PIKE FISHING WITH DEADBAITS on a 250 acre lake!

You join me for a day session on the mighty Cheddar Reservoir in pursuit of some pike on dead bait tactics.
It's a monsterous 250+ acres of water and has been home to some BIG pike over the years. It can be productive on the right day with favourable conditions, but it can also be a bit of a headbanger as its such a huge space of water!
It's the last place you'd want to be in a big storm as it gets WILD!!!

Good to see your using stronger test curve rods on this older video, they would have been better on your latest video especially when using mono, as I mentioned, lots of stretch, hence why your hooks weren’t setting at 15 yards along the bank 👍

In this video it made sense to use heavier gear, I was also using braided mainline as fishing at long range. I appreciate your feedback, but I don’t see the rod was the problem on the other video. The issue was the fish only taking the head of the fish and running with the bait without turning the dead in their mouth where the hooks could find a hold. The baits had no teeth marks around the hooks and the bottom section of the baits which explains the dropped takes.
