@@twogitsinacar4811 Pretty sure he is playing some. With tight bellows you don’t need to move way out and in. But Pete Townsend didn’t need to swing his arm around and around You can see his right hand doing the slight hand movements for the (dead simple) chords during the closing “suffragette city” section
This was done really well -- Weird Al, who would have guessed (in the 1980s) he would be become the epitome of amazing music generation, cultural spyglasses, and truly honorable live performances. Thanks for sharing!
I was just at this concert, I was the guy standing up at the end because experiences that profound don't happen very often and that the rest of the audience didn't join in a standing ovation is borderline criminal. This was the single greatest moment of not only 2018, but the 21st century so far. I'm torn between being mad that you're spoiling this for anyone who hasn't been to the concert yet (this seems like something that he's been doing at each tour date), and pleased that everyone who wasn't going to experience this concert at all is getting a chance to see it, not to mention getting a bit of a replay for myself since I was utterly stunned with awe the first time around. EDIT: I did some checking, and it turns out, no, this was THE ONLY SHOW at which Al performed Suffragette City, or ANY David Bowie song, and with just three dates left on the tour, it looks like we had the phenomenal good fortune of bearing witness to this perfect moment. So, good on you for getting it on camera, this needs to be preserved forever.
The site I was checking only showed a few days in advance, I had since noticed that additional dates were showing up. In any case, it's looking like I really lucked out, the other covers, while cool, can't really compare to David Bowie.
He's doing a different cover song each concert! In fact, the whole set list is different each night. It's enough to make ya want to buy an RV and follow him around the country...
I know, we were mainly discussing the covers, which came as a massive surprise since I avoided any foreknowledge before the show. I'm pretty satisfied to have gotten the best one.
notreallythere477 You are mistaken I was fortunate enough to have witnessed the greatest cover of all time when Al covered The Who's Squeeze Box on April 4th in Minneapolis but this is excellent as well.
that "wham, bam, thank you ma'am" always hits hard
He is one of the few who can replicate bowie's sweet rage
Bowie never knew all the song was missing was an accordion. Rocks.
Except he does not seem to be actually playing it !
Actually there is accordion in his song "Memory of a Free Festival".

Wow, that was good! His band is good too!
Al's own songs are all so asexual, and so often nice, that hearing him sing this one really highlights its cruel raunchiness.

The audience deserves 1.4 points for not all shouting Freebird simultaneously
Man he can sing really well outside of parody songs
He's done backing vocals on a couple of albums, the man's legit talent.

Great comment, and you were very lucky, but there are far more than three dates left on the tour.
