    Great list! Jamboree, Animal Well, Echoes of Wisdom, and Astrobot would all fall on my list as well. Sometimes all you need to be best in class is to be remarkably solid, polished, and full of joy and fun. It may be difficult for people to understand why Astrobot won GOTY, but that will likely change the moment they get it in their hands.

    Your list is great, a lot of games for me to put on my wishlist! I never really play new releases as I'm always playing older games, but Balatro changed that for me. It hooked me in as it is a simple to understand deckbuilder roguelike, but the builds you can create are insane it makes for an addicting gameplay loop. Can't wait to see what releases next year on the Switch 2!

    Wholesome as always. We love you, no matter the schedule :)
    I could've played TTYD but I was also sure that playthrough would absolutely go down in overhype burnout. There also really wouldn't be anything new for me aside from the gameplay because I've seen the game played to death already (it's my favourite YTer's most played game, even though I'm not there for that game). I always say I prefer the modern Paper Mario games to TTYD and 64 but if anyone would ever reply to that by asking whether I've even played TTYD, this would be the only thing I could answer with. It's just complicated.
    Anyway, (some of) my gaming highlights of the year:
    - Spyro Reignited Trilogy
    I know this game is years old at this point, and I'd even already played it on Switch. But I really didn't like it _that_ much there, and I'd been teasing myself of one day playing it again on PC. Man, I'm so glad I did! I really enjoyed basically all of it this time, quite the contrast to back when, where I for some reason specifically only really liked the first game of the trilogy. But yea, dragon hit much better this time, very cool.
    - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    My second Zelda game, having played ALBW last december, not knowing it was that game's 10th anniversary. There were some points at which I felt like I wasn't immersed to the point I thought I could be, and also points where I got kinda frustrated with the game both in the moment and as a whole. But in the end, they even out to nothing, 'cause this game is actually awesome. In hindsight I definitely think it was a good choice of entry point to dive into 3D Zelda.
    - Celeste Strawberry Jam
    I know this is technically a mod and not a game but it's an experience all on its own, so shush. I played Celeste just about exactly one year before this, and it's quickly become my favourite game of all time. This mod was an amazing way to get even more, so much more out of it. I partly played this along with a friend, so it's a nice shared experience; that always helps. I've also literally only played the first lobby yet but it's already amazingly fun and full of content for just 'the beginner world'. I don't think I'll be up for more than one lobby higher in terms of skill, so I'll cherish the idea of doing the next one and then looking back again.
    - Rabbit & Steel
    This was 100% the top highlight of the year for me. Again an experience I've been able to share with friends, and WOW this was such a special one. A genre of games I usually never play, one of my friends brought the game to my attention, and I fully embraced it. It's honestly been a great way to reconnect with him after he went from being my best friend to kinda just "one of my friends" when we left school. Everything I did IRL during the time we actively played the game was drenched in its soundtrack and I was always thinking of spending more time with them in-game. It also beautifully accompanied my entry into a new platform, Reddit, as someone who really hasn't ever done much on social media. Thanks to the amazing community, I've had a silky smooth introduction to this part of the internet and my experiences with it couldn't have been more positive so far. And even though we finished the game months ago, I'm still posting about the game as I write. I'll remember this game as something very special and perhaps this year for it.

    With a big love for platformers I wish I could play Astro Bot, but I don't plan on buying a PS5 so that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
    I'm surprised you got deep into Monster Hunter all of a sudden. It's something a lot of my gaming friends adore, yet I can't find that special spark personally. Would definitely be interested in a video about it with your views on what hooked you and how you got into all the mechanics etc. I tried MH Rise, but was overwhelmed by how different it feels and plays to anything I played before. I felt like a toddler holding the controller, not knowing which button to press to do this or that. MH Wilds doesn't seem like a great time to give it another chance, but maybe somewhere down the line ...

      I'll definitely make a Monster Hunter video at some point, still trying to figure out what form it'll take. It's a very obtuse series at times, and can be incredibly difficult to get into. I started with Rise as well in 2021, but I didn't feel like I had a full grasp on the mechanics until much later on.

  • @Armbrust210
    @Armbrust210 День назад +2

    Can't recall hearing you got into the MH series, so was really surprised when you unloaded that barrage of played games on us. Glad you're enjoying it!
    I love the series and while i'm personally a bit doubtful of Wilds Quality after playing the Beta, due to the many bugs, empty maps and washed out graphics, i can assure you that MH4U is amazing all the way through the experience. It's my pick for the best game of all time, actually. Even though such assessments mostly aren't worth much to the general public. There just hasn't been any game as immersive, carefully crafted, filled with content and with such a high Level of quality throughout.
    Although nowadays, with the online servers sadly offline and by that, a lot of the experience missing, it might be a bigger deal that the end of the high rank storyline and its last quest are a bit dissappointing, coming from the spectacle of the end of low rank. I hope you can at least experience G-Rank by playing with friends locally, that's still gonna be an amazing time. MHGU is also certainly worth playing, however it's quite closely derrivative of MH4U, but seeing how you've also played 3U, i'm sure some of the references will be great fun. And the Hunting styles in general are a blast. Brave Style Long Sword is the best it's felt throughout the series.
    Stories 1 btw is also great, some even prefer it to it's succesor.
    Also don't be deterred by the harsh criticism Rise gets sometimes, thats mostly just World players who didn't agree with the game going a bit more back to the roots of the series. If you've suffered through World and Iceborne respectively and like the earlier games better, i'm sure you will have an awesome time with Rise

    • @NintendoHero
      @NintendoHero  День назад

      I actually played Stories 1 way back in 2018 when I didn't even know Monster Hunter was a larger series, and I do probably prefer it over its sequel. Rise was my first real introduction to the series back in 2021 though, and while I had a blast with the game, it also kind of confused me. The combination of World and then 3U earlier this year is what really pulled me in, so I still need to go back and play Sunbreak. It's great to hear how much you love 4U, I've been having a blast with it so far. It feels like the perfect mid point between the old and new styles.

    • @Armbrust210
      @Armbrust210 12 часов назад +1

      @NintendoHero What a journey! Very interesting how you've picked up 3U directly after playing World, i feel that's an unusual path but amazing that it drew you in. I love 3U for it's atmosphere and Innovation in Monster Design and Combat.
      But i do think MH4U feels a lot more modern, due to the Y-Axis beeing accesible during ground combat. If that makes sense.
      4U really struck a great balance and gave the Hunter and his weapons a deep move-set with many possibilities to adapt to his enviroment and an attacking Monster, if planned in a timely manner, as to still have the player think about his actions and consider his options carefully beforehand, as mistakes still come very costly. That kind of methodical combat, that relied on quick thinking as much as on fast and precise Inputs is what makes combat in MH fun for me. Games lately have drifted more towards the quick input side, with counters beeing so widespread now and various ways to make the hunter more mobile during item usage. Not that That's not fun in its own way :').
      Then there's 4U's Story, atmosphere, Artstyle, Monster Roster, the list goes on... i could talk about it all day. Glad you're enjoying it too

    Astrobot definitely seems like a game I would like, I’ll probably never get to play it tho since I don’t see myself getting a PS5 anytime soon since 1. it’s expensive and 2. i already have a lot of games and game consoles to play and 3. i don’t really have room for a ps5 anyway and I don’t know enough games I’d like for it to be worth buying for me

    Mr. hero you have to play god of war ragnarök and ghost of tsushima, since you have a ps5 you cant say that you cant play them. If you would make a 10 hour video i would still watch it.
    and BTW i am happy that you made another video, and play ghost of tsushima and god of war ragnarök, dont forget to play god of war and ghost of tsushima❤

      It's a really fantastic game, but it's hard to justify buying a PS5 solely for it. Also, it's probably not coming to PC because it utilizes the Dual Sense features probably more than any other PS5 game.
