They moved away from Cannonball’s storyline of being an External when Marvel was possibly facing legal challenges from the tv show, the Highlander. There was still no explanation to Cannonball’s self resurrection. In the beginning of Hickman’s X of Sword’s storyline, the Arrako mutant; The White Sword of the Ivory Spire, was initially written as an immortal External. Lastly, how do these Externals not know about mutants over hundreds and even thousand years old mutants like 1) Romulus, his twin, 2) Remus, or even 3) Azazel. Romulus moved around world history during the Roman Empire, this was way before Gideon’s time of Columbus. If Krakoa and Earth can have these many Externals, then there should have been more in Arrako and even during The Threshold period.
The real answer is that none of the characters existed back then. And The Externals were dead. I never thought that anyone liked them enough to bring them back. Other than Gideon and Selene, all of them suck.
The Externals a rare subspecies of mutant immortals of 9 or 10 (if you count Cannonball, which I do) who share a psychic-link. I'm sorry but I never once heard that the reason Cannonball being an External became question cause of a lawsuit from the Highlander tv series? Sure their are some similarities but not enough to sue, and Selene making everyone think Cannonball wasn't one was 4 years after the show started. Plus Marvel never changed the Externals, I mean if there was a lawsuit then they would have had to change them to but they haven't. I liked that Cannonball was one, and given that the others sense him which would only happen if he was an External. Marvel writers just changed their minds when the story arc of why Cable came back. But its still possible, they haven't 100% rewritten it off. Either way, there are only 10 Externals, and every immortal be it mutant or otherwise are not Externals. Romulus and Remus are long lived due to their healing factor and are not immortals. Azazel I think is immortal but not a true immortal in that if his killed he wont comeback. White Sword was said to be an External but that was proven to be a lie, and his powers listed showed he was not an External and possibly not a true immortal. At the moment there is Apocalypse, Cannonball, Gideon, Burke and Absalom and since they are true immortals the others will be back.
With the current stories at present, the other immortal mutants are just a different subsets. Different than the Externals, which still have to be explained further. Someone like Exodus was a follower of Apocalypse, but Exodus although an immortal mutant was not an external. Mister Sinister was not a mutant, but a mutate.
The tone of your voice makes you potential great voice-over actor if this channel goes belly-up,then jump ship into another carreer path/avenue,animations or games,ha?.
The Externals are more than anything an underdeveloped concept. There is just way way too much crap in the Marvel universe that take focus so that the actual qualitative stuff gets obscured. Marvel is just becoming more and more quantity over quality each year which makes it harder to harder to find the good stuff.
I like this channel for being an alternative to Comics Explained. Nice to have variety. However, please, please, please step up the quality. There’s so many grammatical and voice acting errors. Just give these videos some more care and it would really improve the channel. I’m saying this with love lol. You’re so close to having an A-level product. Just a bit more.
Yeah I'd ignore that cause nowhere as it ever been said that Saul remembers Pangaea, nor as it been said or hinted at that Crule was born in the first century. A lot of the information given is wrong and recycled wrong information at that.
Cable ran it down in X-force #25, how Apocalypse was the External Highlord who would later take over the world for centuries in the future. Cable's whole reason for coming back was to stop Apocalypse.
@@dannytarver4533 It was a pretty interesting story arc as to why Cable was looking for Cannonball and was trying to expose the Externals. Apparently 300 years before Cable grow up in the future ruled by Apocalypse, Apocalypse used the other Externals to rise to power and that's why Cable went back. There was talks of it going back to 1992's X-Force 9. But sadly they dropped that story arc and had Selene make everyone question if Cannonball was even one of them in 1996's X-Force 54. Before the arc was dropped it felt like it was leading to a big event with Externals. Sure the had that big moment, kinda, in last years Excalibur 12. But even that was way to short, and I felt they were done dirty.
I love these types of videos because they keep me from going through tons of comics to read what I want. This storyline is something I've been wanting to read again for a long time. I thought Selene was retconned to being a Succubus, because that's what she really is.
Imagine Apocalypse (the 20th Century Fox Film Version) vs. MCU Dr. Strange and Scarlet Witch, interesting 2 on 1 fight/Battle! Imagine if He decided make them 2 of the 4 replacements for his New 4 Horsemen, interesting plot twist!
After seeing them botcher my all time favorite characters in the Externals I had to stop. 1. The Externals are a subspecies of mutants, and the 9 or 10 if you count Cannonball which I do share a psychic-link. This link allows them to know where each other are at all time, and the more experienced with it can tell what century the newest External will come to be. They can sense when a new External has come back from his first death, and not every death, but a true death at the hands of another External. An External can only truly be killed if another External eats the heart or drains their life force. But that External most do the same to all the other Externals or they'll all just come back. The External doing the killing takes on all the powers of the others, and if successful will become a god, but if they fail and the others come back all that power is gone. Not whatever they said. 2. It has been said that Nicodemus is millions of years old, and with mutants being revealed to be active a million years ago so it is possible he was there when the Eternal were.🤷♂ 3. Absalom, Gideon never hated him but rather Absalom disliked him cause of his arrogance. He was being arrogant and all that towards Cannonball cause he was infected by the Legacy Virus, it was a good comic and they should read it. They got it backwards, he was born Corey Flynn and took the name Absalom. The thing with stopping Candra happened in 1891, and his death happened in 1896. 4. Burke has brown hair not blonde, he is a precog and told the other that Cannonball was the key to helping them against the Legacy Virus. It is unknown when he teamed up with the other Externals in their group the High Lords or why he joined them so don't know where they got their info? He as only mentioned a few centuries in which he died so no he didn't live for a century, but rather 2 centuries that we know of. And he only mentioned wanting to die recently and after living for 2 centuries. When he and the other Externals sensed Cannonball was on of them he met the others at Nicodemus home in the Swiss Alps. The plan was to get Cannonball away from Cable by killing Cable, not Xavier or the X-Men. He didn't like the idea of using Crule nor did Absalom cause of who Crule is, not cause he thought Crule would fail. And it wasn't Cable that stopped Crule. 5. Candra formed the 2 guilds for protection and monetary tribute, also she created the Elixir of Life not Apocalypse. She created the Stone to hold a large some of her powers, to protect herself from the others. But she was wrong cause she thought they hurt her for not join the High Lords but the ones in the High Lords had no plan too. They also mash up a number of her stories to make them seem as one, but they are not. She learned to drain the life force of others to help restore her own, not death and already has telekinesis and mind control among other powers. 6. Crule was never exiled by the Externals, and nowhere does it say he was born in the first century. But rather its hinted that he was alive during the Hyborian Age, and joined the High Lords but didn't care for their rule the world games. He hates Gideon cause of something that happened between them half a century ago, and I already explained why he was sent after Cable. There is just too much to cover, like they left out how when Crule came back he teamed up with Selene, Nicodemus and Absalom to stop a future Gideon who killed Candra in Cable 150-154 comics that told the story. It was never said that Saul remembers Pangea or a hint of that, so another bit of information I have no clue as to where they got it from. Apocalypse is an External and as such, a true immortal, he got his second Celestial tech and the one that enhanced him after being already alive for 4,000 years. The Externals are a rare subspecies of immortal mutants, the High Lords were originally 6 of them banding together. They acted as a type of authority among the others, and kept the others from messing with each other like when Candra tried to steal Apocalypse' power. When the Legacy Virus hit it weakened their numbers, which Selene had been waiting for so she could strike. When they came back, they seem to have not bothered teaming up again, and now High Lords has become a subtitle for them all. But before that it could get confusing cause at times others would use High Lords to describe them all. Like Marvelous Videos 11 Oldest and Ultra-Powerful Mutants Who Controlled The World With Strings On Their Fingers, they used a lot of the same wrong information mix in with actual information for this video too 🤦♂🤦♂I love the Externals, they're one of my all time favorites and I could fill a whole page of more accurate information. It makes me feel bad for those who don't know these characters or are new and thinking all this information is 100% right. So please don't use Marvelous Videos, Wiki or any of that for accurate information for any comic book characters.
One of the worst ideas of the 90s, more plot holes than Swiss cheese, and completely unnecessary for basically anything. I mean, I’m watching the video, but the externals are straight up dumb as dirt.
Candra the X-ternal!! Marvel changed their name to Externals and are more powerful and badass than the Eternals and not having to milk their power from higher powers.
It was Externals first, the other title X-Ternals came after. Due you know who those 2 guys are on the thumbnail to this video? I mean we got Apocalypse in the middle, a guy that looks like the Human Torch on the right side, but who is the guy in the yellow jacket?
Wait, WHAT? Selene is DEFINITELY evil! She’s always been .

" A massive purpe violent behemoth.. Crule is undoubtedly the best of us to pull off assassinations... " - Externals
Marvel trying to hang with the Neil Gaiman's Endless. 😅😅😅
"Gideon is bald" * shows him and he has a super long green ponytail
Nicodemus is obviously named after the character from Secret of Nimh
Great video
The Externals is a nice little series to add a little sanity to Marvel's regular retcons... and justify Cannonball NOT being lame.
idk if he's really cool enough to roll with them tho
Cannonball isn't lame. The writers have just been butchering him since he joined the main X-men team.

TIL Apocalypse is an External. Never knew that.

I'm beginning to understand how Apocalypse is much older than everyone else. He may be the first Mutant, but he's an external.
And yet, as he says that, Selene is giving him the side eye.
Make videos on more eternals and cosmic entities such as: chronos, mentor , the stranger , inbetweener etc
