One of my favourite Cantatas. Years ago I was in Venice and I had the chance to attend to a concert of Gustav Leonhardt, solo harpsichord, in the church "La Pietà", the church of Antonio Vivaldi. Great cembalist and great conductor, gentle and delicate so I remember Leonhardt. I learn today of his death. When did he die? Thank you for posting this wonderful touching music of the Greaest, JSB!

Caspar david friedrich und Bach! You're a genius, i always thought they kind of fit tooo. Especially this song and painting. Are we kindred spirits, or what?
It's certainly an odd choice... The painting is by Caspar David Friedrich, famous for being one of the most Romantic painters, doesn't really fit in with a Baroque cantata written about 150 years earlier.
Caspar David Friedrich may not fit the timeline, but his paintings praised God and his almightyness and human transience in incolours as much as Bach did with his music. Both had the same theme. This painting fits perfectly in my opinion.
