Very helpful with great analogies as well as informative; I didn't know pedals and other things had headroom. Thank you. You really have a handle on the subject.
Thanks man, I've been meaning to do more of this kind of thing but my PC is dying on me so I'll need to get a new one before I can do any more recording :(
So headroom is just a synonym of "power"? Because its power that you run short of when an amp can't produce enough volume to track the signal dynamics, and it starts distorting.
That's why 50 watts amps are very good for small/medium gigs. You get to push it more without it being overly loud and still get all the saturation you need.
Hmm... I should make a video comparing the volume difference between 50 and 100 watts. It honestly isn't that much. The ratio is for double the volume you would need 10x the power so to be twice as loud as a 50 watt amp you would need to go to 500 watts, not 100. Going to a 100 watt amp will give you about a 3dB volume bump which is... slightly louder.
@@TheBlueFalcon07 that's right but most player prefer their amp on a certain volume settings, because it's sound different. On a ac30 the volume gets too loud before it starts to break up. On an ac15 the amp starts to break up a little before the amp is overly loud for my liking. That has to do with headroom of course. Even though you can easily resolve the problem with a power attenuator...
Simple yet effective explanation.
Pretty simple explanation actually without overanalyzing. Thanks man!
Thanks man.....good explanation !!!
When you said "... world's largest dump..." I subscribed :-)
Thanks man
