The F/A- 18 E/F can be used as an air superiority fighter for the Navy and Marines, but that’s usually left up to the F-15s or F-22s if possible, especially overland when/if you have the choice. Also, we can’t forget the E/A-18G Growler for Electronic warfare or Suppression of enemy Air defenses. Now with F-35C’s for the Navy and F-35B’s for The Marines they can work in tandem with Navy and Marine Corp Super hornets and it’ll only Make the Super Hornets deadlier with the F-35s radar, sensors, datalink, etc. I Wish the U.S. dropped Pakistan as an ally years and year ago and chose India( if India wanted that) as a military ally instead. Why? Both aircraft are great multi role fighters, but there are many models F-16s so finding parts and backup aircraft will be much easier. The online advantage that comes to mind is that the F-18 has a model that has great EW capability, while there are no F-16s that have the same capability.
