Most of the time, I personally CANNOT keep up with the changes recommended, and must watch the video (backing up a-lot to keep up!) many many many times to get all the information. So, what I’d like to suggest is: SLOW DOWN!!!! Many here, myself included may be physically handicapped and we cannot change from one place to another as fast as you want us to. Keep the raw setting on. It only shoots at 48MP if you choose to shoot in raw. With raw mode enabled you still have to manually enable raw mode every time the camera app is closed and reopened. By turning off raw mode in settings all you're doing is removing that option from the camera app.
Also, it's 2023, having the max compatibility setting selected is just taking up more space with lower quality but larger jpeg files. Almost everything can read Apple's HEIC format at this point. It would be worth it to shoot in HEIC and convert to jpeg in the rare case it's needed.
Just my two cents as someone who uses his iPhone as camera frequently.

Great video as always when it comes to turning off things that aren't all that necessary, however I think there's something that perhaps you might need to investigate, as I have found with my former 12Max that doesn't seem to work the way that you think. Item #13 Block Sender Options. I have noticed over the last year or two an abundance of junk mail showing up in one of my accounts "junk" folders. So of course I took your advice in a previous video and enabled that setting to move the blocked mail to the trash, but I have to tell you I am constantly finding junk mail form the exact same blocked senders showing up in said junk folder and NOT my trash. Any chance you can start investigating whether this is broken still. I had searched online and several people on Apples forum had stated that they also have never seen it work on their iPhone, and I believe one individual stated that it was an exclusive feature for iMacs, and NOT meant for the iPhone's [even though it is within the settings screen].

Also just bought an iPhone 14, first one was a lemon, but replaced and now navigating through all the different features (last had an SE 2nd generation so very different). One thing I would love to know how to get rid of is Focus, specifically Do Not Disturb that likes to turn on by itself, I got no calls for days because this app changed my schedule to daytime instead of nighttime, any suggestions??? Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. Cheers

    A number of BAD suggestions:
    1. No need to turn off Apple ProRaw in settings, you can do this from the Camera UI on the top right corner. Leaving this setting ON allow you to take 48 RAW image when you need to, without going inside the main settings menu. In addition, apple ProRAW gives you excellent picture quality, when AUTO mode in jpeg is just awful.
    2. On iOS 16.4 if you turn Increased Contrast ON, the SUN icons in Apple Weather app will turn to white color (instead of yellow). It's a new future from Apple in 16.4 called "bug". As usual, they fix old issues and bring new.
    3. It you turn OFF Significant location, then Optimised Battery charging WILL NOT work.
    4. If you turn OFF so many futures in the System Location menu you will make you smartphone behave like a stupid phone. Example, turning off location services for compas and fitness calibration will make your phone behave bad when using car navigation apps and bad on health related futures. And so on.
In summary, this is SMART Phone. Why you suggesting to turn off so many usefull futures? It won't give you much battery life, but you will lose a lot of smart futures. Then just buy old Nokia and you will get 1 week of battery life.

Always good to have options at the touch of a button…..think about the whole “SMART“ phone title. 🤔

I would be interested in a similar "turn off settings" video for when you travel overseas. I have an iPhone 11se and Verizon service.

Hello David & David, wonderful video. Thanks.
Noticed that TikTok is not even listed on my apps. I have an iPhone 12, through AT&T. How come Apple company is allowing this app through their units? I don’t have to worry, but some (if not all of them) social media are transmitting this app.
Example: RUclips. Is it possible to have this indirect app affecting my iPhone unit? Thanks

Great video! I'm glad you made a video on what Location services need to be disabled… I've always thought that's something that drains a lot of battery; though, disabling “System Customization” disables automatic Night Shift and Dark Mode.

could you please explain the DNS server thing, it's new for me. I did look it up, and it does say it's not 100% secure and some internet service provider may not be compatible with it. So I wonder how it is compared to the default server my wifi came with, on security, data collection and etc. I get that yall are trying to help, but I'm reluctant to do something if I don't understand how it works and what it might do, aside from the purpose you already mentioned. Thank you.

This and the private relay tells me they are more worried about clicks/views and whatever they can about speed. I wouldn't do it, not from a speed or privacy stand point, but rather it's not going to be noticeable to 99% of people.
To be clear, cloudflare isn't inheritly dangerous, just that you are modifying a setting to a third party.

I have been watching for several years. One of your tracking settings may have stopped apple workouts cycling from recording speed and distance. I resolved by going back to factory. I followed all suggestions here and will try my cycling app again when I return from vacation. Thanks. Chris
