golden convoy exactly. Why do expensive and heavy remolding on an already trash figure when literally anything else will end up with a better end result? It looks absolutely awful, and hot rod is one of the few that has multiple car parts on the robot, yet none of them are in the right place on the toy. The legs are scrawny, the head is minuscule, and the chest and arms are massively oversized. One of my favourite movie designs, and they managed to make it into one of the absolute worst figures.
I find it weird that NO ONE mentioned that Lockdown's transformation is the EXACT same as Roadbuster's (TF3), but everyone immediately complained that Hot Rod's transformation is the exact same as Lockdown's.
I noticed that too. Lockdown and Hot Rod are retools of Roadbuster. I wasn't a fan of Roadbuster's transformation, but Lockdown's is worse. Roadbuster at least looked like the character, minus the weaponization. Lockdown's toy is too short and thin for the character. The character is thinner in the movie too (he's as tall as Optimus despite being a Lamborghini). Lockdown doesn't even scale well with the DOTM Wal-Mart Deluxe Optimus. Hot Rod looks like the best of the three. The paint, sculpt, and the way the arms transform look good. As opposed to Lockdown (who would have looked better as a Voyager or Leader figure), Roadbuster and Hot Rod scale well with other figures. I can't wait to get him. The only reason I got Lockdown is because I liked him in the movie and the toy came with the face gun.

This is the Premier edition line of the TF5 movie, it's a $19.99 and up price figure, 1 or 2 small guns aren't too much to ask for, especially when the character has them in the trailers and TV spots, ID just really like to know why he doesn't have a weapon, did they use up the funds by making him bigger than Lockdown, or was it because they made the figure before seeing his guns?

i wish if a new hot rod figure will come out will be like a retool of bumblebee but its centernario so it could be less tramsformation or more and also different class more likely a voyager and last but no least ACCESSORIES
They could have easily made new feet and let the front of the car be the breast plate. I am actually thinking of buying this and customizing it so that his chest and feet are more accurate. His car mode looks amazing thought, in terms of paint and mold.
lockdown transformation is just like roadbuster and why they didnt use roadbuster chest for hot rod chest cause if they use it and remold it to centenario its more accurate

Hot Rod is my favorite all time transformer I will for sure get him I just wish they made his feet look more like they do in the movie and have him guns but I have a few spare guns so not that big of a deal
the two little thin plastic pieces on the back of his head are pretty fragile mines already has stress marks from turning the head around in transformation I just keep the head facing forward.

Well that's somewhat true. In Japan Hot Rod was actually called Hot Rodimus and Rodimus Prime was called Rodimus Convoy.
