Awesome video, straight to the point but doesn't skip out on some funnies. It's crazy how much depth you can squeeze out from this combat system which seems simple at first lmao.
I do love that you call yourself a martial artist This game is the closest thing we get to teaching actual armed and unarmed body mechanics. Coming from a HEMA + MMA background, a lot of prior knowledge applies which is so fun to see
I bought Exanima in 2016, and I'm still flailing while moving backwars and screaming profanities at the PC screen. Best tactics. Also GTO is o̶n̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ the greatest anime of all time.
Whats funny is that I have played this game 70 hours now with barely any online tutorials, and I just realised now that I have already accidentally been landing multiple head hits XD.
How about a vid on landing overheads? Higher level AI will sidestep them, and the swing arc isn't too consistent especially while moving around, making it trickier to hit headshots than if you were to just do a horizontal swing. Of course it could just be a skill issue, but I'm curious to see if anyone has the same experience with overheads as I do.
Yes it's hard. The best thing to do is attack during or just after their swing. If the move then mouse drag, because you character can change the direction of the swing
hey, prof gil, i always hit my left to right swings towards the head. but i can't hit anything on my right to left. i do everything, swing and then use the cursor to position my character in 90 degrees. do i need to put my cursor near the target's head or something like that?
No, the game doesn't care what you're pointing at. In 3d space, the cursor exists at waist height and only turns your hips so when you aim right at the head you're actually aiming your hips to the left of the target. I compensate for that with what I described as a touch to the right. You can get some more control over the swing timing with W before turning or D while turning, as if to deliver the animation to them. If this doesn't help, you can try bringing some clips to the bare mettle discord - discord.gg/y5NuAytA3y
@@GilGamesHello i just found out, it was the distance between me and the target (im a afraid man to get close to targets since they keep swinging nonsenseless at the air)

Gil, true master of arms. Another great video
GilGames out here making soldiers

The professor is easily the best trainer for physics based combat one can ask for
For some reason I thought this would be about aiming thrusts. Still very useful; entertaining too.
This is what I'm saying. You can aim thrusts by just putting the cursor on the head. I have stabbed opponents in the eye that wear a helmet.
The more you wrangle the engine, the more realistic the techniques become
Great work, Mr. Maul Man
DAYUM this some next level teaching WITH BREAKDOWNS!

The voice acting is fuckin hilarious, amazing job Gil
Sick, more of those please :D
Great video professor
I really gotta brush up on my basics, so this really helped haha
Also that episode of GTO is pretty great
Great edits, honestly beyond helpful! Another great vid!

I click like and comment for algorithms

Epic vid.
I definitely suck at Exanima but I feel like I suck a little less since watching Gil
incredible
GTO reference = suscribed

these swings are so difficult for me because the body/player would just turn a whole 360 during a fight
It's not true that the swing always goes down. If you cursor over the head he will adjust his swing to hit the head
x)
Can you do any movement tutorial video? all this good but useless when your character moves like chicken wing

It is a shame bm doesn't allow us to control the animations, we have to rely on this cheesy way of doing it
Brother... 💀
