    What an outstanding musician Leonhardt was! I'm deeply greatful for all that wonderful music he gave us, and for having him heard live. Thank you, protestant7, for uploading this!

    This cantata is one of the most beautiful of JSB. . It was composed before the series in Leipzig - in fact, in Mulhausen in 1707.

    One of my favourite Cantatas. Years ago I was in Venice and I had the chance to attend to a concert of Gustav Leonhardt, solo harpsichord, in the church "La Pietà", the church of Antonio Vivaldi. Great cembalist and great conductor, gentle and delicate so I remember Leonhardt.
    I learn today of his death. When did he die?
    Thank you for posting this wonderful touching music of the Greaest, JSB!

    probably closer to 100 years, if that, in fairness. And it does fit in with the Cantata's theme, as a funeral cantata. So fair call in some respects for the uploader.

    3. Arioso: "Ach, Herr, lehre uns bedenken"
    リコーダとテナーのアリアが美しい。
    この曲に限らずカンタータではリコーダがよく使われてますね。

    Caspar david friedrich und Bach! You're a genius, i always thought they kind of fit tooo.

    Are we kindred spirits, or what?

      Bach and Caspar David come from different era. But the two of them are similar to grasp trancendentalism of nature and human.

    It's certainly an odd choice... The painting is by Caspar David Friedrich, famous for being one of the most Romantic painters, doesn't really fit in with a Baroque cantata written about 150 years earlier.

    • @nanaj.3597
      @nanaj.3597 3 года назад

      Caspar David Friedrich may not fit the timeline, but his paintings praised God and his almightyness and human transience in incolours as much as Bach did with his music.
      Both had the same theme. This painting fits perfectly in my opinion.

      even only rudimentary art historical education would teach you that this is caspar david friedrich, germany's most famous romantic painter - who painted instagram selfies two centuries before today. add that old abbey in the snow to it, and you got two major reasons 'why' the poster chose the image for a bach cantata.

    • @frenchiecocorico1
      @frenchiecocorico1 9 лет назад +2

      Herr VonColson Because the painting remind the sad and gloomy atmosphere of the cantata that J.S Bach composed for his uncle's death "God's reign is the best one"

    • @pony8136
      @pony8136 8 лет назад +2

      +Herr VonColson Who cares? The painting obviously matches the mood/themes of the music, so it's a good choice...

      @pony8136 8 лет назад +1

      +Jesse Braid And Bach's music is timeless in a sense; you could use art from any era. Why does it matter?

    • @frenchiecocorico1
      @frenchiecocorico1 8 лет назад

      +Jesse Braid Evidently this cantata is believed to have been composed for the funeral of one of Bach''s uncle

    • @jamesgardner3209
      @jamesgardner3209 8 лет назад +1

      +frenchiecocorico1 That is correct, I think it was for uncle Sam, brother in law of Barbara who die suddenly after eating a skinless frankfurt that did not have anything inside and a white version of a swarzbrot. Poor Sam, Lest we forget!
