So what happened to police being held to a higher standard? I dont find it acceptable this happened at all or was even possible. How could this order be sent out and get mixed up in such a fashion. Every time I heard someone breaking a law hearing them say "I don't know" was never a legal excuse. People were harmed from this persons lack of leadership and ability to fulfill their position. Thus they need to be let go for failing their state and country in the most desperate of times.

Even a prisoner can have their "human rights" violated. In certain cases, being imprisoned is violating their human rights when that human actually did not commit the act that forfeited their rights but were convicted.

It temporarily removes civilian authority and rights during times of war, natural disaster or civil disorder. A marshall or marshal can participate in martial law, but is NOT martial law. If you don't believe me look it up. I did just to educate myself in case you were right.
Times like these are exactly when responsible gun owners need their firearms the most. Natural disasters bring out the worst in some people, and self-defense shouldn't be off the table when law enforcement is stretched thin.

I live in south Carolina and just went though the hurricane. We were without power for 3 days. By the end of day 3, most of the stores were still closed and we had looters out stealing gas and prowling the neighborhoods as soon as it got dark. The police were busy if you saw them at all. The jail was in overflow and looters were being ticketed because there was no room in the jail. I kept my gun with me at all times. Thankfully nothing bad happened. My prayers go out to NC and all the places hit worse than us. Hang in there and stay strong. Hopefully more help will arrive soon.

In Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria, it was no mans land. After that I made the decision to get my license and carry proper protection. Since that moment I'm a strong believer in the 2nd Amendment. After a natural disaster is critical to have the protection, there will be no police or safety system in place.

And I believe in being prepped up that would alleviate the problem instead of running to the gun store during a catastrophe. As far as what the city of Okeechobee did was totally wrong! 870.044 is the State of Florida law. If anything has to be rescinded or rewritten, it has to come from Tallahassee. Our Governor needs to make this a priority. Stat! The 2A specifically uses the words "shall not." This is important because in legal jargon the words "shall not" means no exceptions can be made. If exceptions were intended to be made then the words "may not" would have been used but "shall not" is absolute. It means the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed under any circumstances. Therefore, any law that restricts or prohibits any legal US citizen from owning or carrying any firearm for any reason anywhere on US soil is technically unconstitutional and as such is null and void. Unenforceable. Or, at least its supposed to be. We've allowed exceptions so the government will continue to create exceptions. We get what we allow people.
