- According to Wikipedia, Messehallen subway station is the deepest subway station in Germany regarding the distance between platform and ground level. There is an intermediate floor located right below ground level, from where some of the longest escalators in Germany lead down to platform level. The diagonal elevator is placed next to one of those in such a way that the mechanics of the escalator are partly visible.

I have a question is the escalator next to the elevator kind of a backup because that would be usefull for if one of the front ones breaks down then they turn that one on to save money on repairing them
