They remind a little bit of when as a child I used to scrape a stick along some unsuspecting railings..........
I've only rung at Moseley once and that was years ago at a st martins guild open day
When the new sixteen at the bullring were ringing.
Being rung together they sounded very unusual, but on their own they sounded alright
The fourth of the old ring sounds very good compared to the rest!
When I rang there I left covered in fragments of rust. I can't say it was a pleasant experience.
great video! well done
Why does it constantly sound like there is a fire alarm going off in the background when you are in the belfry?
Jason Burnet yes it does
A trick: you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Austin Blake definitely, I have been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :)
How did it go from a fire alarm to movies on a piracy website! 😂

the bells now are a ring of 10
The word hells bell springs to mind.
What ever possessed them to cast bells in steel.
Not exactly a decent Taylor peal.
8:43 - Does the bell look loose on the headstock to you. It looked like the whole bell wobbled!
Ollie Watson Not impossible. These were rather unsafe xD
Ollie Watson yes it is
Yes Ollie I think it is these were pretty old and dangerous so I could believe that tbh
And lo and behold, later on the tenor fell!!

What happened to these bells after they were replaced?
They’re outside the church somekind of a museum outside. On this video year, Later on abit of couple years at Moseley church, the tenor fell off the headstock. Which was very sad😢. And it’s sad to see those steel bells on head stocks I think
do i hear a tenor in this ?
Olivia Alwen yes this is before the tenor collapsed
awesome 133 it collapsed?
@@RingerJamie it fell off its headstock
@@josephhill12790 Im pretty sure it was that it fell from the gudgeons and not from the headstock
@@RingerJamie what happened is the gudgeon snapped and the tenor fell and it was sitting horizontal in the belfry
Is that Mike Chester ringing?
Yes - t'is me in me 'andsome days! I'd forgotten about this. I do remember ringing on them just after they were done up. Some of the old bell bolts had lost most of their diameter to rust.
You show me a video of the tenor
Sì
They should have kept those bells greased or painted every year and they would have not rusted so badly. A good lubricant oil all over the bells wiped periodically would have helped. The gravelly sound is coming from the rust also.
To me the tenor very booming and old. Too bad it’s been scrapped. I think.
i think its actually sitting in someones garden among with some others, or so i heard hehe

They're made of bronze
steel
The tenor sounded funny
Bochumer would have been a better choice
bochumer hadn't started casting quality bells in 1860 !
They really don't sound musical at all.
