You forgot to mention the Help button. Once you have a code on the screen, press it and it will tell you what the code means and what the problem may be.
If I took a shot everytime you said "OBD Code Reader" I would be in the ER and possibly dead......LOL

What if you plug in while key ignition on position does that do any damage ?

I hook the cable to my computer and when I'm finish using unit, I really have a hard time to pull out cable from plug do you have the same problem?

Can this go to Vehicle a/t menu and see if the trans is going in to park reverse nurtural and drive it should be under current data for the shift lever switch
I want to see if it is going in those gears on the ecu because the car is not going into those gears sometimes (drive and nurtural)

Foxwell seem to make great products, but I don't know how their supposed "unit of measure" names passed through so many checks before their devices are released. Metric is a system of measurements (The metric system), not a "unit" of measurements. English is a language, not a system of measurements and especially not a "unit of measurement". They're referring to the Imperial system; inches, pounds etc. "Unit of measure" doesn't even make any sense.
I get that same code on my Lexus if I use a low-quality fuel or put a fuel system cleaner additive in the tank, The system is picky and will give that code for low-quality fuel or additives, once it runs through or I put a quality fuel in the system that code goes away on its own.
Will this show misfire data?
Hi, I just bought the nt301. Will this reset moniters. I fixed what needed fixing and got the CEL to go out, but still have moniters stored. TIA
Thanks for watching, it does reset the monitors on some cars, not all. If it does reset your cars monitors your car will need to go through the drive cycles again before the monitors are ready for testing. Thanks for watching!

I bought the nt201. I tried running it on my sisters car and I get ! Red light like yours. But it takes me to the IM readiness and not a code???
Lol, you did the same thing I did. Even though there’s a big blue button in the middle that you would think is the button to press, it’s not. That’s the readiness button. Press the black enter button and it should give you the codes. I have no idea why they didn’t color the enter button as well.
I got the NT301 plus and mine will not turn on after I plug it into my cars port.. Any ideas why its not working? I can hook it up to a computer and it turns on and I did the updates. Any help appreciated thanks

Hi! My husband just received this Code Reader yesterday, and is pretty discouraged as he does not know the meanings of the abbreviations that the meter gives. Is there a chart that explains all the abbreviations?
Surely the internet could help. Search- “OBD (abbreviation)”

I’m sure this is too late for you, but Project Farm recently reviewed the differences in affordable OBD scanners.
After the reading, I never get a Diagnostic menu so I can Read Codes…anyone know??
NOTE.. If you do plan on taking your car to a mechanic DO NOT ERASE YOUR CODES . Your mechanic will thank you, if you erase the codes and they do not come back by the time you are in the shop, the mechanic has nothing to go off of other than what you tell him, to leave the codes in the system so the mechanic can look at them with his own tools and know what to tackle, this will save him time and save you $$ in labor costs.

I don't know much abt cars. But for it to pass the emissions test, do they all need to say OK or is it fine if there's some INC or N/A?
Sorry no one got back to you. I’m a little so you may have already figured it out but inc means that monitor is incomplete and has not set. N/A means not applicable. You don’t have to worry about those.
N/A means it’s not applicable in your car ( your car doesn’t have that system). INC means inconclusive and the system is working on it. For cars around 1997 and older you can have two INC and pass the emissions test 1997 and newer your allowed only 1 INC to pass the emissions test. Hope this helps man

@@ToddsGarage I think I just need to read the trouble codes and take a picture of them as part of my job. I am not sure if I will have to do a more in depth diagnostic. I decided to order this one today as it had over 16k positive reviews and only cost me around 65 bucks on Amazon with the 3 year protection plan from Assurant. Thank you for uploading this video. If you have any more tips for ODB2 scanners and car inspections I'd appreciate it.
@@ToddsGarage I have this exact reader. Will this reader read codes that won’t trigger the check engine light to come on? I have several issues with my Tahoe but it won’t throw a code.

@@naunotrujillo7944 I haven't used it in the official capacity yet, but I tested it on my 2018 Hyundai Elantra SE and a 2006 Buick Lucerne and it worked fine. Of course, both cars are running fine and there were no codes to display. However, this handy tool will save you from spending a lot of money by not having a stealership diagnose the problem at $125 an hour.
I’ve got 4 lights on and this thing read one code so I’m not so sure it’s reliable.

You can read only motor codes with that tool
Appears not to play nicely with R56 Minis. Goes through a 4-minute routine and then says "not communicating." Have triple checked connections.
Is your key on? Update the nt301?
