      Love this latest project, another beautiful winner, and Brilliant seems like a good app. It should be pointed out to them however that presenting a case study about turning dwellings into AirBnB properties (2:53) is particularly tone-deaf in a time of housing crisis and homelessness.

      Why are we shaming Japanese designers here ?

    • @goulash75
      @goulash75 6 дней назад +9

      @@Bondoz007 not so much shaming them as saying they (many of them at least) could learn a thing or two.
      To be fair, most of the apartments I lived in in Japan were fairly old (90's builds) but the rooms were dark, poky and unimaginative. Very cookie-cutter.
      Not to say there aren't some brilliant designers in Japan, but on the whole, I feel the small dwellings there could be better.
      Then again, I could probably say that about most of the apartments I've lived in. 🙃

    • @mrs.manrique7411
      @mrs.manrique7411 4 дня назад

      @@Bondoz007I was about it to say, all of these ideas have existed before, especially in Japan. Or even in RVs if we want to look closer at the topic of small space design. Gemma can be congratulated on her process without downgrading any others, especially when using a false generalization.

    I love this! Personally I'll just sleep on the couch because you could never get me to climb up and down that ladder on a daily basis. When I saw the initial video I couldn't imagine fitting in a bathroom, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a bedroom in that space but you did! And it doesn't look squished in, one can argue looking at the design that the house is that big because that's all that was needed, not that you had to make everything fit. I love tiny spaces like this.

    This is lovely Gemma! If the sofa/daybed is slightly raised you could have pull out drawers for clothing storage… we have this in our 10m2 cabin, one drawer each, which acts as our holiday wardrobe. All dressing happens down there anyway, as our loft is also only large enough for sleeping. Tiny spaces with 4m+ ceilings feel spacious when you are lounging ❤

    I would love to live on an island with no cars. Normally, that pale green is not a color I like, but it really suits this small stone house, as it gives a soothing 'pop' of color without distracting from the exterior stone walls. My only suggestion, for safety sake, is to install a sliding rail between the bed and the opening to the loft, just in case someone sleeping up in the loft, has to get up in the middle of the night, gets out of bed and forgets they are sleeping high up in a loft. (I knew a woman who broke her elbow falling out of a top bunk because she was camping in a log cabin and slept on the top bunk, just like she used to as a girl, and got up in the middle of the night but forgot she was on the top bunk.) But otherwise, Gemma, I am once again inspired by your architecture design for another small vintage building converted to a tiny home. And besides, l love listening to your gentle voice.
