Not sure what I want to say, this was so great. I feel like this whole parenting thing that has come about because of Abbie for the Maas' shows everyone how real families should look. I had to say goodbye to my father once or more every year growing up, he traveled the world, worked for the UN and although I got to travel the world with my father and get that experience, my mother was and is narcissistic, she neglected myself and my siblings terribly and constantly, and I don't think he could handle that, so he didn't, he just left. We can't just leave our families because they're may be problems and if we do need to leave our families, the parents if good parents should live close. When Asa mentions that Abbie takes advantage of mom, well that happens in every family with boys and girls, autism or not and mom needs that support. I'm not sure I've ever seen or met a man who loved his little girl and his whole family so much, it makes me cry. Families have gotten away from being actual real families in recent years and we need this so desperately. I have done it with my kids alone, as my husband decided to leave long ago, although I am not narcissistic myself. Some men don't know what they have or don't care. But Asa's and his whole family's example is one to follow. They carry a big load, it takes a village to raise a child and interestingly that need for a village doesn't stop when we grow up. We all need to learn from such deep and utter love. Well done doesn't say enough. Asa will give Abbie the greatest life she could ever wish for, he already is.

Public schools are big on privacy laws. I agree with Asa I want all the paras the know my child. I'm also a para at a different school but I do have to fill in with several different children and I don't know what to beware of, it's stressful. Great job Cameron! You asked great questions. Thank you for spreading awareness and caring for our children. New subscriber!

I actually had a school try to force me to work with other kids in a self-contained classroom when I was hired to teach sign language to one nonverbal child. I wasn't trained on the other's in the classroom and the funding was for me to work with that one child only. They were trying to work around the system to get another "aide" in there. If I had done that, I wouldn't have been able to do the job I did with the one child. Her sign vocabulary doubled and she was able to express so much more than before.

Natural consequence not punishment seems like good plan.
I like Abbys parents’ views here. Spill it, pick it up with guidance. Blow a gasket, not the best day to go somewhere, maybe tomorrow when having a better day. Ive seen also in their videos, parents choosing to not “set her up” for rough time by adjusting plans in anticipation that its just not the best day for x activity.
Not really punishment but more like, hey, if you get xyz done, or finish you therapy, you can ride the cart.
Even two neurotypical siblings wont respond the same way to every discipline technique, but all kids can learn some adult skills by experiencing natural consequences. Spill. No harm, no foul. Here are paper towels. Lets pick it up.
