Props to Supro for not flooding social media with each new product. They’re making some great sounding amps these days and imho it’s never a bad thing to try to hand build some products in your home country for people that value that and are willing to pay to support it. Small market yes, but an important one imho. It’s what I rely on too!
It seems to really like working with the Strat! Supro is a terrific company and builds equipment that lasts. The Supro I had a long time ago was a workhorse. Thanks Phil!
I have the Delta King 12 with the 1x12 combo. Just an amazing unit. It's only 15-watt but you would not believe how loud it can get. And it is working it's ass off at higher volumes, which is exactly what you want. This thing sounds amazing too.
Yeah mate, lve got the BK12 (15w) sounds great, but runs hot & being PCB not point to point not sure how long its made to last...lve whacked a small fan in the back to move a bit of air. So far so good!
I am an avid lover of Supro amplifiers. I was in the midst of learning amp repair and, of course, quickly bumped into Supro amps several yrs ago. Supro did not make amps in the 50's, they were made in Chicago by Valco. The same amps were sold under several brand names
WOW! I own a delta king 12 which has the same control layout. The master/volume controls work amazingly on it & I am glad to see they carried into an american made high end model.
It’s nice to see a halo product from Supro. Phil’s spot on saying it’s a good an idea to design and build a premium product, then figure out to capture that spirit and flavour at different price points. I’m not a huge Supro fan personally, but I respect and appreciate what they do. I’m looking forward to see where they go from here.
I bet Mrs. McKnight would be very happy having one of those in your living room! It’s beautiful and really can be played at levels that aren’t gonna be disruptive without compromising on the tone quality. Just a stunning amp in every possible way! (Anyone wanna sponsor me?! 😇🙏🏻 . . . 😬 . . . 🥶🤷🏼♀️ . . . )
A 25 watt, "class A" cathode biased tube amp being driven by a pair of 6V6's? I'd really like to know how they're doing that, it seems to defy the laws of physics. Regardless, it's a beautiful looking and sounding amp. We need to see what's under the hood. It's good to see they're bringing back the mojo that the Supro brand deserves.
It's totally not my thing as I absolutely need high gain to cover up my lack of talent. But that is a beautiful amplifier. And it sounds as good as it looks. I hope these do well for Supro and the players who buy them.
I do love a good 1 x 12 tube combo but like the 2x10s even more for the extra punch and articulation; even if it wouldn't move as much acoustic air . Great video, informative👍🎸
@@medley4570 l dunno mate, maybe they do (lve only ever had a go on a Peavey Classic with a 15in spkr)..at a shop, not in anger. I did lend a mates 4 X 10 Marshall when we were gigging (a long time ago!) & liked it better than the 4 x 12.... that are useless now with db meters everywhere.. but 10s cut through a mix well & depending on the cab.. there's still gd bass response.
Yes; a lot of the expense must go into the cabinet, so it would probably be possible to sell a head only version for significantly less. That said, a lot of the amp's appeal is in the cabinet.
I have three Supro US assembled Amps, so in general I’m a fan. I was surprised how unloud the amp showed on the db meter. Other blue tolex 25 watt Supros also are on the quiet side. They sound terrific and unique- they do need micing however. Ymmv.
It is a very good looking and very nice sounding amp. Phillip plays very well and gave a pretty thorough rundown of the amp. One of the selling points is that this amp is "hand-built" in the USA. That phrase caught my attention because it's a little different from what I might expect to hear about from a 1x12 combo amp that costs over $3K. And sure enough, upon further review the amp contains a printed circuit board (PCB). Not that there is anything inherently wrong with PCB based amplifiers, but for over $3K I would have expected to hear "point to point hand wired in the USA" rather than just "hand-built". Not that there is anything inherently better about point to point hand wired amplifiers, but for a 1x12 combo amp priced over $3K it's kind of what I would expect. The PCB may be stuffed at the USA factory, but where is the PCB is manufactured? Another selling point is the Celestion Greenback speaker, which more than likely is made in China these days. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with Chinese Celestion speakers or PCBs manufactured outside the USA. Anyway, those are just a couple of price point observations I made. The amp is nonetheless beautiful and sounds great!
Hello Philip, Hope your doing well. I am a Bass player and I have to say that I am very impressed with this amp. Supro I think you hit a grand slam with this amp. Sounds unbelievable & she does look magnificent. Great 👍👍 demo Philip. Stay safe and well and keep Rocking.
Nice amp!! Its got that toothy 6v6 drive...likes single coils and buckers... Hate to see the price once they get to Australia tho... The BK12 was $1k here (& thats pcb & runs hot!).
I had a 1624T from when Absara brought the brand back and it was amazing. Wouldn't say it was very reliable though as when I sold it, it turns out the power tube sockets had crapped out
Thanks for the first look at the amp. It feels like Supro is trying to give the guitar community a good look at the amp, not just push it in front of everyone to sell a bunch.
Outstanding Amp! Too bad I'm stuck here at home so the only way to keep the pain is by keeping busy. I've played for 50 years and I still record as a string musician, a teacher and now a electric guitar builder. When I finish my guitars I'll write again to share pictures and keep going to each one I multi-task to get her done, I think?
Kinda has an old Gretsch vibe to it....visually anyway. It's not my kind of amp because I don't use overdrive. The most exciting tube amp of the last 20 years to me was the short lived 1X15 Gretsch Executive built by Victoria. Their prices have gone way up since Gretsch stopped selling them. Younger players will probably love what the Supro offers for their style of playing.
Holy crap that sounds good. I could never justify one, but I have a Black Magick Reverb and it's really nice. The reverb is the best part. It's dreamy and addictive. That thing seems like it definitely jives better with the master down low than the bm, but I'm not complaining.
YES... Yes YES yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes...........thank you..... .... you have yet to fail me on gathering knowledge. ....been watching for years.... ....i learn something new EVERY time..... ...every time. Thank you. I have a Delta 10.......love it. ...yes.
This sounded good. The reverb was a bit too intense. It carried on for too long. I've heard other real spring reverbs give the big room sound without the signal lasting so long.
Just wanted to say I can tell you have really improved your channel across the board everything is more professional and to the point. Congratulations! and keep up the good work!
A clean AC-30 or 1959 convinces me more, but also a 5F1, 5F2 or even a Tubemeister. Plus, they all have the options to sound much hotter too. Obviosuly only something for hardcore Supro fans, not seriously something for me.
Nice, real nice. $$$ nicer for someone else other than me. I did not appreciate the tone for the $$$. I suggest a number of other amps could provide not only better tone, but more variety of tones too, even if you threw pedals at the Supro - the difference being the looks, that Supro has the look that kills.
Would have been nice to hear that Ricky just behind you being played through that Supro. Ps: my VHT (FRYETTE) CL Pitbull 50 was $1100.00 less than the SUPRO at $3200.00
I didn't know this was coming. I went back and watched it from the beginning, it sounds great! 20/25 W seems to be the sweet spot. Good for playing out and home. I wonder if they will offer a head? Maybe a few $$ less? I've been looking at several in this price range. Great review!! --gary
Thank you for a great video Phil. An american 60's strat if i'm not mistaken. Loved how it interacted with the Supro amp. Might sell a few of my other Fender strats to get Tthat one. Is it a 62-63-ish strat by any chance? Looks and sounds amazing. The Supro amp too. I'm a swedish musicproducer who plays electric guitar and on a fretless P-bass i've built. Greetings from Stockholm ~Rob
I see a mirror image model that can sit next to this so it all looks symetrical and it could be used in stereo..imagine that, a twin set , left and right version with 1x10" Celestion alnico in both! Phil..I mean Mr NcKnight how can I get one without the dough? BtW, the Fender sounded really good, pick and pluck those strings no plectrum some-times so we can hear it plucked and strummed. Cool, get the 2x10" , we need to hear it.
Thanks for not shoving pedals into it, nice just to hear the amp on its own. I’m sure it will be a perfect pedal platform as are many ( the majority) of amps now. Only wish at that price would have been tremolo.
It looks like a copy of the Valco Grestch amps from the 60s I think. Very cool. However they should have done a tremalo in it. Unfortunately their production amps are pricey and one like this is 😵💫😵 I'm still a fan of the Fender pawn shop series. Vintage inspired amps at a price the average Joe can afford. I use my Excelsior on the daily.

The amp sounds better with more high end in the input. It seems to be a pretty mellow sounding amp.

I love the classic sounds out of this amp. I think it would pair very well with a SG. The deep reverb tone is killer.

love the badlands button down

That with that strat, best tone I've heard on here since the first badlands guitar!
This was great to watch Phil and to feel it wasnt saturated on the internet. Love it.

I always wonder that too, with two power tubed. Maybe it’s Class A single-ended up to 5-6 watts and then some magical switchery to AB?
It's totally not my thing as I absolutely need high gain to cover up my lack of talent. But that is a beautiful amplifier. And it sounds as good as it looks. I hope these do well for Supro and the players who buy them.
Thanks for the db meter!!!!!!
Yes; it's really helpful to get an idea of what the levels are at various settings.
There's a supro at a local music store. Has the best clean tone I've heard to date
Man I really dig this amp! It just has that sound. Perfect for me… I’m gonna keep a look out for this and hope the price drops 😊
Jesus that SUPRO Sounds incredible!
Man; that looks and sounds very cool. I’m not in the market for a $3.5k amp, but if I was…
Supro nailed it. Nice amp
A LOT of better options at that price point!!! Cool looking but I'll stick with Swart.
Love my Atomic Jr., glad I bought it 2 years ago when it was 1250.00 instead of what they cost now.
i agree....whats your list???? i owned many 3k amps
CARR Super Bee, Magnatone Varsity Reverb and a Two Rock Bloomfield Drive combo@@soofitnsexy
i owned the bee incredible amp!!!@@ffbai

I agree.. the 2 x 10s will have those punchy upper mids, plus the 6v6 bite...be gd to hear one.
I believe 2 10s will move the same amount of air as a single 15" if you calculate the surface area of the cones.

It's nice they're keeping the Valco aesthetic. It looks like a Gretsch amp in brown and a National in black.
Thank you Phil for showing us such a wonderfully sounding amp.....
it brings out the great sounds of the strat
A wonderful-looking and sounding amp. I'm a Supro user (Delta King), so always great to see and hear their new stuff.

Great reaction, breakdown and demo vid P.M. the clean tone on this amp is beautiful, well done Supro

Nice classic sound on all levels.
Would love to hear this amp played along side some of the other Supros like the Amulet or Royale. Great video as always!
exactly....i feel it will not sound or feel 2k more

I've always loved the Supro sound!
Doesn't even have an effects loop for that price?
As always, thanks for the review Phil
That is a gorgeous amp and sounds just as good.
WISHED THEY'D MAKE IT IN A DARK GREEN. THAT MY FRIEND WOULD BE COOL AS ....!
1:37 It would look like something that belongs in your grandparent's house. Looks like furniture from the 1960's or 1970's.
