Modeling isn't an easy profession to get into. People will rip you to shreds and you have to put up with it. That being said, I think that Julian and Grace for that matter are being rude just for the sake of being rude. They aren't critiquing they're being rude. There's a difference between the 2 and I don't think that they know the difference.

The photographer didn’t give clear directions to Amelia as she is running down the corridor - “remember when you’re running, you’re putting out this one arm.” So Amelia runs with her arm out, he says “Same again, you’ve got your arm out this one side.” Then he complains that he kept giving her direction to put her arms down but she was still putting her arm back in every shot. Dude wonders why she couldn’t get it right but never told her directly to put her arms down. I want to yell at him just be clear and tell her straight up what you want and don’t blame her for not taking direction if you cant give direction. This one was on the photographer, not Amelia. If you have a crap photographer then you get crap photos. And he’s the one who chose the final photo to be viewed too, so.....

I never understood why a model is supposed to be able to act. They are models ... not actresses.
If they can't convey an emotion or a mood they're not good models, so yes they need the basics.
Models are managed when in demand they might get offers to act and sometimes they turn into big actors and may be get cast in a few big roles
