I agree Audi needs to remember why we are all Audi fans! I drive 2015 SQ5 and it is the coolest/weirdest SUV ever with it's supercharger. The RS3 and TTRS were amazing with their 5 cylinder engines. This is the kind of stuff that we want!
I used to call myself a “true Audi fan” as I’ve owned over the past decade a number of cool Audi cars (S3, S5, RS5, e-tron S just to name a few) I left Audi in 2020 as I felt the brand was loosing its identity, loosing what made the fans falling in love with it: Heritage, strong branding, emotion… Nowadays, it’s all about selling volumes, pleasing some (huge) markets, diluting the history that made so many people fall in love with the four rings. Today, you can buy an Sline A3 and fool people, pretending you’re driving a sport version. That is not right. Today, if I want to feel emotional about Audi, I need to think about B8 RS4, First gen R8, or even the cabin of my former B8.5 A4 Sportback that was shouting quality all over. Now it’s all about cheap plastic, same RS grill for everyone, no more front S/RS front logo… I truly hope to come back to Audi but I need to feel the emotion of it and to speak the truth, it is gone at the moment. Dear Audi, prove me wrong, show me a true Audi like they were in the past and I’ll be signing that contract with heartbeats like I use to remember back in the days… Your (Still) big Audi fan

I completely agree with u! I left Audi in January when i bought a Bmw X3M as a new second car. But i still have my B8.5 S5 Convertible. I love this car and its quality so much. Its my second S5, i also had one from 2012 to 2016 when i bought the one i still have. This car made me really fall in love with the brand becuase of its quality, practicality and sportiness. Its so sad to see, what Audi made the last 5 years ago...

Fantastic designed car just perfection not overdisgned with 25inch weels and black optics everywhere, perfect sized aluminium grill not new one all black with Huge honeycomb the size of my head and cheap plastic made with almost 60% closed, no 3k rev limiter, rev all the way up❤ classy and solid interior not cheap and only digital interior , this was the brand i felt only love thank you auditography for reminding me these Time, keep going.
I have the A4 version of this car. The quality is astonishing. That was the peak of Audi. I think they really shouldn’t stop putting N/A V8s into the RS4. And they shouldn’t stop putting buttons in the interior.
Nothing but love brother you have one of the best Audis ever....as an owner of an audi i agree all the new ones are becoming more plastic and not exciting..the interiors are getting worse....the exteriors are just mehh...they need to start making some of the old legend audis like a limited edition something....but what a great story you just told us and we love it!!!!!!

Totally agree with you on the whole badging fiasco. Audi please bring back the front S and RS badges and put back the old style rear badging so the S and RS models stand out as they should. I completely understand. I'm down to 4 now as I sold one of my C5 allroad's (6mt, of course). I'm left with a B5 S4, a C5 allroad, a B7 S4, and a B8.5 S4 (Supercharged). I am the original purchaser of all but the C5. All are manual trans cars. As a matter of fact the B8.5 was the 13th to last 6mt S4 ever in the US. There are many more I wish I had, but money is a scarce resource. And every time I get into my B7, I think of the Queen song: "I'm in love with my car". Love the blue with the orange interior. Enjoy many more years with it. -mike

Great story. Love the car, the 4.2L v8 sound & especially the interior colour that pops in a sea of Audi black interiors. My first Audi was a D3 A8 with 4.2 N/A engine. Then went to an A4 1.8T (mistake!), then to an 2014 A7 with 3.0T SC engine, then 2013 S6 w 4.0TT, then 2014 S8 (stunning car) with 4.0TT, and recently purchased a 2018 RS4 with the 2.9TT. Love my V8s, but the 2.9TT RS4 is doing a great job at keeping me 'entertained'. I agree that the 2021 onwards interiors have gone down in quality, a sea of grey & and gloss black plastic in most models. Even the RS ETRON GT that i drove on an Audi driving day didnt feel special inside, especially with the joke "dickie switch" excuse for a gearstick. For the same $$$ here in Oz, I'd rather buy an RS6 which is actually very impressive in all aspects. I enjoy your videos!!
I have a B8 S5 Cabrio. I love this cars wonderful interior and the incredible quality of it! I equipped it additionally with full Audi exclusive interior back in 2016. Perhaps its just a S5 this car has an incredible soul and i love hearing it while driving with the open roof. And its also really, really practical. For years it was my only car and i drove it summer and winter (thanks to quattro) without problems. Now i have a Bmw X3M as a second car since half a year ago, for me as a big Audi Fan, Audi has completely lost its character and identity. That makes me really sad and its also a reason why i bought the Bmw. Hopefully Audi changes and brings back such beautiful cars as the B8 S5 or B8 RS4!

Beautiful car! Cut my teeth on 4000 and 5000 quattros back in the day. Like you said, I hope Audi hasn't lost their way with putting the rhomboid on every model the way BMW puts M badging on everything. It no longer feels special to own an S or RS model. My b7 is 18 y.o. an old lady in cars terms now and I would love to upgrade it for b8, because it is newer, engene become more fun and reliable, suspension became better and reliable, it is got s-differential and so on... But it lost the manual gearbox and the handbrake and it ruined all the winter experience and fun for me 😢 really thinking about buying one and make a manual conversion 😅
Having the best of both worlds is the solution: Have both! The B7 and B8 are quite different. As you pointed out, the manual gearbox and analog handbrake are so good in the B7, while the B8 is modern on all points, and the engine is a big better. The B7 is surely the icon though as its more balanced. Have both! Cheers
I’ve had my RS4 B8.5 now for coming up 8 years and will never sell it. A couple of things if anyone is considering this car. First, ditch the DRC. Not only WILL it fail ( generations of this suspension and Audi never fixed it ) but it can’t come near coil overs, I went KW and lowered 10mm and added 12.5mm spacers all round after the second DRC failure but wish I had have done from day dot because it handles so much better, worlds apart. Also get rid of middle resonator but get professional exhaust custom modified not straight pipe ( mine has two seperate much smaller resonators in place of the big one ) and add X pipe, unleashes that crazy V8 sound, you don’t need a full after market exhaust for it to sound epic.130K km, daily driven and so far been very reliable bar the rubbish DRC.Underrated and still to this day makes me grin like the mad hatter when I hit 8000 plus rpm with this incredible sounding n/a V8. Interior has held up no issues at all as it’s quality is better than the new stuff. Buying another newer car as well shortly, drove the B9 and hated it. Boring as crap with that terrible sounding V6, no soul so, as someone else here pointed out, Audi fans like me prefer the old stuff better than the new.

I have never gone from total adoration and loyalty for a brand, to a complete distaste and disappointment in the same brand, as fast as I have with Audi since these new model reveals. It’s like they said let’s take everything that our fan base loves about the brand and get rid of it smh
Nostalgia is a tough pill to swallow. My B8.5 A4 interior still rattles from time to time, so i'm not so sure if we have gone down from quality. We will be saying these things again 10 years down the road again from today's cars. Nonetheless, beautiful car and noise.

A message for Audi: The soul from your cars is slowly disappearing, the Times where I believed in ,,vorsprung duch technik" are off, but I feel it is a pity, because back then I was waiting for new, better torsen generation, or weight balance for example. ..we all know that permanent 4wd is way better than haldex or any other clutch system like quattro-ultra. Just because of the passive security system. Give us back mechanical technique. Why the hell A3 and A4 does not have option for manual gearbox?! I can not buy newer car then b8.5! Even more if I want the car with manual gearbox and torsen! Thats the vorsprung duch technik and we all know you have exchanged this to stupid unnevcessary SUVs and more sales. You also reacted to us and told us that a4 was so rare bought with manual so you removed it from the list, but do you know, that all such customers are still waiting for manual or went for the other manufacturers? Then you can bully market situation/covid or any other nonsense. Give us back the real, mechanical vorsprung duch technik! Not the clutch or brake systems. Audi was and was supposed to be car for engineers and People who love the maturity of the mechanical aspects, not only design posers. I know at least 10 People who are waiting for manual to be back. How about you?! Give us a new proper car with outstsnding weight ratio, permanent 4wd, option for manual and we will love you because we will feel you are concentrating on technik and brushing the diamond to the perfect shape again.
..for me as an Audi driver Audi is lost in the future with it's EV only strategy. Therefore buy the older S/RS models before it's too late! [2015 Audi S4 Avant B8.5]

It's a lovely car, but cars like SportQuattro, R8 V8 Gen1 manual and RS2, are on the wishlist for me ☺
My b7 is 18 y.o. an old lady in cars terms now and I would love to upgrade it for b8, because it is newer, engene become more fun and reliable, suspension became better and reliable, it is got s-differential and so on... But it lost the manual gearbox and the handbrake and it ruined all the winter experience and fun for me 😢 really thinking about buying one and make a manual conversion 😅
Having the best of both worlds is the solution: Have both! The B7 and B8 are quite different. As you pointed out, the manual gearbox and analog handbrake are so good in the B7, while the B8 is modern on all points, and the engine is a big better. The B7 is surely the icon though as its more balanced. Have both! Cheers

Having a B9 RS5 Competition, I still can't shake the need to buy 1st gen RS5 only because of the CFSA engine.

I’ve had my RS4 B8.5 now for coming up 8 years and will never sell it. A couple of things if anyone is considering this car. First, ditch the DRC. Not only WILL it fail ( generations of this suspension and Audi never fixed it ) but it can’t come near coil overs, I went KW and lowered 10mm and added 12.5mm spacers all round after the second DRC failure but wish I had have done from day dot because it handles so much better, worlds apart. Also get rid of middle resonator but get professional exhaust custom modified not straight pipe ( mine has two seperate much smaller resonators in place of the big one ) and add X pipe, unleashes that crazy V8 sound, you don’t need a full after market exhaust for it to sound epic.130K km, daily driven and so far been very reliable bar the rubbish DRC.Underrated and still to this day makes me grin like the mad hatter when I hit 8000 plus rpm with this incredible sounding n/a V8. Interior has held up no issues at all as it’s quality is better than the new stuff. Buying another newer car as well shortly, drove the B9 and hated it. Boring as crap with that terrible sounding V6, no soul so, as someone else here pointed out, Audi fans like me prefer the old stuff better than the new.

B8.5 never interested me, but I bought one recently....B7 still better for the era that it was released in,but enjoying my B8.5 with more mature approach to life😊

Nostalgia is a tough pill to swallow. My B8.5 A4 interior still rattles from time to time, so i'm not so sure if we have gone down from quality. We will be saying these things again 10 years down the road again from today's cars. Nonetheless, beautiful car and noise.

In your other video the exhaust tips are still black, indicating performance exhaust, but also do not like mine in black, did you just replace them or have your old ones finished in chrome?

You can order RS mirror caps from ebay. Otherwise, you can goodle for the matte chrome paint and youll find your answer in 10 seconds. Good luck!
The B8 is the end of an era for the RS4, IMO the later V6 while being a lovely car, has lost the RS4 sole.

The soul from your cars is slowly disappearing, the Times where I believed in ,,vorsprung duch technik" are off, but I feel it is a pity, because back then I was waiting for new, better torsen generation, or weight balance for example. ..we all know that permanent 4wd is way better than haldex or any other clutch system like quattro-ultra. Just because of the passive security system. Give us back mechanical technique. Why the hell A3 and A4 does not have option for manual gearbox?! I can not buy newer car then b8.5! Even more if I want the car with manual gearbox and torsen! Thats the vorsprung duch technik and we all know you have exchanged this to stupid unnevcessary SUVs and more sales. You also reacted to us and told us that a4 was so rare bought with manual so you removed it from the list, but do you know, that all such customers are still waiting for manual or went for the other manufacturers? Then you can bully market situation/covid or any other nonsense. Give us back the real, mechanical vorsprung duch technik! Not the clutch or brake systems. Audi was and was supposed to be car for engineers and People who love the maturity of the mechanical aspects, not only design posers. I know at least 10 People who are waiting for manual to be back. How about you?! Give us a new proper car with outstsnding weight ratio, permanent 4wd, option for manual and we will love you because we will feel you are concentrating on technik and brushing the diamond to the perfect shape again.
