On of my favorite playthroughs was a Sister Friede build, with frost mist on one grave scythe, the froststomp on the other grave scythe and some black flame spells to complete the reference to Friede. That was really fun.
For my first playthrough I did Grave Scythe imbued with Frost and Winged Scythe along with godslayer spells. I did this before even playing ds3 and was happily surprised when I ran into Friede lol
I really appreciate that for some of the bosses you did multiple ashes of war, or even no ashes of war to really show the weapons off. I remember some people had issues with the daggers only run cuz they felt it was more "glintblade phalanx only". But this was great!

Yeah I used Winged Scythe until Leyndell and a bit further as well, however I had a dps problem because I spread my stats too far and was too hesitant to use my smithing/somber stones
Pretty similar to my first run when I switched from the halo scythe which I had my entire run to the mamas wyrm scalesword when every boss was pretty much immune to holy damage
42:52 An all ash of war run would be super fun to watch. It'd also maybe be cool to try out single ashes of war on multiple weapon types just to see how an ash varies from weapon to weapon. Putting spinning weapon blew me away and made me feel dumb for never trying that. A bit off-topic, but imagine a mod where you could put spinning weapon on fist/claw weapons, but instead of the weapons spinning, your character floats like 3 inches off the ground and spins lol

the double jumping attack auto getting the sweetspot, and the spinning weapon interaction are so great. godkiller flame spinn is one of my fav looks. Try it with the vulgar militia saw as well
There is a way to increase damage on spinning strikes - unlock from the enemy and spin your character the same direction that the weapon spins and you increase the hits by almost 3x

You doing twinblades made me switch my main playstyle in my side game in seamless coop. I've been studying the video too and learning to dynamically change ashes of war between bosses for more effectiveness and man its been a blast. I melt the bosses. I've been using your moonblade video to also help my friend optimize his build. I have the distinct impression that the sacred order buff has been patched though since it doesn't seem to increase his damage on the moonblade after switching weapons.
I've not seen the way you dodge water foul in other guides. I got it from watching over and over in slow motion but I'd also watch a guide from you. Also didn't know you can cancel her extremely fast move. Thank God I saw you do that.

Yeah with the build variety in this game, the buffs that you can apply, the equip-able ashes of war, and how almost every weapon class has at least one BS representative, yeah almost everything can be broken.

@@skult227 I just compare the player character to other Souls games. I replayed Bloodborne recently and yeah, most of what you can do in Elden Ring is actually broken. Like, a pretty high percentage of builds can invalidate large portions of this game.
I really like all of the dragon fights in ER. they follow the conventional progression in games. smarag has another fire attack compared to agheel, ekzykes has rot mist on top of smarags moves, adula has a special sword attack, and borealis is a culmination of all the dragons youve fought. its a little jank if borealis is flying on the cliffs but other than that fantastic fight
Idk if you'll see this Gino but you single handedly sparked my passion to play Elden Ring again. Never did beat the game fully, but I'm determined to git gud and do it now.
Its my GOAT game, there are some frustrating bosses sometimes, but be flexible, try different weapons, and strategies, and try to learn as you fight each boss each time you die. What moves work, what was too slow or too fast? Its very fun game.

Sword dance IS the melee ash for scythes. Sacred blade or ring of light are only ranged ones (other than good ol lightning bolt). Scythes need more ranged ashes in dlc.

They are my fav. For my first playthru I ran a dual grave scythe build and it cooked. Then the dlc added the obsidian lamina and that’s my favorite in all souls games

Since watching your videos, I have gotten better, I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact you are super good and easy to watch. I did this a while back, going through the game a few times using only one type of weapon. Sythes were the last ones I did and it was the most fun I had.
my NG+ build was 99 arcane dragon communion with occult grave scythe. its nothing THIS HOT but at the time i felt like i was cooking so hard. the drip and aesthetic was so badass
had a lot of fun dual wielding the Large Axes that give rot on hit. (65) Especially since you can add an ash of war, Rot, Cold, Bleed. Watching the mimic tear go to town on bosses was pretty funny.
my first ever playthrough of elden ring was almost entirely scythe only, since i refused to level vigor for no real reason, and so i frequently used the halo scythe ability to bully enemies from far away. it was great. glad other people are slowly starting to use them.
Fast crouch attack, good reach, good damage, fun power stance moveset with really good jump attack, bleed, good scaling with different stats, decent ashes variety, goes through shields Reapers are just fun man

Once i was fighting the spirit godskins, I killed both and then the snail appeared and I was like "oh little bros friends are gone, whatchu gonna do?" And then the snail jumped at me with a grab attack and oneshoted me
FIIIINALY someone talking about the scythes, people underestimate that weapon so much, im on NG+6 and im still destroying all the bosses, you can have 3 different debuffs if you put poison on one, frost on the other and they have bleed by default
Because pretty much every other bleed normal weapon can do that? They nerfed the attack speed of the reapers awhile back and the great star/omen killer axes have better poise(upside is reapers dont bounce off greatshields or the barricade ash)
When I tried a region-locked Faith build, and eventually met its rather high requirements, I was pleasantly surprised by the Winged Scythe and its unique skill.
37:42 the reason "that bleed came so late" is because of bloodflame blade. All blood flame effects are a different bucket of status than bleed affinity attacks. Bloodflame applies a de buff that applies 40 bleed build up over 2 seconds it stacks with every hit. So bleed proccs will come in delayed after the tics. Unlike straight bleed affinity on weapons that's immediately applied when struck
With so much symbolism to scorpions in items and crucible spells I hope we get a scorpion fist weapon that alter the fighting style to the martial skill in dlc but I doubt that would happen
While everyone was running SONAF and rivers of blood on release, I was melting bosses with the dual scythe jump attack build. The status and damage output is just nutty.
The Regular Scythe heavy attack is perfect for hitting dragons. As it's 2 consecutive overhead downwards angled strikes. This makes it perfect for hitting things above you.
I really wish that for the Halo Scythe, either the heavy or quick attack would be replaced with that buff that the Cleanrot Knights cast when they use it. It’d be so damn cool
I nvr realized how much if a flex it was so be able to spawn in the weapons instead of needing to farm them until i went to get the halo scythe myself omfg did it take a while
1:17:51 Sacred Order only applies the 100% anti-undead damage bonus to the weapon, for everything else it's only a 10% damage buff (yes it buffs your spells too while you are holding it)
I discovered this from a friend on my first playthrough - if you're going for a dex/faith build you need to farm the halo scythe. Its damage per hit isn't much to talk about, but the weapon art hits like a freight train on steroids when you buff the damage of it. It's one of my favorite weapons to use, albeit one of my least favorite to farm for
GinoMachino: Obliterates Radahn in 15 seconds Also GinoMachino: That was a boss, by the way... But I forgot to do the Milicent quest for even more damage... Also GinoMachino: Blasts Malenia 2 times into Oblivion, and then... "It's good... I mean..." Then he blast Malenia 2 times again into Oblivion... Just for good measure, you know... Also GinoMachino: Dude I didn't even use the Thorny Cracked Tear - I missed out damage!
This is why Grave Scythe has been one of my favorite weapons for awhile now. The normal moveset is slower than I'd like but ashes like Spinning Weapon or Stormcaller make up for that.

I had a very similar experience to you. I ended up using the winged and halo scythe most of the game, the dual wield jump attack was so good.

reapers are my go to build for SL1, the jumping L1 is just SO good.
the frenzy grab incantation is fun to spam on gideon. he can't really escape chain casts

With so much symbolism to scorpions in items and crucible spells I hope we get a scorpion fist weapon that alter the fighting style to the martial skill in dlc but I doubt that would happen

I made a bloodborne build when i was PVPing. The scythes are dope
While everyone was running SONAF and rivers of blood on release, I was melting bosses with the dual scythe jump attack build. The status and damage output is just nutty.

The Regular Scythe heavy attack is perfect for hitting dragons. As it's 2 consecutive overhead downwards angled strikes. This makes it perfect for hitting things above you.
I really wish that for the Halo Scythe, either the heavy or quick attack would be replaced with that buff that the Cleanrot Knights cast when they use it. It’d be so damn cool
I nvr realized how much if a flex it was so be able to spawn in the weapons instead of needing to farm them until i went to get the halo scythe myself omfg did it take a while

1:17:51 Sacred Order only applies the 100% anti-undead damage bonus to the weapon, for everything else it's only a 10% damage buff (yes it buffs your spells too while you are holding it)
I discovered this from a friend on my first playthrough - if you're going for a dex/faith build you need to farm the halo scythe. Its damage per hit isn't much to talk about, but the weapon art hits like a freight train on steroids when you buff the damage of it. It's one of my favorite weapons to use, albeit one of my least favorite to farm for

This is why Grave Scythe has been one of my favorite weapons for awhile now. The normal moveset is slower than I'd like but ashes like Spinning Weapon or Stormcaller make up for that.
the thing is that halberds are just better in every way except the shield pierce, they take all the AOWs reapers do AND more
