      ​​​@@mariebussinger6565Right like there's no way a whole ass full "1st world" country doesn't have a place where they have a pool nearby..Like they don't even have to build anything new they can just use their old facilities and if they wanted to they can renovate it like if they actually cared about the Olympics and were smart they would just continue using their old facilities for the pools instead of risking the poor athletes life and and almost makng them contract a diseas or infection..Like 1.5 billion is already considered low for the normal budget of the Olympics which is around 10-20 billion ish and more..but it's still a lot especially for cleaning a river like Siene and I'm damn sure they probably could've managed to clean the river for at least 500-800 million dollars at least but instead no one knows where the money went..and these countries hosting it mostly host when their in a good economic and financial situation and they can afford to build stuff like new stadiums and venues but even still it's still a lot of wasted money..France knows it's not in a good condition right now yet they still had the guts to get volunteer to host the Olympics which is the worst one as of right now... and also part of the executives tht handle the Olympics for not picking L.A instead since around 2012 around 24 countries ish volunteered but now it's only 2 France and L.A and la already hosted it before so they already built venues and stadiums and they're also still using it and making profits instead of most of the stadiums by other countries who are abandoned and is constantly taking mostly around 10 million for the maintanence..since LA already has experience and profits they would've used the old Stadiums and Venues and since it's said already have profits with the budget given to them they may be able to build new ones to accommodate too..This whole Olympics this year was just a sht show and it really proved France's declining state and incompetence and embarrassed themselves..

      The people that put on the events don’t care. The people in the Olympics don’t make a dime. I heard there isn’t enough meat for them because of vegan diets. What a disappointment to them that they can’t even do their best because of poor conditions. Protect the environment for the future and make us all suffer now, that’s a great plan.     Seems the Seine River is as disgusting as the French Olympic opening. That and athletes are leaving the housing area specifically designed for them to go and stay in hotels. They are running out of food and evidently, the entire Olympic Village is a complete disaster.

    The French government spent $1.5 billion on cleaning it, and it still looks filthy.
    Even from an outside perspective, this is embarrassing - if the national plan to clean the landmark water site was failing before the Olympics started, why did they not have a backup venue chosen?

      France is sale. Dirty in French. Sall is the pronunciation. The, water, streets (mostly Paris). Real France is far from Paris which is the NYC of France. Nantes, Lyon, Nancy, Reims, Limoges, Toulouse, Varennes, Dijon, Strasbourg, Nice, Arles are more nice to visit. Paris is dangerous, overpriced, dirty, lots of crime.

      There shouldn't be much of a smell. Most of it is stormwater and the sewage it is heavily diluted. They are most likely using chlorine so the smell is no where near as pungent as you would think.

      Missing persons, dead animals, sewage, trash, most like bodies from hundreds of years ago are in the Seine. Many guillotined bodies were thrown into the Seine. I don't think Paris is all that. It is glamorized in the movie Devil wears Prada (far cry from reality). Most prostitutes and models shave their legs. The only real good French film I like is Le Ballon Rouge filmed in 1956 in a suburb called Ménilmontant which is hilly and steep in many areas.

      It wasn't about funds. They spent $1.5 billion on a waste water storage basin. It was bad decisions. Certainly more could have been done but this is what they settled for and just crossed their fingers.

So it is really impossible to fix unless they change the entire sewer system by separating gray and black water to the flood system. This will take a monumental task since the city is already full of structures.

      Ganges is very clean at its source in the Himalayas. As it leaves the mountains and gets into the plains, it's not longer pristine. In haridwar too Ganges is clean. It's when it gets to Kashi that it gets real dirty.

    The women's triath began (horribly with whole blocks going in, other blocks standing back, waiting, officials cluelessly helpless). We'll see the illnesses arrive in a few days.     The spectical is more important to the Olympics than the actual sport.
    They should have moved the event to a location with good water quality. France has a fantastic south coast but they haven't moved the event because it's more important to have the backdrop of Paris.
    If you don't have the swim section it's a different sport.

      This is the kind of massive project that require a special event to undertake. The point was not to clean the Seine only for the Olympic but instead use the Olympic as the event to galvanize the goal of cleaning the river. They have failed to clean it in time for the Olympics and only time will tell if the investment continue after to revitalize the Seine.
