Hosea 8:7 "For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no flour; if it were to yield, strangers would devour it."
Had the exact same thoughts you did. Heard the song before, a lot - could listen to it endlessly. It's perfection in a subtle understated way, like so many Katatonia songs. No part demands too much attention, yet every part offers and delivers just that bit more than is needed to make it just a good song. Easy to overlook, but indeed.. 'where is your soul?'
Really digging the way you feel Katatonia. I feel the exact same feelings and emotions from this song and others that you had reacted. Listen to I am Nothing, For My Demons or In Death a Song from Tonights Decision, Teargas From Last Fair Deal Gone Down, just to name a few more. Sanctitude record where they played at a beautiful place, acoustically incredible, you need to listen to that as well. Now, another band that you need to listen: LEPROUS. Pitfalls is the last album, Malina, Coal and The Congregation are also amazing records. Give a chance to these guys, i bet you will love Leprous and maybe find another favourite band :) Listen to Pitfalls and then move on to the previous. Keep doing this reactions, really appreciated.
@@sonicallydisruptive Great! Don't know if you have done any Leprous reaction, would be apreciated. Keep doing more Katatonia reactions as well, something from Last Fair Deal Gone Down or Tonight's Decision, any song/whole album :)
So far their best album. I played a few songs for my mom (she is 69 years old) and later that week when i called her guess what record she just bought? 😉
@@sonicallydisruptive I belive so yes. She loves a lot of rockbands unless its growl and screaming 😎 Queen,Ozzy,Dio and Deep Purple are her favorits though.
You should try Ayreon; -Age of shadows / We are forever, starring Anneke von Giersbergen (The Gathering, devin towsend project), Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Floor Jansen (After Forever), Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation), among many other artists - or Day 1: Isolation, with James LaBrie (Deam Theater), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), Devin Townsend among many other artists Basically Arjen lucassen, the guy behind Ayreon, gathers many artists from famous metal bands to permorm "space operas"
Listen to Bloodbath! Jonas compose a lot of musics of the band. Try "wretched human mirror" with Mikael (opeth) on vocals and "fleischman" with Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost on vocals
What more can i say about this band that i haven't through your journey :) Caligula's Horse is kind of dominating my ears and spirit hard right now man. I know you're planning on graves. I have a reccomendaton if you're privy to it. In Contact is a masterful concept album that follows artists and some of their pitfalls and struggles. Dream the Dead is an alcoholic painter who is trying to quit to save his life, but he only creates his best work when he's not sober. Anyways. I'm not saying full album reaction, but i could tell you the biggest tracks that would be best to record. 2. Wills Song is very fun. More of a simple jammer if you want that 3. Hands are the Hardest is very emotional. Takes huge advantage of the band's ability to create these moments were the music swells up. 5. Songs for No One. ESSENTIAL LISTEN!! Amazing song!! 6. Inertia + the cannons mouth. Inertia is a great spoken word intro before the canons mouth absolutely slays it. Essential. Also has a pro shot live recording that includes both tracks in one go. Then of course the epic epic epic finale of Graves. Btw if you've followed they have a series of videos where they're breaking down each song on Rise Radiant and it's such a good listen. At the end of the one for Autumn and The Ascent they say how much they love the reactions, so maybe Sam has seen that face you make 😁
I love this song too. Have you heard Imperiet from Sweden? It's a band from the 80's, I just thought that might be something odd that you haven't heard. They are not a metal band but they are cool though. They sing mostly in Swedish: ruclips.net/video/L4y9g-2RbXY/видео.html Bathory you've probably heard of, they are also from the 80's and then are metal. I guess this is part of Katatonia's heritage: ruclips.net/video/0ZYa5-LWAYQ/видео.html Some great bands have come out of Sweden.
"If I sow a wind, I will reap a storm"
Katatonia's lyrics evoke incredible imagery and emotions at times.
Hosea 8:7 "For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no flour; if it were to yield, strangers would devour it."
"if you don't like this song.... where's your soul??" that's all folks.
Nothing beats Jonas' voice. Katatonia's my favorite band and it's so cool to see that you've reacted to so many of their songs!
Katatonia is my favorite band too
you can´t go wrong with Katatonia
I think this is my favorite Katatonia song, but I say that after most of them so...
Such a gem, one of my favorites... check out the Sanctitude version now.
Will do.

I loved this song the first time I heard it. Perfectly balanced.
You are right on that.

Agreed. As far as Leprous, they are one of my favorite bands. Coal is one of my all time favs and Pitfalls was my album of the year. Thanks!

I do need to check that out. Some of my favorite vocalists in one song!
There are a couple songs of Ayreon with Jonas here on youtube, it's so cool to listen to Jonas in that setting.
Just amazing
True
i love this song! nice review
Cool I will subscribe. Katatonia is my love
Lovely guitars!

Graves will be up soon. Once again, you were right!
It's like being a drug dealer.. the product pushes itself 😂🤣
You gotta listen to the sanctitude version of this
I will soon
I think Opeth and Katatonia have had or still have same producer. (Both from same town I think?) Correct me if I remember this wrong...
I love this song too.
