I started my locs myself with two strand twists on 8/14/2021. I'm officially one year loc'd as well. Congratulations for sticking it out. I believe the toughest part is behind us now.
Your locs are so full and gorgeous! Well done. I've had my locs a little over two months and looking forward to my next vacation so I can experience the luxuriousness!
I two strand twisted my hair this morning by myself. 2/13/23😁 And see your video now, my hair is as similar twisted like yours. Im glad I did it like this. Im ready for this Locs♥️
I restarted my locs October 20th 2023 for what feels like the umpteenth time. But I finally got them the size I want, and I'm 5 months strong. You're gorgeous and your locs are beautiful
Omgoodness we basically started same time. I started random two strand on Aug 18th. I0 days later for several days I was in the sea water in the islands back home so not sure if that hindered or helps but I know salt water is good for the hair. I hope to post vids on this journey. Hows it going so far?
@@chastemade so far so good! I had to braid some of my roots a bit so the damn things would stop coming untwisted lol. It’s also dry as the damn Sahara, my natural hair is always so dry!!
@@kparrott34 oh wow on the braiding.. I haven't yet retwisted mine and dnt think I will be doing so for awhile but thinking about doing more oil soaks to help with dryness. The Mango Jamaican oil is really nice for hydration and if you keep silk or satin wrap on while sleep or with some styles.
New Subscriber i just started my loc journey 7/29/22 and i love seeing the process of my hair transform ive been a loose natural for six years now my loc journey has begun 💪🏿💯❤️
New subbie...just got my microlocs with two strand twist installed on Sept 7th. So I'm going on 3-weeks! Can't wait to see how they look in a year! Your hair is beautiful 😍🤩
Thank you so much for this! I'm starting my loc journey next week and I am beyond excited! You are so beautiful and your locs make you even more beautiful. I'm looking forward to the journey!
I'm planning on starting my loc journey pretty soon. I've been binge watching loc videos, educating myself ,on the sizes, parts, moisture care, do's and dont's etc. I've been wanting locs for the longest but I haven't done it bc of other people opinions/disapproval. I finally stop giving a f*ck about what ppl thought and decided to do what I want. Question, did you do random parts or did you go row to row?
Girl, why the scare ? 😂 As your retired hairstylist, I know it would suit you so and your personality so well! Worse case, you'd sit down and comb them out 😆
Thanks :) I used to spray my hair daily with a mix of water and rose water. And apply a thin layer of oil. I think doing it daily helped my hair to loc faster.
@@WholesomeBahon thank you so much for the info and quick response. May I ask, which oil you used und did you put it on your scalp and/ or your locs. I am getting loced next month and I am so excited :)
@@SadeNimea I would use a DIY ayurvedic oil blend on my scalp to boost hair growth. And a simple lightweight blend on my locs (almond, apricot, infused with herbs). I would also do hot oil treatment using thicker oils (castor oil, avocado, and the likes) before shampooing. Happy to help ☺
I want to start locs but, and i know this sounds silly but I’m conflicted because I want them to be thick because I know it will suit me but at the same time, I want them to me small and thin so I can do the same hairstyles I did when my hair was out. Great video btw!
Tysm 🥰 I hydrated my locs with either water or a mix of rose water, aloe juice and water. Then I applied a DIY oil blend with castor oil, almond oil, macadamia oil, avocado oil and some essential oils. I’d suggest you use oil that you know your hair likes.
I didn't use any labelled "locking" product. I started by twisting my hair with a leave in and oil. I maintain and retwist my locs with a hydrating spray and hair oil
Your hair is beautiful before and with locs. Your hair was so long before locs and clearly your hair is growing with locs. But Im concerned because I dont have the length you had when you started loca and my hair shrinks a lot when its wet. Hopefully I dont get a lot of shrinkage
Don't worry about the length Kara, that will undoubtedly come; just enjoy the journey of falling in love with your hair and getting to know it like never before. It's very spiritual for me. I covered mine for the first six months or so because I wanted it to be personal. enjoylove
Omgoodness. Love your video and soothing voice Sis. I randomly put small two strand twist in my hair Aug 18th this year so I'll be one month in tomorrow.. 😁 I'm so nervous I dnt know if I did them too small or what the results will be not having them uniformed or parted neatly. I'm anxious for the journey if I can hold on. 🙏🏾 Hopefully will post a video of my journey also if my hubby will let me show my hair on camera 🙂
@@WholesomeBahon Yes that was the plan but it took so long to take out..lol So I just took them out Friday so was only in for a month and half. I think I will go ahead being a loose natural for now caz I do enjoy my various curly styles. I did see about 3 inches growth while they were twisted so I think I will do a protective twist style about every 3-4 months and leave for 6 weeks.
This is me. I wear mini twists, twist outs, wash and repeat. I should be finishing my starter locs tonight or tomorrow. Here’s to a new journey.

Congrats 👏🏿 Yes, I believe so too
when did it drop?
@sedanenjoyer103 I honestly don't think it dropped yet. Around 1 year and 6 months, I noticed a big difference in length.
@@joyfulsoul2011 if you wanna know if it drops , tie it for a lil ( 1 minute) then take it out. if it all falls down then ur locs have dropped 🙂
@@Isxiahprodfl Oh. It definitely dropped then. At my 1 year mark. I started to have the "swing" effect.😃
You and your hair are gorgeous 😍. I’m 1 month into my loc journey so far. It’s interesting seeing how my hair is changing already.
Thank you 🥰 Yes, amazing the things our hair can do
I’m here because today is the start of my loc journey. I was so nervous but I finally did it. See you on the journey. 💕✌🏾

Just going to start my loc journey this week
I loc'd my hair in may 2021 and I'm not going back to lose natural and I dislike people in my head just really enjoyed the low maintenance with locs
What type of locs do you have? Honestly, I sometimes miss my loose natural hair 😂 especially when looking at older pictures
I just started braid locs and almost 1 month in🙏💕
Nice! 😁 I actually hesitated between braids and twist
Cool. I'm a month behind ya. I'm so anxious 😅

I parted my hair in rows and opted for the square shape pattern.
Haha, amazing how some people feel offended or threatened by yhis simple hairstyle 😅

If you are someone who changes style quite often, I would go for the smaller ones, it would be way more flexible in my opinion.
hi i have a question, so when you're saying you hydrated your hair, what did you hydrate it with?? if you used oils and stuff which ones did you use?
