  • In this Merric webinar presentation, we discuss the development and field validation of the navigation system for autonomous maritime robots. The autonomous navigation system of ships plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and efficient operations in the global maritime transportation environment, which accounts for over 90% of the world's shipping. However, there are numerous practical verification challenges that limit the practical application of autonomous navigation robots (ships) in complex multi-modal transportation situations, including optimal decision-making and safety concerns. In this webinar, we delve into research aimed at overcoming the difficulties of applying autonomous navigation in maritime environments by developing a comprehensive navigation pipeline through the development of a real-world autonomous maritime robot platform and algorithms and conducting field validation. This framework will not only be applicable to autonomous maritime robots (ships) but can also be extended and applied to other domains, serving as an explainable and reliable autonomous navigation decision-making system.
