  • Preparing for Superbooth Berlin 2024, which is coming up next week!
We've been busy this year coordinating with mmalex to bring Plinky kits back to ‪@ThonkSynthDIY‬, and here's a little clip to show why we are so excited about it!
#Plinky is an #expressive polyphonic #synthesizer, with 64 pads arranged as 8 strings you can manipulate in pitch, timbre, and velocity with the #touch of your fingertips. It has a #lush verb and #beautiful delay, making it ideal for #fragile, #melancholic sounds. It can be used #standalone or as a 24HP module.
It is seen here receiving a #sequence of #chords via #MIDI, performed on our #Stolperbeats drum sequencer for #Eurorack. Enrica is altering the chords by changing the MIDI maps on the fly, and playing a melody on the touch #surface at the same time. The small desktop case is a ‪@4msCompany‬ #pod, the output module ‪@apolloview9305‬ Can-2 - both incredibly handy for small #mobile setups.
Plinky is #opensource and has seen great #hardware tweaks and improvements to the build experience, contributed by us and friends and fellow synthmakers ‪@thisisnotrocketscience3942‬, ‪@lpzwmodules‬ and ‪@nevetsokyeron‬ - the newest Rev 3 Kit has more pre-assembled parts, USB-C, an improved signal path and TRS MIDI on-board.
Come play Plinky at our booth Z361 at #Superbooth, 16-18 May 2024 at FEZ #Berlin.
Plus we are having two workshops:
At the Superbooth #DIY Area on May 18, 11:00
    and at #DIYKitDay ‪@klunkerkranich4643‬ on May 19, 16:00,
organized by Andreas Krach and ‪@berlinmodularsociety‬

Great little jam there! I just immediately went to Thonk to put my name down for a Plinky v3, only to find I’d already done it ages ago. Yay!

This sounds great! I'd love to know more about how you go about making Stolperbeats play chords. Is it hard to do?

The MIDI maps are all tuned to chords, so switching from one map to another plays a different chord (usually they would map to drum expanders).
When you long long press shuffle, Stolperbeats can capture the last incoming note from the MIDI in for each drum channel.
The workflow is play a not, click a knob, for six instruments, save - I'd say it's not super fast, it took maybe half an hour to set up for 32 chords.
Nevertheless, it's a fun hack to play around with.

@@MakingSoundMachines Ah ha, got it. I figured it was something like that. (Though I didn't know about long pressing shuffle.) I think I will stick to using other sequencers for notes and chords.

@@matthewcohen3228 yeah it's more like a fun hack. although one cool thing you can do, is if you stick with that midi recording mode, you can pick a lane and replace its notes on the fly (watch the Stolperbeats / Digitone clips from our channel for a demo)
