In 1997, McEnroe's wife, singer-songwriter Patty Smyth, told him, "In the future only one of us will be working away from home on a music tour and it ain't gonna be you!"
This reminds me: Back in the late 70s, I found myself in CBGBs (the then punk rock capitol of the world) with my earliest childhood John. He was working for my brother and his band who were in CBGBs that evening doing a show with The Ramones. Someone played 'Rebel, Rebel' on the jukebox; and being as drunk as a skunk that evening, I proceeded to get up on one of the tables and started to dance. About 3 years later, John found himself working for Peter Frampton, who sent him to South America in search of his favorite lost guitar. I trust some of you know that Peter Frampton and David Bowie were childhood friends and used to play their guitars together when they were kids. And now I remember where I was when I first heard Eric Clapton and Cream's "Anyone For Tennis": I was at John's house; we were still kids at the time! That's a true story.
Great performance and I love that he's clearly nervous and not as confident as on the court or in the booth - shows he's got some humility and even insecurity. No need though - he plays and sings real nice. :)
Love mister McEnroe. Just listening to his ultra cool New York accent whilst watching the Australian Open tennis. Wish he could hang around here to comment on some of the shite that's coming up on Australian TV once the tennis is over. That would be really funny indeed! Good work on the Bowie song too. Legend!!
Does anyone remember a song by Cream (Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker) called-'Anyone For Tennis'? Back in the days when everything was on vinyl, and they still had 45 rpms, it was the flipside of 'Badge'.
Patty is one of the best singers on planet Earth. Whoever that guy was should be so lucky. I think his last name might be Smyth, I don't know. Probably a family member or something.
Hi! I produce a small sports interview TV show. We have a new episode we are working on with John McEnroe. Can we use a short clip from this video on our episode? We are happy to include on-screen credit if you'd like. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you!
Good as Anybody Else

John McEnroe once went up into space in a rocket.
On approaching the Dog Star,he yelled 'You cannot be Sirius'.

A perfect illustration of just because you can pick up a racket doesn't mean you can pick up a guitar!
What?
But he played it well?
I guarantee he’s better than you, dckhead

When this guy gets excited he looks like an 80's John McEroe. I don't speak guitar but it's fun ruclips.net/video/zfPn1u8AwJ0/видео.html
Not Bad😃
He sings better than Pelé.
Is that Keith Richard's younger brother... just kidding... grins
i'm better than a famous person on the guitar haha
Not bad
Don't smash that guitar John..pls
Good job. This song is just great. However Bowie had nothing to worry about.
Wayyyy too slow !! the drummer is constantly dragging behind, that's irritating.
New balls please
If he wasn’t John McEnroe he’d be booed off the stage lol 😂
decent guitar player but he should leave the singing to someone else.
on bass guitar Zelensky .
