This is on the list because it sounds great , however, I am considering a st james el34 combo 50 w because it is so powerful and clean.. have you tried the st james?
How's the reverb? I heard it was weak, despite being spring. Also, any knowledge on how it compares to the Amulet? No dealers near me unfortunately and every amp online seems to have five stars on any online store!
Have you tried it as amplification for a digital modeler? The amp has a power amp input that allows you to bypass the preamp and use the Delta King as a Class A power amp. Wondering how it does double duty in addition to just being a decent tube amp in its own right.
I LOVE this amp. I sold my Marshall JVM (30kgs...) and got this bad boy. I am not disappointed. For such a small amp, it somehow sounds like a loud amp. It sounds like TUBE. I don't know how else to describe it, but as soon as I plugged in my guitar and started playing, a big smile appeared on my face. You can feel the tubes bursting out of this amp, and it even sounds great at low volume. If you want a very sensitive, expressive amplifier that you can play at bedroom levels, this amp rocks.
It’s a great amp I have one as well , thinking I would upgrade it a bit I bought tube doctor premium tubes for mine and when I took it apart to change the tubes I was supro ised 😂 to see how good the stock tubes were when I looked them up .. Good job supro for not skimping on good tubes .
Fantastic review. I had no idea this amp existed until yesterday when I saw it at GC. I was stunned that it's tubed and has drive/boost functions. I've been looking for something similar to my 1982 Fender Champ II...which is an 18w 1x10 and has a similar gain knob and is great. The Super Delta K12 will be my next amp.
I just bought the Supro Delta King 10 for Chicago blues harmonica for home use. Loving it so far. Stick a noise gate and delay pedal in front, using a Green Bullet or similar bullet mic and it sounds great!!
Nice demo! I swapped in an Eminence Swamp Thang, and it brought out some tonal qualities I love about this amp. It also got much louder which helped it ‘punch above its weight’.
@@Tecniconta If you think your amp is too bright, the REX will tame it down. Eminence has other 10" options as well. Go to their website and look at the characteristics for each 10" speaker.
I appreciate you mentioning the possible impact of changing the speaker in the DK 12, especially after talking about some of the weaknesses. That could make a huge difference. Then you mentioned that it uses 6L6's and I noted the plural. I thought it just had one power tube. So is it one or two?
I have the Delta King 10", I had thought about changing the speaker for an Eminence Cannabis Rex, how do you see it? And if there is a better option, which one would you recommend
The Delta King is just the Blues King without the effects loop in a different package (and a higher price), right? I prefer the effects loop. I wonder why people who use modeling gear would want this -- there are dedicated tube amps for that.
Is the Black Magick just the bigger version of this or is it voiced differently? One speaker I’d be curious to hear in this is the Celestine Josh Smith!
What model is the black D' angelico you are playng? Also i got the jest from you overview that this amp does not have much clean head room and would probably be drowned out by a loud drummer? also is this considered a bedroom amp? Thank you.
The predecessor to this amp (Blues King) had an effects loop. I think some people had issues with the loop, which I heard is the reason it wasn't included in the design for the Delta King.
The speaker that I consider the vintage master of tone is the Celestion Greenback. I have heard amps A/B with this and I know it is a better speaker. The only detriment is that it only handles 25 watts. Boom perfect match. I'm sure the stock speaker is very good. I have heard it my gawd the tones are unreal. I would like to hear somebody A/B this amp with a Greenback. Nobody wants to spend extra money if it does not benefit. But if it is a true upgrade, yes all day long.
I have this amp and I pretty much bought it on your suggestion/review last year. I agree with just about all of what you said. I haven' had the opportunity to put it in a band context yet, but what you're saying about the one or two tones, makes complete sense. You really can cover everything with this amp, even without pedals. I will say that the "drive" switch could really use some sort of control on the gain. It's a lot of gain compared to what the rest of the amps vibe is like. I switched out the stock speaker with a Celestion cream back, but only because I had one... I'm actually kinda curios to A/B them (I never did because I'm lazy). My biggest con on the amp is the lack of markings on the control plate... It drives me bonkers! I'd really like to have some markings that I can refer to mentally instead of, kind of about here for mids, somewhere around here for bass etc. The EQ is VERY sensitive and interactive, and it would just be nice to put it at say,...5 or 6 instead of in the middle-ish. It would've been great if they included the footswitch, as I think that's almost a necessity if you were to use this live. The boost works great! I'm not crazy about the drive (distortion) though. I did recently purchase a D&M drive and the boost side of that pedal makes this amp really come to life! I could see it making the amp more gig-able. Still seems small for anything too loud as far as gigging goes though (unless mic'd of course). Overall, I think the amp is great! I do find myself fiddling with the EQ almost every time I play it though. That could be because I have a curious 7yr old that just switches things on and likes to twist knobs when I'm not looking though. Long story short (too late) you pretty much sold me on this amp if that helps. @supro #supro are listening?
@@victorpatron1209 I've had 2 Bkues Jrs, a regular, and an FSR (Fender Special Run). Both needed a speaker swap. Unless it's a BJr that comes with a non Fender speaker, imho they always do. I have had no inclination to change the Supro's speaker. Supro was already less expensive, but add a speaker to BJr price, even more so. I also like Edge of Breakup tones, which I just think the Supro is so much better at. It's clean tones are fuller, and less brittle in the top end like the BJr is. I also prefer 6L6 tone to the BJr's EL84s. BUT, the biggest thing that separates them is every BJr I have had or tried, sounds boxy. The Supro doesn'r.
If you’ve tried the newer Blues Jr (version 4) I believe all those issues have been addressed. It’s a considerably improved amp over version 3 or previous models.

Great review & intro music Jack.
Glad you like it!
Love the classic rock rhythm sound with the tele.
Great sound and playing! I've just ordered the Supro Amulet. Hope it sounds as good as thus, even better 😏
How do you like the Amulet?
yes plz Jack. Speaker swap i have the bluesking 12 same amp go for it . great review, very informative and precise. thx

Took the words outta my mouth! 👍🏼
@Bio Hazard yep, it sounds great. I have the master volume all the way up and use the pre amp & guitar knob for volume

Does it need an overdrive pedal to get that breakup sound or is there just something wrong with my pre gain volume?

Nice! I have the Swamp Thang in my Fender Blues Jr. What a difference from the stock speaker!
@@texasbootlegger3752 I bet. Stock speaker on (the older, can’t speak to new ones) BJr blows. Fuzz sounds horrible in it due to lack of headroom.

I own one and love it. I did replace the knobs - the stock ones are hard to see where they are set. Put some white chicken heads on and all is well🎉
Where did you get them?
Pigtronic OD is the circuit in the Delta King.
Thanks a lot
Can you say that the clean is not quite enough in live settings are you talking volume wise?
Still sounds great!!

What was your inspiration for your epic intro jam?I feel a bit of Alicia Keys vibes but a bit more rock n roll...
Thanks! That’s an original song called Walk This Road Alone, which is almost finished
@@JackFossett this is a really nice song

The 1696RT Black Magick is totally different and of course more expensive. I use my Black Magick at small gigs.
I saw you have or had a Fender Champ x2, which would you recommend more, The Delta Blues 12 or the Fender Champ X2?
What model is the black D' angelico you are playng? Also i got the jest from you overview that this amp does not have much clean head room and would probably be drowned out by a loud drummer? also is this considered a bedroom amp? Thank you.
They should make a 30 watt Delta King to get more clean headroom. Give it a pair of 6L6GC tubes, an fx loop, and you’re set.
I’ve thought the same thing. Also if the drive knob Control had a separate set of controls it would make it way more usable across the board
@@JackFossett Well see what Surpo puts out there at NAMM in April.

Or you can use external 2x12 cabinet. Adding a 12" speaker gives you roughly the same additional 3dB that you get by doubling the power (15W vs 30W).

Can't believe the whole chassis has to be removed to change the tubes ..... only 2 tubes. What genius came up with that ?
It’s not that bad , there are many amps that are the same .. took me like 5 min
I wanna buy this amp but with the 10inch speaker and 5watt power..do you think it would be to loud for an apartment? I play mostly clean
Yo lo tengo en un piso y no tengo problema, eso si, si lo pones bien alto de volumen acabarás enfadando y mucho al vecino !!! 😂😂
Big like for all your reviews! Thank you!
Thank you too!
can it chug?
How about sticking in a 5751 in the preamp and a 6L6GC in de poweramp? I find the breakup somewhat harsh sometimes...
If you don't mind having to remove THE ENTIRE CHASSIS just to change the 2 tubes ....... genius design , right?
Can a EL34 be used or do you need to bias it?
I RECOMEND THE CELESTION ALNICO BLUE!!!
Does it get edge of breakup at lower volume’s ?
Jack, have you ever used the power amp input ?
That tele is pimp af
