You can make it right in the pot! There is no need to use a glass liner. It does make things a little cleaner but if you have room in the fridge... I always make a big batch then strain it to make more of a Greek style. I then save the whey in cubesnin the freezer for my next batches. It works perfectly and I don't have to buy probiotics anymore.
*Are you just straining it through a cheese cloth? And would you be doubling the cheese cloth, because cheese cloth has such big holes. I'm dying to give it a go.

I’ve been making my own yogurt with the instant pot for several years and it comes out perfect every time. I make it like you do and love it as a substitute for sour cream. Delicious. I really enjoy your recipes and love your enthusiasm. Thank you!

oh wow!😮amazing! I got the exactly same instant pot ! We're in the US and one of the only brands of organic soy milks that is 100% soy milk and has no additives is Westsoy. I heard that the more protein per serving the thicker will be the yogurt. the Westsoy milk has 9gr of protein per serving a serving is 240ml
I make 1 or 2 batches per week, and have for years. I use Edensoy most of the time, but I have also used both Westsoy and Pacific. I use a liter for 3 12-ounce jars with about 38 grams of saved starter in each jar. 15 hours in the IP, as I prefer it rather tart. I made the original starter batch with CountryLife lactobacillus acidophilus capsules.
When you get your milk making machine, you can even go more basic. I have a nutR machine , which doesn’t make a lot of milk, but having a bag of soybeans and water gives me peace of mind that I don’t have to run tothe store or spend extra money on the boxed milk products.
I failed several times making “pure” vegan yogurt from shop bought milks. Finally bought soy beans & made it successfully. But in the real world I need to make it more quickly & conveniently ( avoid blending/cooking/squeezing etc) so thanks for this - next round of yogurt ahead 🤣
That looks so easy! I bought some probiotics to try making yogurts a while ago but I have been too scared to try. I am definitely going to give it a go now x
Great job Ami. I like to strain mine through a coffee filter set inside a strainer. Of course have a bowl underneath to catch the whey. The longer you leave it in the fridge the thicker it will be. (I also put a towel over the top plus a large plate on top of that. That way the towel catches the condensation and the plate keeps the air out. I save the whey in the fridge to thin down smoothies when they are too thick. :)
I was wondering an you make it without a pressure cooker, do it the old way in the easiyo in hot water and leave on the bench overnight. I have not had yogurts in a long time
I tried prebiotic capsules and that didn't work, so today I'm using the store bought soy yogurt. I hope it works for me. Thank you for these clear, simple instructions! ❤
Wow I had no interest at all in making yogurt and I nearly didn’t watch this but am I soooo glad that I did!!! This is very interesting and seems like something I could do. Thank you!! 💕😘💕😘💕
I used to make yogurt a lot back in the day when I used dairy but haven't done so since going vegan. Even though I love tofu, tempeh and cooked soy beans, I have never gotten used to soy milk and soy yugurt. Will have to look into making yogurt from other plant-based milks :-)
Thanks. I followed the recipe exactly using the same Alpro Organic Soya milk and Alpro Greek Style soya yoghurt, 12 hours in the Instant Pot and it wasn’t set - needed to leave in on for another 4 hours. Anyone else has this issue?
Haven't made yogurt in the ages i'm really looking forward to doing it again. I think i'm going to have to look up how to make my own soy milk though the prices for the stuff without additives....whew!
I have a small-ish yogurt maker - not electric - that I use to put the pre-warmed milk in. I let it sit on the kitchen counter for the required amount of time and it always works 🙂
Sojade soya yoghurt (French brand, mostly from health food shops and delicatessens) has no additives, if it's available in the UK? Green pot. Just soya beans, culture and water and it's organic.
I used to have a great probiotic that made good soy yogurt, but ran out & they don't make it anymore. Have tried to make it twice & it just doesn't thicken like it used to. WHAT PROBIOTIC WORKS WITH SOY MILK?
I looked up the alpro that you use, Broccoli Mum, but when I put in United States, it names a bunch of stores I've never heard of. Are you in some other country?
I notice you don't heat the soya milk before making the yogurt....other recipes recommend boiling then cooling any milk used, cows or plant....any comment?
I did it last night. 12 hours using plenish organic soya and the soya Greek style yoghurt. It was more runny than set. I stirred the bubbles in (there was a few on the top). No idea why it didn’t come out set. Maybe I added too much milk
Sounds like your soya Greek yoghurt didn't have enough probiotics. Whole Foods has one called The Coconut Cult I'm going to try .. someone posted they use it to add to make their yogurt.
I’ve heard that the higher protein milks, like soy, work better for making yogurt. The other types of milk will give you a less thick, runny consistency, if you use the same recipe as one that calls for soy. I’m sure there are tons of recipes out there for the other types, though!
@@samthecentaur I have just been making 2 versions of oat yogurt 🙂 Wanted to see if I could still do it. I found a recipe for oats with a few cashews (makes it a bit more creamy). The first time was with 3 cups of water to 1 cup rolled oats and 1/2 a cup soaked cashews. Was VERY thick so have thinned it out with lemon juice and used it as ,more of a spread. The second one was 4 cups water to 1 cup oats and 1/4 cup soaked cashews. Came out perfect! Both times I used a bit of store-bought coconut yogurt as that was the kind I found that did not have a lot of additives. So I reccomend that if you are ok with a few cashews in your yogurt.
Moral of the story for me, follow the instructions. Ha ha. I tried this but used a probiotic instead. Result was a gloopy curdled mess. I’ll actually do it like Ami says the next time.😅
My Instant Pot goes straight to boil when I set to yoghurt. I hate these companies when they alter settings. It seems that, whenever I see a demo on here, settings and features have always altered in the meantime and it's bloody annoying.
If you push the yogurt button it changes from boil to 8 hours to 12 hours. For cows milk you set it to boil and then when cooled sufficiently you add your starter and then set it for 8 hours.
@@kristinehelsing4510 Really? I used Edensoy, but will try again. I am at high altitude so maybe that makes a difference. My yogurt usually tastes good, but never gets really thick. Do you put water in IP? What kind of container do you use?

Try whole chia seeds stirred into finished yogurt to thicken it.

Wow the yogurt looks beautiful! 🙏🏻🌿😊🌞🌈 Sometimes I strain Tesco plain soya yogurt, to make a ball of kind of soft cheese 😋
Yogurt can also be made in a thermos flask, you must keep a little for the next batch each time..used to make it years ago, must do it again..

Hi, can I ask, if you put your instant pot in sealing or venting? If its sealing, do you use the rubber sealer in the lid? Thank you!
You can just put a plate on the top, no pressure being used.
do you know how many capsules you use if you don't have yogurt to start with ?
Hey love this recipe just curious to know the Greek yogurt you used is it also a vegan yogurt?
Yes, all Alpro products are vegan. 😊
It does make a lot. I'm not sure I could use it all before it goes bad. I guess you could make half the amount.
You could strain half til the all water comes out and make/use as a cheese. Then add ingredients for flavour like garlic or onion powder.
Well it might last longer if she didn't constantly use the same spoon dipping in back in the yoghurt!
Romi’s so cute. Thanks for the video. I don’t have an IP. How many probiotics would I use for this recipe
I've always gone with 50 billion, so depends on the capsules. Some only have a few billion, some have 20 or more.
