I grew up listening to this show too. Totally loved it partially cause my granny loved it so much BUT no one understands what Jubilee music is anymore. It is distinct from southern gospel. I call it toe tappin gospel--with a happy piano.
How simple life used to be without all of today's distractions. It was easier to raise children to love the Lord. Listening to Gospel music was a constant pleasure. I miss those days!
Great God Almighty, I cannot express my heart busting watching this again. Bugs Bunny then Jubliee before church!!! To bad today's society doesn't appreciate it.
You couldn't hardly get me up for school...but on Sunday mornings I'd be in front of the TV with the volume cranked up listening to the Jubilee... these videos sure bring back memories.
When I was a little boy, I would get up Sunday morning before my parents, turn on the TV, and watch Gospel Singing Jubilee. I haven't seen it since then. And I am so happy you posted it. Thank you.
Grandpa and I used to watch this while Grandma fixed breakfast for us before Church. Grandpa used to sing the bass part with all of the quartets. Good memories. Thanks for posting. :)
This brings back memories for me as a kid back in the 70s when Daddy always turned on Gospel Jubilee and we listened as we got ready for church on Sunday morning! Best times of my life. Thank you
This brings back such wonderful memories of me when I was a little boy. Daddy always cooked breakfast for me, Mother and himself and we watched/listened to Gospel Jubilee. Bitter sweet memories. Precious memories how they linger.
This is the original Florida Boys that we would go see if they were performing in our area. We would go to their booth and talk with them. I thought they were friends of ours, Dad would always speak often of each one.
Such good memories from my childhood. I'd watch Davey and Goliath and the Godpel Singing Jubilee. Still listen to Good ole Southern Gospel to this day. I,always watched with my grandparents. If these shows are available on DVD please let me know.
I use to hate this show ... I was a kid back then ... No more than 9 or 10 yrs. Old now as a man I sing these same songs with love and humble appreciations... Put it back on the air!
I AM SO HAPPY AND EXCITED TO HAVE FOUND THIS!!! I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR YEARS!!! I remember when I was little back in the early 1970s we used to have this on the TV while we were getting ready for church on Sunday mornings! Such a happy time in my life with Mommy and Daddy and my siblings! Thank you for posting this!!!
5 or six years old...watching this on early Sunday mornings on a t.v. I had to "pull the knob" to turn on. I have always remembered that scene when The Florida Boys step up on the stage singing "Jubilee....Jubilee....you're invited to this happy jubilee..." I didn't watch the whole show back then....didn't care to. But...that opening has resonated with me for decades. It gave me...and still gives me...that good feeling of "wholesomeness." So very glad this program was a part of so many lives.
YOU AND ME BOTH. Only, I thought they were singing, "You're invited to this country, jubilee." It may just have been a mondegreen, but I know they would have approved of what I thought they were saying -- a sort of pious prayer for the nation.
Well I remember this show we used to watch it when we got home from grannies. She had fried chicken, cabbage, cornbread, black eyed peas and potatoes. We used to go spit watermelon seeds in the backyard and my grandpa would laugh and slap his knee. He used to sing go tell it on the mountain.
I go back to the days of the Blue Ridge, Prophets, and others in the 60's. It was so cool to see the people I knew personally on national T.V. As a kid I once got to ride on the Blue Ridge Quartet's bus. My teenage daughter and I were just looking at all the records I have and have decided it's time to set up the turntable and hook it into the stereo system. This brings back so many memories. Thank you.
Every Sunday & was so disappointed when the hour was up. I loved listening to those beautiful voices harmonizing as they praised Our Lord & savior Jesus!!!!
The Happy Goodman's touch from GOD Himself as HIS gift to them in music, song and voice is so clear and inspiring here in this song.....For all good and perfect gifts come from HIS Hand GOD Himself,,,yours in CHRIST, Downtown Rickey Brown, Jackson, Tennessee
I have been watching & listening to the Florida Boys as long as I can remember. They have always presented great gospel music. I am 79 & I still enjoy good country gospel music & listen to every chance I have. Please reply
Brings back some good memories. Whereas in most markets it aired on Sunday morning, the "Jubilee" actually aired on Sunday afternoons at 5 on KTVT (Ch 11) in Dallas back in the early '70s.
Oh thank you for posting this program. Mom, Dad and i would sit and watch this program every sunday. that is were i became the biggest fan of the Goodman.
I can echo Nalora down below. Some of my fondest memories of my Mom include some of the same. It brings back, really, a flood of good feelings to me when I heard that Theme Song and I really enjoyed the videos. What a seemingly nice, genuine person Mr. Beasley seems to be. He should know how many lives he touched by bringing this music into our homes for all those years. I can't thank him enough.
I loved listening to the Gospel Singing Jubilee , I would rush as fast as I could milking the cows so I could get back to the house to watch the show. If I had too many cows I would miss some of the show and they had to be milked by hand. All this before church and after breakfast.
Thanks for posting this. I was in high school when my brother found this program on our old black and white tv. I had listened to the Blackwoods and Statesmen and loved their music. It was a thrill to actually see JD, London and all the rest singing as a choir! Nearly missed church that day.
Loved it and waited for it every Sunday morning.... I listened while getting the children & myself ready for Sunday School or lying on couch or recliner after a surgery; the songs would always help lift me up and help me make it through another trial
I always loved the piano player. He wore crazy patterned socks and liked to hike up his pants to show them while he played. He was a real cut up. Especially at gospel sings.
I am not sure when I was first introduced to this music. But my hubbie has it playing on the computer quite often. My grandparents were Southerners, and I remember listening to music there. I suspect that is where I first heard it.
Thank you so much for posting these. I remember sitting in my Sunday Best clothes waiting on the rest of my family to go to Church while the Gospel Singing Jubilee was on the televsions. (and afterwards, Davey and Goliath) Thanks very much.
This is one of the early groups when Jerry Trammel had just taken over as tenor replacing Coy Cook. The rest of the group is Les Beasley, lead; Glen Alred, baritone; Billy Todd, bass; and Derrell Stewart on piano.
I was in my sixties before I understood what Jubilee means. I always wondered what Jubilee means. I didn't want to look or sound dumb by asking anyone what it means. It took listening to Jonathan Cahn for me to know what Jubilee means.
I grew up listening to this on Sunday mornings while getting ready for church. :) I just wish that they would just show the old shows without commentary. Bill and Gloria can be a little ... dull. I'd rather just watch the whole show just like it came on the air. :) I doubt my opinion matters, but it's just true. LOL
Jim, was the "Jubilee" show filmed at the same location every week? I remember it in the 60's as a teenager. We watched it every Sunday. I believe it came on at 8am in our location.
The Happy Goodman gal Vestal rocked that mile high head of wig . :) I remember this show as a kid in Chicago in the late 60s. Yep, this was on one of our 6 channels in Chicago in the mid to late 60s that had this on on Sundays, LOL.
This is a great video. Can someone tell me name of the bass singer for the Florida boys during this period & is he still living? We used to watch the Jubilee every Sunday morning at 08:30 in our time zone.
Help! What is the name of another Sunday Moring show of the 60's that had a castle, queen and waltz music playing and it came on or a segment. I was no more than 4 or 6 but I vaguely remember.
I'm a Black woman and we use to listen to this every Sunday morning, please bring this back.
I grew up listening to this show too. Totally loved it partially cause my granny loved it so much BUT no one understands what Jubilee music is anymore. It is distinct from southern gospel. I call it toe tappin gospel--with a happy piano.
Every Sunday morning no cable so that was on
I was just saying the same thing!
How simple life used to be without all of today's distractions. It was easier to raise children to love the Lord. Listening to Gospel music was a constant pleasure. I miss those days!
I remember this would come on after the cartoons on Sunday morning. All these decades later I still remember the theme song.

I use to watch this when I was a little girl, about 5 maybe I’m now 56... good memories.. JUBILEE
Brings back childhood memories. Every Sunday morning before church.
Daddy always had the TV on these shows before we went to church.
Grandpa and I used to watch this while Grandma fixed breakfast for us before Church. Grandpa used to sing the bass part with all of the quartets. Good memories. Thanks for posting. :)

I remember them in the early and mid 1960s😊
I remember this as a boy. Watched this Sunday mornings for years. Thanks for keeping this sound alive.
AWESOME! This show used to air Sunday mornings in Chicago. My grandmother ALWAYS had this on!
This brings back memories for me as a kid back in the 70s when Daddy always turned on Gospel Jubilee and we listened as we got ready for church on Sunday morning! Best times of my life. Thank you
I could've written word for word exactly what you wrote above. Miss these times and The Gospel Singing Jubilee!
Same here. I am so glad I found this on RUclips. It is a 1970s childhood memory of mine. This is the first time I have seen it since then.
This brings back such wonderful memories of me when I was a little boy. Daddy always cooked breakfast for me, Mother and himself and we watched/listened to Gospel Jubilee. Bitter sweet memories. Precious memories how they linger.
No problem.... !! I love these old timey quartets... I was raised on them too
We dont see passion in gospel music like this anymore.
This is the original Florida Boys that we would go see if they were performing in our area. We would go to their booth and talk with them. I thought they were friends of ours, Dad would always speak often of each one.
I spent many Sunday mornings listening to the gospel quartets while waiting for Sunday School.
Such good memories from my childhood. I'd watch Davey and Goliath and the Godpel Singing Jubilee. Still listen to Good ole Southern Gospel to this day. I,always watched with my grandparents. If these shows are available on DVD please let me know.
I Loved Gospel Jubilee on Sunday mornings.
Yes! I remember this show from my early childhood! It is so cool to see this again.

I was about the same age as you. When it came on I had to listen to the theme song.
Very beautiful presentation. I love those uplifting southern gospel songs. Thank you, Bill Gaither for keeping these songs alive. Praise the Lord.
Amen!
Being of the black race I use to watch this all the time
Same with my family we'd watch them just before going to Sunday School!
Watching this again, and again loving it!
I go back to the days of the Blue Ridge, Prophets, and others in the 60's. It was so cool to see the people I knew personally on national T.V. Brings back some good memories. Whereas in most markets it aired on Sunday morning, the "Jubilee" actually aired on Sunday afternoons at 5 on KTVT (Ch 11) in Dallas back in the early '70s.
It was on in Orlando on WESH-TV Channel 2 on Sunday Morning right after the Catholic Television Mass.

For me it was "singing time in Dixie" before church. And my feet were off the ground all day.
Loved Gospel Jubilee
Loved it and waited for it every Sunday morning.... I listened while getting the children & myself ready for Sunday School or lying on couch or recliner after a surgery; the songs would always help lift me up and help me make it through another trial
I always loved the piano player. He wore crazy patterned socks and liked to hike up his pants to show them while he played. He was a real cut up. Especially at gospel sings.
I was living in Norman, Oklahoma and Gospel Singing Jubilee was on WKY-TV channel 4 (KFOR-TV) I would watch this while getting ready for church
Russell Rogers every Sunday!
Present, bible brought, bible read daily, lesson studied, giving, worship attendance...another ritual
So much musical talent in these artists. I am sure that they do not get enough credit for their amazing skill & talent.
I am not sure when I was first introduced to this music. But my hubbie has it playing on the computer quite often. My grandparents were Southerners, and I remember listening to music there. I suspect that is where I first heard it.
I remember watching this on Sunday morning after that was davey & Goliath
I remember this show when I was a little kid.
Thank you so much for posting these. I remember sitting in my Sunday Best clothes waiting on the rest of my family to go to Church while the Gospel Singing Jubilee was on the televsions. (and afterwards, Davey and Goliath) Thanks very much.

How did Bill know about my Granny's house on Sunday morning in NC when I was a kid?
Love this stuff...
@buryinman1
The tenor singer in this group is Tommy Atwood, not Jerry Trammel. I know because he is my father :-)
@wlittle Me too! My dad used to watch this every Sunday morning while the rest of us were getting ready for church.
Thanks for posting this Mr. Jim! It brings back such wonderful memories of Sunday mornings when I was little.
We watched this when I was a young boy.
well we got down to this after visiting Grandma....hooting and a hollering and jumping around the living room like a bunch of injuns
This is one of the early groups when Jerry Trammel had just taken over as tenor replacing Coy Cook. The rest of the group is Les Beasley, lead; Glen Alred, baritone; Billy Todd, bass; and Derrell Stewart on piano.
The first song is go tell it on the mountain and the second when morning sweeps the eastern sky
Nice folk gospel group.
praise the lord

I love this, it brings back many memories, but doesn't that bass singer for The Florida Boys look like Ernie Douglas on My Three Sons !!!
Jim, was the "Jubilee" show filmed at the same location every week? I remember it in the 60's as a teenager. We watched it every Sunday. I believe it came on at 8am in our location.
the fact that Ken Turner comes to my church every once and a while to sing with Valor III
There is only one word to descibe the Florida Boys in my book CLASS.
always thought Vestel's hair was halfway to heaven. she made the beehive popular.
God Bless
Kenny Hinson and all the Hinson Family!
Bring back
Those hairdos defied gravity!
Can someone tell me name of the bass singer for the
Florida boys during this period & is he still living? We used to watch the Jubilee

Billy Todd and he is no longer living
Help! What is the name of another Sunday Moring show of the 60's that had a castle, queen and waltz music playing and it came on or a segment. I was no more than 4 or 6 but I vaguely remember.
Can anyone link me something for the rythem and chords to this version for piano because I've never heard this one and I love it
who sang the Jubilee song as the groups were introduced? I like that one.
The Florida boys started the song then the rest of the singers joined in as needed
