    I bring home $1k a week after all expenses for 60 hours. No commute, no dress code, no schedule, no boss, no micromanagement, no stress, can break whenever, easy money. Drive an old Prius, paid 4800 cash for it, after 100k miles I'll still be able to sell it for 3k...that's how you keep most of your earnings. People in the comments must be driving a McLaren, saying the cost to operate is 90¢ per mile, fuck outta here. My gas is .04 ¢ a mile.

      Same here man, I drive a 2014 Hyundai Elantra with 50k miles and it's already paid for and gets roughly 35mpg all day long. Small tires too, so they're very cheap when they need to be replaced. Easy money. The people who complain are the people who have no idea what being "self employed" means, and are driving an SUV getting 18mpg.

    man, I really liked your video and I already subscribed. I have a question: what's the advantage of renting a car thru the express driver thing with Hertz and driving your own car? I heard that with your own car of course there's too much depreciation, but also with the rental, one doesn't get all the perks the app is supposed to offer.

    • @MicahJohns
      @MicahJohns  6 лет назад

      Elias Andrade Junior I’m not sure because I haven’t rented. I would imagine that would be good for if you don’t have your own car that fits the criteria for Lyft, but you want to work.
      Thats what i always saw it as.
      Thanks for the sub, cheers.

  • @Clarkbar79

    I paid off a 4 year car loan in 1 year driving for lyft. So tell me what's the depreciation on a paid off car idiots. Cars lose value regardless. Yeah you might make a little more money as a trade in with less miles but it won't be more than the money you make driving. Also it allows me more tax deductions. If you single or don't have kids it's hard getting write offs. Depends on market but minus expenses I average $14 a hour. Please tell me a job where you can work when you want with no boss or b.s. and make 14 bucks a hour? I'll wait

      JC clarke Since Uber and Lyft do not offer a 401K, I’ve been strongly advised to sign up for Robinhood and get penny stocks. You can also get ETF’s if you’re style is not aggressive. It’s been working great for me. If you get the app with my link be both get a scratch off stock. Somebody got an Amazon stock and sold it immediately. Here’s the link:

    Retired Air Force. Live in Tampa FL. Started with Lyft three months ago roughly. I was a bit hesitant at first with all the horror stories you hear from other Lyft drivers on RUclips. Been doing it off and on. Three trips minimum per day. I am not planning on picking up any drunks though so no clubs or anywhere else people have been drinking. Would rather lose that income. Don't want to deal with the drama and possibly end up on an episode of COPS or LIVE PD. ;) lol

      Marvin Romero I really never got into using an app, but there are some good ones out there if you search for "mile tracker". quickbooks has something i'm sure.
      Lyft isn't terrible at driver support but just apply and then go through that process, which is pretty straightforward and guided, if you have more questions check out driver groups on facebook for driver support

    To ALL DRIVERS, STOP giving automatic 5 Star rating to Riders.
    Stop, Stop, Stop !!! All Riders Start at 4 Star Rating , then work up or down depending on the Quality of the rider. Just because a rider got in, got out and paid, Does NOT justify a 5 Star rating.
    Just like ALL Drivers have to work and strive for 5 Stars, so should ALL Riders.
    All riders start at 4 stars, then go up or down depending on the Quality of the rider.
    I am tired of seeing an Obvious 1 star rider with a 5 star rating. 1 Star Riders should be on a bus or a bike, Not having the Privilege of riding in your car and getting 5 star service.
    Yes people, it is a Privilege to ride in a nice, clean car and receive 5 star service for a riders measly $5 to $10.
    Drivers, this is the Only job in the world that you have the ability to Rate and Review a customer / rider. Don't let your rate go to waste. By properly rating a rider you are helping other drivers be safe and create a positive environment.
    Let me remind you, if a driver gets a 4.6 or lower rating You Get Deactivated. Bye bye. ..
    What happens when a rider gets a 4.6 or lower rating? ??? U hear those crickets yet....that's right, Absolutely Nothing happens to the rider. 4.3, 3.9, 3.1 rating. ..nope, sorry, nothing happens to the rider. And if for some Miracle the rider does get deactivated, they open another account in about 60 seconds.
    What can you do if you get deactivate. .....nothing.
    So, Use Your Power of rating and reviewing riders to keep the ride share community safe and positive. This is Ride Share, Not Ride Slave!!!
    Don't be afraid to rate riders 1 star.
    And if you think your going to give a rider a 3 or 2 star, just go ahead and hit the 1 star to be sure it actually has an affect on them.
    In my opinion, DON'T pick up riders below 4.6 star rating. This will send a message to riders to shape up and be thankful that they are Privileged to get such a fantastic service for their crappy and ridiculous $5.

    You're very cute and I think you did a great job explaining what to expect as a lyft driver for beginners and people who are considering it. However, I do not recommend quitting a job. If you're on a job making $11 an hour, it's not costing you anything except your time. Ridesharing if I earn $11 an hour, I have to break off some of that for several different car expenses. So how much am I really making an hour? I drive for Lyft because although I work full time, I still need extra money to keep paying the bills. I think driving for Lyft part time is better than getting a part time job because I work when I want, and if I'm sick or have an appointment somewhere, I can just turn the app off and I won't have to worry about getting reprimanded or fired. By the way, people in the military also drive for Uber or Lyft.

      Top flight because Lyft refuses to be accountable for anything...I questioned how can they deactivate drivers if their low ratings are due to passengers having problems with the app itself...their answer is always...”well, that’s subjective I guess”. So I persist, “when are you folks gonna take responsibility for issues passengers have with the app? Why don’t you inform passengers that ALL ratings affect driver and could cause them to get fired.” Lyft answer is always, “ummmmmmm”.

    THE MAIN FACTOR is that the RIDER is only paying .90 CENTS PER MILE! The cost to drive a car 🚗 is about .90 CENTS PER MILE! You are not getting paid for your LABOR! You are driving people around for TIPS! You are destroying and depreciating your CAR 🚗! What you are cashing out is the depreciation on your car at the rate of .80 cents per mile! Your day job is POSITIVE INCOME! Lyft is all expenses, depreciation, risk ! YOU ARE NOT PAID LABOR BY LYFT! RIDESHARE IS A SCAM !

      How much money can you squeeze out of .90 cents per mile that the customer is paying ?! The cost to operate your car including gas, depreciation, maintenance, is about .90 CENTS per mile! Please do not destroy your car 🚗 for these rideshare companies! If it was GOOD to use their own CARS then why don't they do that? Because they don't want all the expenses, risk, and debt!

    • @marlalay7587
      @marlalay7587 7 лет назад +4

      oscarmonroy27 That's exactly right. You are "selling" you car a few bucks at a time & giving your time & labor away for free to Lyft. Even if they gave you a free car & a gas card you won't earn much. Certainly not as much as they advertise that you can make. It's false advertising. I don't know how they get away with this scam. We used to have laws & people used to have character.

    • @justin_Koenig
      @justin_Koenig 7 лет назад +6

      Depreciation?? Most of these cars (mid size sedans have no resale value at all either way and if brought used its only a couple thousand same as driving to a normal job. Can make that in 2 weeks. Have to run it as a business. Get cash back through lift, your credit card, and rewards card for the gas station you use and can save 20-30 cents a gallon easy, tires last 40,000 miles easy if you do not drive like a tard. So 500 dollars thats one weekend pay from lyft. Dress nice, have water, clean car, and tips come in easy. Oil change is 30 bucks at local repair shop and or learn how to change the oil yourself. Learn how to change your brakes yourself. maintenance is a only expensive if you hire it out because of labor costs. Don't drive around like a tard to find another ride, wait. If you take care of your car can make it last 300,000 miles. Have your referral code with you and give to passengers when they sound interested. Easiest money in the world. I just do it as a side hustle but people who say its not profitable either has never tried it or didn't run it like a business because technically that is what it is. You can run it efficiently or pee money down the drain.

    Uber/lyft, refuse to learn from history . But history has shown, time and time again, that greed leads to downfall...They could double the minimum fare, and the Uber/Lyft services would still be more pleasant, punctual, and less expensive than a cab. Putting wear and tear on drivers car, for less than minimum wage is pretty insane.

    Do the math $1,200 /$1600 a month.... some ppl who really go out of there way to make ends meat can make $2,500/$3,500 # month

      See, I don't understand where your "Aha!" moment is here. Lyft is a way to make an average income, I never claimed it would make you a millionaire. You're telling me to do the math and then telling me exactly what I'm stating in this video.
      Lyft is a cool way to make money in whatever way you see fit. It isn't a get rich quick scheme or anything like that ..just to clarify for anyone out there who couldn't figure that out for themselves already.

    Since Micah has a lyft referral code prominently placed here, don't believe a word he says. He only wants the bonus he will get from your signing onto Lyft. Same thing for the RideShareGuy. He tries to appear impartial, but you really can't be when you stand to gain by generating new drivers for these companies.

    • @MicahJohns
      @MicahJohns  6 лет назад +1

      Linda Lea McAndrews of course I want the bonus for referring drivers. That doesn’t mean that I’m decieving people with my videos to get them to drive with Lyft. I genuinely had a great time driving for Lyft, it worked out very well for me, and I feel like it will work out the same for anyone who follows my driving advice.
      Don’t just assume i’m some evil scammer because I get a bonus for telling people about a good opportunity.

      I hope this comment ends up right at the top, so people can read my reply and figure out what they think for themselves.
      People who think like you probably have too much negativity in their lives to succeed at something like this, so... wouldn’t be a good fit anyway.

      +Lala Smith of course you have to account for them. You’re 1099’d so.. i’d get with a CPA to see what you can write off, etc. For most people who do lyft as a side gig it’s not a super serious deal/change taxes much.

      I never worked exactly the same hours, some weeks I would just slack and only drive weekends and make like 300-400 for 2-30 hours, and other weeks if I did like 40-50 It would be like $700 minimum.

      That's such a variable cost though. If you drive a Prius vs an F150 you're going to have vastly different costs. Of course, there are some vehicles that are terrible to drive Lyft in, but not everyone is losing money doing this. That's just not true.

    What are you consuming my friend? Did you make your numbers ? What about car depreciation, oil change, tickets, the possibility of having an accident, people tearing your car because it is no their car, etc,etc,etc..... woke up my friend, if somebody hits your car they are going to block your account even if your car still is working well, and you only have an scratch on your bumper. Be realistic my friend, could you support a family with this? When your car gets broken, do you think they are going to worry for you? No, trust me, not. They are just going to get another stupid to cover that hole. On the other side , companies like Lyft and Uber are perjudicial to real cab companies and real taxi drivers who use to make a decent living with their work . Did you think about all of this. USE YOUR BRAIN MY FRIEND,YOU DON’T HAVE YOUR HEAD AS A DECORATION ONLY!

  • @fenderguitars6050
    @fenderguitars6050 7 лет назад
