- In this video, Christine and I go over our May 2024 bourbon and whiskey haul. We did a bit of personal travel in May going to Paris, France, Las Vegas, and San Francisco, along with some local pick ups here in the DMV (that’s what the locals here call the DC, Maryland, Virginia area). I was able to pick up some EH Taylor Single Barrel doing some virtual bourbon hunting, and I also hit on a local lottery to buy a Van Winkle Lot B 12 Year.

Hello from Roanoke, VA. Good Luck with your channel. I think Stellum is being discontinued. I seriously need to pick up some Old Soul. I bet the Ironclad does make a good old fashioned. I have that Crown Royal, and normally I would never buy it, but I was in Grants, New Mexico and the guy in the store was so cool, I picked it up - yes for $150. I still haven't opened it. I love Redwood Empire stuff. Russell's Reserve Single Barrel store picks are so good. I have done some Bourbon Hunts in Vegas and posted some videos. I love Hunting in Vegas. Wow! That was one heck of a haul guys! That's an entire year for me!!
I love the Roanoke area! We used to go down a lot when my daughter ran XC and did triathlons. SML is also lovely. I’ve gone a little crazy with the bourbon buying, so we’re going to start focusing on tastings and reviews. Honestly, I’ve bought so many bottles I would not have gotten except you meet amazing people that share their stories or favorite whiskies and you find yourself walking out with a new bottle..or more!We’ll try the Crown 18 in the next few months, but need to see if I still have standard version to compare. Still haven’t tried the Redwoods and waiting to add some cask strengths to compare to. I haven’t met a Russell’s pick I didn’t like…they’re amazing. My first time watching your channel. Good Stuff! I'm here in Yorktown, VA. That last VA drop was crazy! I picked up an ECBP524 yesterday and the Beam House Bookers today. That's a full week after the drop! I did see Murray Hill Club on the shelf all week between VB, NN and Yorktown.
Thanks for watching! The last drop was a surprise! It was supposed to be just store picks from that email we got. My wife and I were actually in Maryland that morning for a lottery of prized whiskies. We didn’t win anything, but did get a slightly overpriced Blanton’s $80…LOL. On the way back home, we decided to stop by an ABC and saw some allocated bottles. I got the same bottles you did! Have you had a chance to try either one?

Been bringing 5-7 bottles back from other countries. Saw 5 liters on TSA website per passenger. Haven’t had an issue yet.
Did you declare that many bottles? I read the same thing you did with TSA limits, which is correct, but i also found CBP info stating 1L per person. I’ve also been told that the duty is not bad per extra liter as well…somewhere around $2.5-3/bottle. So maybe not a big deal either way! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Those bevmo russell's picks are excellent! This tastes very similar to my Camp Nelson- F Kentucky Spirit, so I think a lot of these recent ones are camp nelson.

Stumbled onto your channel. I live on the outskirt of San Francisco. Recently picked up some Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirirt CN-E. I'll keep my eye for some RR barrel select. Caught a JD10 at Bevmo on a late saturday afternoon. 🤷😅
Which BevMo had the JD10? That’s a great pick up! The RR barrel selects from BevMo are amazing! I need to find my way back to SF to grab more.

If you’re interested in some Willett Purple Tops, they had some in some of the west Vegas shops. Also, there’s a ton of John J Bowman in Vegas if you’re hunting for it.

Hi, thanks for watching! We found our W12s in Paris, France. I’ve actually seen it in three different Parisian shops. Le Caves du Roy, Le Whisky Du Maison, and one other…I think Whisky Spirits. The wording on the back of the box is in French, instead of English which is typically the case with American Whiskies sold overseas.

Thanks for watching! I don’t think so. This was the first time I’ve seen EHT SiB in the wild and not at secondary. Lee’s has been decent with getting drops of allocated bourbons. When we were in LV a couple months ago, I visited a Lee’s Discount Liquor up north. Maybe Aliante, but in that area, and the guy there mentioned that they had a drop of George T Stagg at their store. He even showed me the manifest for that delivery to their store. I was hunting Old Forester 1924 that month and some stores showed inventory, but that’s when I learned that you should call before driving over.
Headed to Vegas at the end of July. Which stores do you recommend? I know you mentioned a few. I think I may only have time fore like one or two. Which ones would you say are worth it.
Definitely look up inventory on Lee’s Discount Liquors. If you find something online, give the store a call to confirm it’s still available, then head over there. I’ll post a video on how I did this very soon. Total Wine has a few stores in the area as well. We’ve been lucky finding Blanton’s, Eagle Rare and Hancock’s at TW just walking in by luck.

Any recommendations in the LA Area? Our bevmos only seem to get eh small batch, Blantons, and eagle rare.
I haven’t been to LA in a bit, but I think Whiskey Bank on RUclips is in the LA area and he’s mentioned some standard grocery stores and Total Wines having some good drops now and then. If you want a great bourbon from Bevmo, try their Russell’s store picks. I just picked up two different rickhouses (A & B) that they picked and they’re so good if you like em somewhat fruity and sweet. That’s if you like Russell’s or WT of course.

That Iron Clad is awful IMO. Has a chemical taste to me. Upsetting because they are super local to me. Haven’t tried their other stuff though.
Haven’t cracked that one yet, but we usually use maple finished for old fashioneds so hope it’s still ok. Thanks for watching
