  • The KAIST Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (RISLab) are conducting various research on quadruped robots. Design, control, mapping, perception learning, and path planning are among the notable areas of focus. Through this research, they aim to develop quadruped robots that can walk faster, more energy-efficiently, and with greater stability. The recently unveiled LaiBo robot represents an amalgamation of these research efforts and demonstrated the robust locomotion of quadruped robots on terrains such as sandy beaches and mountainous landscapes. This presentation will discuss the diverse research and achievements incorporated into LaiBo, as well as outline the development direction for LaiBo 2.
