  • Four Traction Engines ranging in size from an actual 1905 BEST, a 5" scale 1887 RUSSELL, a 3" scale 1920s CASE, and a 1" scale 1900s MASON.
I was able to capture video of the 1905 BEST at Fremont's Ardenwood Park back in 2004.
The half scale (5 inch scale?) RUSSELL replica was built by Dianne Best of Winnipeg around 1995. It joined the Redwood Valley Railway around 2016.
The quarter-scale CASE was started by Herman Voltz. When approximately 25% complete, Golden Gate Live Steamer (GGLS) Charlie Reiter received the project. Jerry Kimberlin, also of GGLS, built a baler to go with it.
The 1" scale MASON was built by GGLS member Stan James. It was built using the L.C. Mason "Minnie" drawings.
