Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

I knew what to expect because I was put under for my wisdom teeth removal. You go into the surgery room, lie on the table, they settle you in, and the anesthesiologist talks to you the whole time until you're knock out by the medicine that puts you under via an IV drip. I wasn't awake for more than a few minutes. Next thing I know, the surgery is done! It's like any other sleep, except you don't wake up until the anesthesiologist cuts off the medicine haha

That sounds like torture... but I may be able to handle it if I ever have to have it done. I've had surgery done on my tongue. I got the surgery done when I was 13, it was to get rid of the skin underneath my tongue that made it "double tied". I couldn't move my tongue that much. My brother had it done when he was 4 because he couldn't speak where people understood (except for me), but my mom had a dream once and she asked me when I was 13 if I would like it done because she had a dream about it. I went ahead and did it because I got made fun of for saying some words. I didn't need speech because I adapted, but sometimes I would mispronounce words or slur them because of my tongue. Couldn't talk for a week. It was milkshakes, yogurt, jello...anything liquid. About a few months later I developed a mucous cyst underneath my tongue. It constantly got big and deflated, off and on, and it would hurt sometimes. I forget when mom took me to the surgeon again, but he got rid of the cyst and he said it might come back, but luckily it didn't. Tonsillectomy sounds 10 times worse... compared to having a piece of skin removed though. And I wouldn't like the scab part...but I would secretly would have liked to see it. (Cause I'm gross and I like those things).

That sounds horrible! Any mouth surgery sounds bad to me though. I might or might not have to have something done with my jaw when I get insurance again because I have really bad TMJ.
After 2 weeks, I finally looked at my scars and they looked like angels wings! It was cool and creepy at the same time 😅

I'm 34 and had a tonsillectomy where only one of my tonsils was taken out which is now lasting three weeks and I swear I hate this so much and also I had all my teeth extracted too which is why I had surgery in the first place and also found out I had a lot of stones in the one tonsil.

It's worth it? Do you talk without any pain now? :/

I have no pain at all! It's 100% worth it. 2 weeks of pain for a lifetime of feeling better is worth it.
