I recall back in the day when 465s were replacing 415s and they were so modern exciting and new that I have a hard time feeling your distance for them. I get that they have been neglected and have had hard lives, but I still think, from a passenger perspective, they are well designed and thought out trains let down by being worked hard and not had the best maintenance.
Tbf valid points, but they also had valid points. Why are more than half the seats broken? There's no way that's neglect; they were obviously never screwed on properly to begin with.
They should have 'disgusting class 465 repay', a scheme like delay repay, that will give you compensation if you travel on a class 465 that hasn't been looked after.
465/9s are the best networkers. In some cases they are better than 375s. 465/9s do have 3+2 seating, some units creak due to age and are limited to 75mph, but they offer a smooth ride and met cam motors. 375s and 377s tend to bounce a lot at speed, and 375/9s offer 3+2 seating. 375s are overall better, but i wouldn't mind a 465/9. I'm not a fan of the BREL 465s and 466s, they have worse interiors and often smell worse than a 465/9
I you think the 465s are crap, you should see the crap we have to put up with on Northern services. The 150s and 319s up here make the 465s look like a definite step up!
The class 395 is the best train on Southeastern period. The toilets are always clean & work. The seats are comfortable & they are fast. The 707’s are nice trains, but they are uncomfortable to sit for any period on & are a lot newer, so will always seem better. My ranking: 1) 395 2) 375 3) 377 4) 707 5) 376 6) 465 (Orange) 7) 465 (Blue) 8) 466
The Class 465 Rant was funny and I think that Squirrel was shocked that it on a Class 465. Really nice review of the SouthEastern EMUs.... also after my train from Ramsgate to London after visiting Thanet Parkway was a Class 375 and found them rough riders a little.... But I think I was under the wheels
I mean I don't know because they're replacing 147 4 coach trains and 43 2 coach trains with 30 5 coach trains. They will replace them completely in 2027/2028 when they figure out what more to replace them with
I have to go on 465s everytime I go to London as a visit my family in Bromley and I HATE THEM WITH A PASSION. DOWN WITH NETWORKERS! UP WITH THE CITY BEAMS!
The 376s have served Bromley in the past but they're exceedingly rare nowadays - due to platform lengths on the line between Bromley and Victoria, they can only run the 376s (and 707s) as a single 5-carriage set - if it's a 10-carriage set, then they either have to skip stops or use Selective Opening - in particular, Brixton and Herne Hill are the most problematic as they have junctions on one or both ends of the station, which a train would foul if it is longer than 8 carriages. Typically for this reason, it is rare (but again not impossible) to see 376s and 707s at Victoria - your best chance is if you can catch a Sidcup or Barnehurst service from there, either due to engineering or other disruption. Which is why Bromley is stuck with 465 Networkers!
Come on my line Great Northern, they just got ride of the Class 365 which were in better condition than the 465's, i'm guessing their a lot of vandalism in and out of London on the Southerneastern route. must cost the company a fortune to repair them, Love the 700 though, not a great fan of the class 387's.
No working toilets on a South Eastern service...what a surprise 😂 Tbh living in Tunbridge Wells coming into London i just care that i can get a seat, the train is punctual and i can use a toilet if necessary. Ive literally got no interest in the types of train
All networkers are better than the horrible 376s The 377 with green seats is because it's an ex southern unit. I've never ridden the 707 or javelins so I cant comment but of the rest: original 375 is best by far, 376 is worst. Why do I hate the 376? No toilets, horrible seats that are far worse than those on the 700s that everyone moans about, stupid perch seats that are even less comfortable still, sliding doors that rattle like crazy. And the "2+2" seating is actually pitched more like 2+3, but with a seat removed. So, OK, there's no middle seat, but they're still narrow! The networkers used to be pretty decent trains for their time, but it's fair to say that they've seen better days. The inter-carriage doors have always been fernikity but (back when I last used them regularly) they did usually work, albeit they often required extra persuasion (button jiggling, hand waving, etc). Maybe they gotten much worse in more recent years though. I also really like the blue+white livery on the networkers, as well as the original nse livery. The yellow and grey seen on the 376s is horrible (is this still seen on some networkers and 375s?)
I have commute on 376s quite alot, and let me tell you, they are atrocious, i legit have to get these to school sometimes as my school is in Abbey Wood, they are in really bad condition and the livery is worn out, thank god they are being refurbished
I can't see why people hate the 465s I think that the 465s are decent trains. If you want bad trains take a ride on a pacer (this only now can be done by visiting an heritage railway that has them) that were dubbed the most hated train in the UK but if the pacers were hated so much why did around half of the pacers started new lives in preservation and one is in the national collection. I would like to see the networker units to be preserved. You may hate the 465s at the moment but when the last of them go you will be the first ones to cry when their replacements are so bad that makes you want to be back on a 465 again.
The class 376 is legit so bad if i find out i have one i take an alternative form of travel. You'd be hard pressed to find a worse train. Also i can name waay too many differences between 465/466 and they are both far from bad.

Good point. I've been on a 153 (similar to a 150) and they certainly are not good trains.
The 377 is actually ex FCC (later Thameslink) who ordered them with southern interiors
if i saw a broken seat i’d gladly steal that seat cushion
Southeastern have just announced that they're taking bids for replacement of the 465s. I know you all, especially Hugh, will be happy

Incorrect, 466s have always been 466s since new. 34 of the 465/2s were refurbished to make a new subclass 456/9 back in 2005.
