  • If you saw the preview to this, you will know that the replacement of the timing chain on the F-100 was much needed! Same process applies to 352, 360 and 390 FE engines.
Hopefully the new Fel-Pro gaskets and seals will also minimize the bulk of our oil leaks.
    Parts and tools used:
    Fel-Pro gasket set TCS 45167
    Cloyes Timing set C-3029
    OTC harmonic balancer puller/installer 4531

**Note that in this video the front cover seal is backwards! Make sure you install yours in the correct direction!**

Love the old 360 FE. Had one in a '73 F-100 Ranger XLT w/ a T-19 tranny, posi-trac w/ 3.70 gears. 600 Holley on stock 390 intake, headers & dual glasspacks. Made a great mud truck for hunting trips.

That cam gear you took off is the OEM gear. They were aluminum with a nylon coating around the teeth. I suspect all the nylon got brittle & broke off. That probably why your chain was so loose.

I slip the timing cover on with the spacer/sleeve inside it already and then bolt it down. That way it's perfectly centered on the seal for a no leak fit.

good video. would you agree that mostly all new timing sets single or double row now have that spacer added onto the backside of the sprocket eliminating the need for the "C" washer/spacer? changing mine out (Ford FE) for a new Melling timing set this week. Thanks for posting.

Nice video! Overall, seems pretty simple to do a camshaft. I’m 18 and I’m soon going to be buying my first vehicle/truck that’s just like this one!
