Megan Hilty, Brian D'arcy James, Bernadette Peters, Christian Borle, Leslie Odom Jr,. As well as future Broadway stars (Kat McPhee and Jeremy Jordan went on to star in Waitress together). Plus Phillippa Soo guest starred! I was always amazed at the little nuances like that, despite the dwindling storylines.
I loved that Show, the actors, their voices and especially absolutely loved the songs. I still hear them (especially the songs from their musical hit list). So sad that this show ended so soon. I would've loved to see and hear more of it.
I LOVED that show. The writing of season 2 was crappy but the songs were amazing. They really should turn them into real musicals.

Ivy honestly has the star power and vocal power. Plus she spent 10 years in the chorus, she deserves this! She embodied the sexiness and confidence of Marilyn way more too.
Karen showcased Marilyn's innocence and vulnerability, which was important to see too. It was almost like Karen was Norma Jean and Ivy was Marilyn Monroe. This possibly would have worked within the context of the musical as well. Karen for one half, Ivy for the other.

While I commend your attempt to list the amazing music from this show you probably should have divided the Bombshell and Hit List! Into their own respective lists.
Two of the most memorable to me were “A Thousand and One Nights” and “(Let’s Start) Tomorrow Tonight.”
JHud's i Can't Let Go is my absolute fave but sadly not on the list.
My bff watched every episode of this show together. I remember towards the end when they moved it to Friday nights and hadn't announced if it was renewed or cancelled (but the writing was on the wall) we would cry SO HARD at the sad parts of the show because we were really crying for the show😭
