Major K-beauty enthusiast here and I really enjoyed this video! I found James’ rankings interesting. I heartily agree with his ranking of Cosrx. I love that brand!! I wish though that he maybe would have ranked Mamonde, Skinfood, Dr. Jart, Belief, Dewytree, A’Pieu and It’s Skin. Maybe do a part 2, James? And. It is just me or is James wearing a Blackpink t-shirt?!
Just the other day I rediscovered and re- fell in love with the Hada Labo SPF.😍 It was the first Asian sunscreen I ever got and it was off of your recommendation!! Don't love that it's in a pot, but it feels like water on the skin and it'sso moisturising!! Absolutely adore in winter!😍😍😍

When you do these videos, can you add the brand names in the description box? It was hard for me to know what brand you were talking about sometimes and the picture were too small to figure it out. I love Kbeauty also and want to check some of them out but didn't catch all of the names. TYIA
I'm in love with Purito products, specially Centella range, even if I have dry skin it suits me very well. And I saw Olive Young brand is so popular inside korea, I hope they will launch their products globally.
I am in love with Glow Recipe. I’m a 55-year-old with very oily skin that also is starting to get fine lines. I resisted this brand because I thought it was for teenagers but received the watermelon toner in a subscription box and fell in love. Now I am buying pieces that I want to try with the blueberry bounce cleanser and the papaya cleansing balm the next two purchases
I actually gasped when you said you haven’t tried Pyunkang Yul. So good. Also, I would have put I’m From on the top tier, but we have different skin types. I’m really dry and so many of their lines work great for me. I haven’t tried much glow recipe because the price is high, but I think the Dew Drops may finally make me pull out my wallet.
did u try benton? idk why but i seem to love their products but i havent tried any yet so yesh, i also have dry skin so would u recommend them or not? and do u know a nice cleanser for dry skin?
Pyunkang Yul is the definition of no bullshit skincare. Their moisture cream has been my moisturiser for almost a year (one jar lasts for almost 6 months). I'm now testing out their sunscreen after the Purrito disappointment. Let's see how that turns out. The formula so far is amazing tho 👌
@@niknursyahida6789 Hey! I use it daily and I would definitely recommend it. My skin also often used to get oily but it hasn't gotten worst. The cream's texture is a bit on the heavier side when you touch it but on the skin it feels very light and cool. After the application it leaves my skin hydrated but not matte or shiny. I would say totally give it a try if it sounds like it's for you!
James! I loved this video! I would say the last three brands that you haven’t used you should totally give them a chance. Would love a review for each of brands. Also thank you for talking about the Purito and Keep Cool Scandal. I’ll be waiting for a full video where you further address the issues with each of the sunscreens. Looking forward to your next video.
I LOVE AND ADORE all my Cosrx, D'Alba, Benton, and Pyunkang Yul products (+ Banila cleaning balm and Tony Moly 24k line). I have acne-prone, oily/dry combination skin and these brands have helped me so so so much in restoring my skin and just keeps the skin incredible soft, glowy, and hydrated.
I love to just sit back and listen to him speak about all these brands in great depth! He’s so knowledgeable and it definitely helps me feel out the thousands of brands out there lol!
The worse reaction I’ve had to products ever was with Glow Recipe... I’m really disappointed because the package and formulations look so great but I cannot bring myself to do that to my skin again
Yup, too much fragrance AND I have a random skin allergy licorice root extract, which they've put in many of their formulas. That blueberry bounce cleanser was quite possibly the worst skincare product I've ever tried. I'd rather use a clean and clear face wash lmao
I didn't have a negative reaction but it was just meh for me for the price. I think the only thing I'll repurchase is the watermelon overnight mask. It is adorable packaging & smells so good but it just didn't do a lot for me.
COSRX is what originally got me started on the Korean skincare journey and I've never looked back. That said, I prefer their earlier ranges and not been so blown away by the new lines. I finally tried their Snail Muchin Essence and OMG why has it taken me this long to find - it's amazing. Another awesome video James, thanks.
I don’t imagine you liking AmorePacific but that’s how I fell into Korean skincare before it was “Kbeauty” some 20yrs ago and it was life-changing ✨ Wondering your thoughts. They are also an umbrella company for so many more popular brands (i.e., Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Mamonde, Etude House (SoonJung line is bomb - so soothing), Primera, Innisfree, Illiyoon)
Innisfree has product lines in Korea that are way better than what they offer internationally. The Blueberry products are so nice! Wish it was easier to find
LISTEN... I LOVE DRAGON FRUIT SO MUCH! I have found that the ones I try in Australia are a lot more plain compared to the ones I get in China - which are super sweet and a lil crunchy (not just from the seeds!). Love this video! Was fun trying to guess the tiers haha
James, you should definitely try more Pyunkang Yul products! They are in my top 3 favorite skincare brands. I am a Korean skincare junkie too haha. Their toner is my favorite! It's even more hydrating than Klairs' Supple toner and I never have had the urge to try any other toner because it's just so perfect, and I usually like to experiment!
Hi James! This was such a wonderful video. Like you, I was put off by Glow Recipe for several years, but now you've piqued my interest! I have used several Pyunkang Kul products, and they are better than I expected them to be! Their Moisture Cream has a simple formula that has been just right for the winter. Also, the Balancing Gel is unlike anything I've felt before.
Love this ranking. I would love to try some of the items you mentioned. --Small suggestion for next time - can you put the names of the brands on the photos you move around? It would be super helpful! Love you!
Ugh Cosrx is my favorite brand as well, even the chemical exfoliants are so gentle on my skin. Could you please make an updated video about your favorite Cosrx products? I'm on Adapalene and my skin is literally peeling and burning so I'd love to try a very gentle and effective product
I have hormonal adult acne, and cosrx has been an actual godsend for me! The majority of my routine is cosrx, and it’s sold in ulta which is super convenient (edit: and dear Klairs fragrance free version products are really nice)
James, try Pyunkang yul essence. You can layer 7 or more times and it doesn’t feel sticky. It is hydrating, soothing and it has helped me with dryness caused by Tretinoin. I use it under their serum and then follow by their Ato cream. I have dry skin, but I still think that you will like their essence.
Loved loved loved this video!!! Korean skincare can be a little overwhelming since you can lose hours (literally) on the YesStyle app. Thanks for sharing all that info!!
JAMES!! I think some of us need like a skincare 101 course. I’m sure I’m not the only one confused with all the different terms, like actives, AHA, BHA, etc... I know some ingredients don’t mix well together but I can’t recall them. Anyway, would absolutely LOVE a basic course on skincare and the ingredients we should look for or avoid. LOVE YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL 🖤
I brought Some by Mi 30 Day Miracle Cream based off a past video. It worked great for me as a person over 40 with acne and super oily skin. I was scared it would bleach (very dark brown) my skin but it didn't. Now waiting for my second order
I just love binge watching your videos after falling behind due to work or other life things. It's so refreshing and amazing to see someone love Kbeauty or asian beauty as much as me :D
Other than Purito's Centella Unscented Serum, I don't really care for their other products. That serum is really the best for me all in one sensitive, anti-aging, anti-redness care. I loved the sunscreen but it's out of the picture now.
@@BeautywithDu ooo I think that’s another one I had my eye on! I’ll def check it out but I’m a bit afraid of fermented extracts. Not sure my rosacea will love it.
I'm in love with the I'm From Rice Mask. Idk what it is about it, but it really smooths out the small bumps on my forehead and super hydrates my horribly dry skin. I started with their Rice Toner (heard about it from your channel) and it really hydrated my dry skin. Even though you don't personally like their Rice Mask, it really helps me out, and I wouldn't have found it without you/your channel, so thank you so much!
I love Missha. Beautiful price and function. The estee dupe, beautiful packaging. The makeup is also beautiful. Just so well rounded. As an old lady the foundation just sits on me beautifully!

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this, but an independent South Korean lab actually found that the Purito is SPF 28. This is down to the testing machine used in Germany at first is old and not actually made anymore. When he said "vIATaMin dRoPs" I died
It actually made me cringe because that's exactly how I say it 😩 Like, "Oh my god, is that what I sound like?"

@@sluttymctits4496me too!
I know!!!!!
Innisfree is kind of like LUSH Cosmetics with the recycling pots. I think that’s so cool👌🏽
“S’ Nice” 🤣 I don’t know why but that cracks me up
cause that’s exactly how he says it
Should be MERCH with this 🤣😉🙌🏽
“S’nice 🥴”
That’s Borat 😂
Does James really believe in “the worst K beauty?” Lol
I asked myself the same question when I saw the red box 😂
Pyunkang Yul is such an underrated brand! Their toner is like £6 and honestly is the BEST skincare product I've ever used- just takes every other product that you put on after it to a whole other level of hydration and glooowww✨
Purito did offer refunds on everyone that bought it after June, they did also do another test where it was 28 spf.
They did? I haven't heard anything, only if it's bought directly from them I guess? 28 is decent enough in the winter I think :D
How do you get a refund??
No they have not released their own test result yet. The 28spf is the result from the Korean Institute of Dermatological Sciences( Mrs. Insuk Ahn), not the brand.
I saw a post that said you had to email the company you purchased it from by 31st Dec 2020. I emailed Stylevana on 30th! Still haven't heard anything back 😐
Cosrx will always be one of my holy grails. That good morning cleanser is 100% my favourite cleanser ever.
Ikr! I always end up going back to that cleanser! Fucking love it!
What from cosrx is good for sensitive skin?
I've never tried Rovectin, but the name sounds like a hemorrhoid cream 😂
It's amazing, I love it, they have really great lha serum.
I don't know why but when I first heard Rovectin I thought of cabbages. Don't ask me why lmao
I laughed so hard reading this 🤣
😂😂😂😂
@@laltlanchhungiralte778 Haha, that's what it sounded like in my ears 😁
Missha’s products have way too much fragrance for me. I’m not completely anti-fragrance but their products give me a headache.
Honestly, I live in Korea, and half of the brands I see on westerners RUclips mentioning when talking about Kbeaty I have literally NEVER seen or heard of here locally 😅
And what brands are popular nowadays in korea ?
@@nastiushha I honestly don't know what is popular, people usually use those what fit their skin, there is no really just one that is so famous and everywhere.
However, I did notice that in stores that sell various skincare there is more and more vegan skincare nowadays which is great!
@@Ndhusbbfe yeah that's great ! Thank you :)

I creased when your voice squeaked😂 'you all hate me and think I'm ugly' hahaha stop it man you beautiful
Just the other day I rediscovered and re- fell in love with the Hada Labo SPF.😍
It was the first Asian sunscreen I ever got and it was off of your recommendation!! Don't love that it's in a pot, but it feels like water on the skin and it'sso moisturising!! Absolutely adore in winter!😍😍😍
Does it have a whitecast?
@@DumiNihi I would say no. It’s a white cream so you can see some white, but it disappears as it’s absorbing and after a few minutes you don’t see anything. I really loved how it feels on my skin, but it started pilling like crazy within the first hour after applying it and I couldn’t figure out why 🥺
I agree. It's white going on but once you pat it into the skin it doesn't have any cast.
In terms of pilling, I've personally never had any problems with it pilling and I use A LOT haha
Could it be another product you're using underneath?
@@Anyone._. I tried applying it right after cleansing without even a toner and it still pilled. Not as much as with other products but still a lot 😒 I’m pretty sad about it, because I really liked it
@@annabr9986 maybe try applying it over a light moisturiser.
I use a face moisturizer that doesn't pile when I put it over retinol cream + Cosrx advance Snail mucin cream. But when in the morning I apply it after washing my face with water. It piles a little. It's so weird. My sister who uses the same moisturizer doesn't have that problem.
When you do these videos, can you add the brand names in the description box? It was hard for me to know what brand you were talking about sometimes and the picture were too small to figure it out. I love Kbeauty also and want to check some of them out but didn't catch all of the names. TYIA
Punkyang yul is definitely get on my face ❤️
YESSSS!!! literally my favourite for toner and moisturiser
I'm in love with Purito products, specially Centella range, even if I have dry skin it suits me very well. And I saw Olive Young brand is so popular inside korea, I hope they will launch their products globally.
I love the Purito unscented buffet serum! So hydrating and calming to the skin!
You should review a brand called Beauty of Joseon. They've gotten pretty popular lately and their serums or very nice.
I mean, dear klairs literally did the same thing as purito, it just went over everyone’s head. If anything their response was worse
Wait what did dear klairs do ? I am living under a rock
Keep Cool too
@@idontwannabemelol140 same sunscreen problem as Purito
I am in love with Glow Recipe. I’m a 55-year-old with very oily skin that also is starting to get fine lines. I resisted this brand because I thought it was for teenagers but received the watermelon toner in a subscription box and fell in love. Now I am buying pieces that I want to try with the blueberry bounce cleanser and the papaya cleansing balm the next two purchases
I actually gasped when you said you haven’t tried Pyunkang Yul. So good. Also, I would have put I’m From on the top tier, but we have different skin types. I’m really dry and so many of their lines work great for me. I haven’t tried much glow recipe because the price is high, but I think the Dew Drops may finally make me pull out my wallet.
may i ask what your fave skincare products you've tried for dry skin? I have super dry skin and am struggling to find good products.
@@Jiminphoria I’m From Rice Toner, Stratia Liquid Gold, I’m From Honey mask, Dear Klairs “Rich Moist” products. I buy most of these on Wishtrend.
did u try benton? idk why but i seem to love their products but i havent tried any yet so yesh, i also have dry skin so would u recommend them or not? and do u know a nice cleanser for dry skin?
i love learning about skin care whilst also enjoying the lowkey kpop instrumentals in the bg with james' channel☺️☺️
Hi may I know is the moisturizer suitable for day use? I have combi skin prone to oily and currently I'm searching for day moisturizer
The some by mi pimple patches are so good. Prefer them over the Cosrx ones
I love the way you say purito, it reminds me of burritos.
My subtitles actually kept saying burrito!
@@pamelahill507 omg LOLLL
Would love a review on Peach and Lily products, especially since they’re dropping a vitamin c serum soon!
Benton bee and snail essence is really good and makes you glowey af
I love to just sit back and listen to him speak about all these brands in great depth! He’s so knowledgeable and it definitely helps me feel out the thousands of brands out there lol!
You are the epitome of perfection! I love cosrx. Your skin journey is incredible
Omg the laneige cica sleeping mask saved my life this winter! Skincare truly is personal!
Same!
The worse reaction I’ve had to products ever was with Glow Recipe... I’m really disappointed because the package and formulations look so great but I cannot bring myself to do that to my skin again
Same! My skin is still recovering from it.
I even didn’t try because I hate fragrances in skincare (going to watch Hyram 😂)
@@elenan1217 definitely was before Hyram taught me about fragrance sensitivity 😅🙏🏻 grateful for him
Yup, too much fragrance AND I have a random skin allergy licorice root extract, which they've put in many of their formulas.
THIS IS IT! IVE WAITED FOR THIS FOR A 1000 YEARS! THANK YOU JAMES
who else noticed the background music from Stayc - Bad 😍✨
i noticed it on the first video he used this song 😂
That song is so good! Taste.
"Ok now we have Purito.. Let's let's let's..." I know right, let me take a sip of my tea
Loved this video! Always love hearing your view point on skincare! A part two of this video would be good on other K-beauty brands. There are a lot!
I’m surprised Isntree isn’t on here. It’s one of my favorite K Beauty brands ever.
What do you recommend from them for sensitive skin?
I’m addicted to the CosRx pimple patches. So good
Do they really work well??
love them!!
@@mikanchan322 yes! They make big pimples go down and less red
I miss the old intro :( sometimes hair even when you never mention it :(
Sometimes hair has been relocated to the twin channel. 😂
I do too!!
I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the Etude House Air Therapy Sheet Masks. They’re Korean Beauty as well
Loved loved loved this video!!! Korean skincare can be a little overwhelming since you can lose hours (literally) on the YesStyle app. Thanks for sharing all that info!!
My darling James you need to try Beauty of Joseon ❤️
I have their repair and calm serums 😍
Their calming serum is *chef's kiss*
A Sunday evening with a video from James is a great evening. 💖❤️🥰🥰
When you said “ViTaMiNs” in the full-snark American accent I just about spat out my drink at the accuracy. 😂
Hellllooo James !! Yasssss you are everywhere !! Your head is wonderful 🤣Loving the TikToks ...not just for the kids! Sundayyyyy is here!!💜🤗🖤
I brought Some by Mi 30 Day Miracle Cream based off a past video. It worked great for me as a person over 40 with acne and super oily skin. I was scared it would bleach (very dark brown) my skin but it didn't. Now waiting for my second order
Me sitting here hoping that my skincare routine doesn't end up in the orange/red spectrum 😄 I'm all about K-beauty now
SAME! 🤣
Marco! Love the 94 Boosting Essence. Have you tried it?
@@BeautywithDu ooo I think that’s another one I had my eye on! I’ll def check it out but I’m a bit afraid of fermented extracts. Not sure my rosacea will love it.

My brain can’t handle mirrored James 🤪

You should do a fragrance video like cologne , on your favorites would love to see that. I saw you waving around a niche brand escentric molecules bottle around in a video lol.
I’m not sure if you’ve seen this, but an independent South Korean lab actually found that the Purito is SPF 28. This is down to the testing machine used in Germany at first is old and not actually made anymore. Here’s the video: ruclips.net/video/DfUf2Q0P5lA/видео.html
She also recently made a video testing a few others including keep cool and Biore. The Biore thankfully tested SPF 50+!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for calling out Keep Cool's toxic behavior!
