Marvelous that the artistic director, Jerry Junken, and the ensemble are performing as one. And I am certain that the joy and emotion of playing such remarkable music is shared by all wind instrument players as well as Mr Junken.
I'm wondering who's arrangement or edition they used. I don't recall seeing that harp glissando in Sousa's Encore Books (where he had penned many harp parts in manuscript for his own use...but never published...until recently.)
@@mikemchornprof6758 . . . . .that's funny, I was about to type that very statement. He's not even conducting, nor does he have a score on the stand. Not that any conductor really needs one while conducting a band of this caliber.
My band played this last semester! It was such a fun piece!
(but I gotta say this ensemble played quite a bit better haha)
Sad to see all those empty chairs in the hall for such a wonderful performance.
Great performance. Every seat should have been filled. The lucky ones were present.
The sound quality of a performance is often better several rows back. They may have been left empty intentionally.
Listen for the harp glissando at 2:38. Wonderfully scored.

Gah! Who cut off the beginning with that stupid fade in? That's the cool opening hit!

I want to say Fennell has them in his arrangement but I’m not positive I don’t have the score on me.
The conductor is interesting to watch’
It's a lot about him.
