Units from Martin County Fire Rescue, Stuart Fire Rescue, St. Lucie County Fire District, Florida Forestry Service, and Martin County Sheriff Office, operating at a brush fire near the 3100 block of SW Buena Vista Drive in Palm City.
100+ acres burned. Homes were evacuated as a precaution. there were no reports of damage to any homes. at 5:55 you can see how quickly the fire started spreading. At 6:27 I'm now on the other side of the road as the fire rapidly advanced to the roadside.
Ariel water drops were conducted by the Martin County Sheriff Office and Florida Forestry Service.
Notice at 3:10 there was no traffic on the shoulder. I had a pretty early arrival to the fire. At 9:40 you can see bystanders parked all down the shoulder on both sides. This fire was off of a pretty busy road so it brought quite the attention to drivers.
This was the first brush fire I had ever seen and it was fascinating to see how quick the fire can spread, as well as the tactics used by all agencies.

An hour flight for the Forest Service Huey to get there from Ft Myers Must have been an extended operation.

Great footage! Lots of interesting rigs that you don’t get to see in California. Great catch of the helicopter drops as well.

Those are some goofy looking brush rigs. Then again, I am on the west coast. So I'm used to actual specialized brush engines, and brush patrol rigs.

I was just going to say the west coast has some of the best wildland engines out there, but to each there own

West Coast brush units wouldn’t last an hour in Florida.

Great video. Pretty disappointed that these jurisdictions do not have their copters set up like LA with the fixed belly tanks.

I’m not sure if Florida Forestry Service has helicopters with fixed belly tanks. The majority I’ve seen operate with the baby bucket. Then again that has just been here in south Florida. Maybe it’s in other parts of the state. As for the Sheriff helicopter that’s used for normal Law enforcement aviation operations. Pretty neat that they have a bucket and help assist in brush fires.

Florida Forest Service does have some fixed belly tanks. Many of the helicopters are dual purpose for prescribed fire. Helicopters with Bambi buckets are outfitted to carry aerial ignition devices(ping pong machine). Many bucket carrying helicopters are local sheriffs departments and National Guard depending on where in the state.

Whole different world down from here and Commiefonia. Flat land, thick woods, swamps and on foot don't work and air support is few and far between.

All that useless equipment. Those white Ford's are being utilized for what reason?. They seem to be blocking the road instead of helping.
