Hearing those bells brought back many memories for me. My mother and father lived in Abbey Close in the 1980s before he retired and moved to a small village near Sherborne, in fact their house was in the aerial shot at the beginning right next to the rectory, For many years my mother was a member of the flower group that used to create the flower arrangements in the Abbey and many of the local churches.
My dad used to walk his terrier and one day was talking to one of the archaeologists when they did a dig on the green discovering several human skeletons. Then dad noticed the dog was chewing an old bone, Yes, a human bone!

Wow, your camera captured these bells brilliantly. That tenor has a beautiful boom to it. Lovely video!

Nicely done! This was one of my regular local towers from March - November (and I've only been ringing since February) and they aren't easy, especially for a lightweight beginner. Good choice having two people raising and lowering the 5th (16cwt), as it's an absolute bugger to raise by your own (it always goes up wrong).
(the 4th's rope decided to give me a farewell message on my left arm on my last night there).

Excellent ringing. The raise is something else - well done!

Fab video, and beautiful striking, that's definitely a different way of doing call changes we don't do them like that in our tower.

its a method peculiar to the west country. the closer you get to cornwall it seems method ringing becomes rarer and rarer and ringing up in peal becomes more common.

Thank you for uploading this clip. Any chance of the whole of the first Queens Peal? A joy to listen to.
This video almost answers a long standing question of "How many ringers should you have to raise Sheborne Abbey bells properly?" Somewhere between 18 and 20 by the look of it. 🤣

Lovely ringing but not my favourite sounding heavy 8.
I really love Westbury such a classic prewar Taylor 8
Always love the way Devon ringers raise and lower in peal.

There a lovely tone but Worcester Cathedral it would have been gorgeous if these were the same back 8 bells of Worcester.
