That is seriously the ducks nuts mate!!! this has been my fav build , cant bloody wait for the next episode already i was so excited when the notification came up !!! epic stuff
Ah man. I love this build. Lots of inspiration for the build I'm working on for my 1997. Everytime more videos of it pop up in my feed I have to click!
That's not a shroud that's a plate blanking 50 percent of the air flow and only sucking air directly in front of fans. It needs to be sat off radiator so fans can suck or blow 100 percent of face area.
100% Get slimmer fans and have the shroud folded to stand of about 30mm. All that shroud is gonna do is suck from the surface area of the fans not the entire radiator surface area. Might aswell just mount the fans direct to the core.
@@ottigreenisgo I've toyed with that but wasn't a fan.🤦 Ive found thermos loose effectiveness at around the 60kmh, which then relys purely on radiator design/efficiency. For me a dual pass radiator and good shroud worked the best.
@@Franksssss 100% that is why having the flaps let the radiator flow much more air than it being funnelled through just the fan hole. and dual-pass always!
Love 80 series and didn’t know what I would think of the van cruiser but I LOVE IT. Fantastic job mate, also it would be great to mic 🎤 up the better half.👍
Alloy draw frame, forget the name of the stuff but there's a bunch of standard square section lengths that are joinable with elbows and butts from Bunnings. Will cut the weight down. And if joined correctly will be just as strong as steel
You have a Mig, you can weld alloy, its no harder than steel when working with shs like you are going to use for the frame. Just need to get some 100% argon and a teflon liner for the hose and give it a go!
Might be worth putting some sort of divider in the shroud between the radiator fans, so when one fan is off the the other fan will suck air through the radiator not through the back of the fan that’s off
Hey mate, If you don't want to splash out on a proper long range tank ($1100+) then get a prado 90 or 120 series rear tank. They are 95 litres and fit pretty damn well with a basic bracket. I can send through some detailed pics on what you need to make, can be done in less than a day for around $200-250 for everything.
That turbo drain line might end up melting with how close it is to the manifold even if it does have that silicone protective coating on it. Would recommend some sort of extension of routing away from that cylinder one runner. Sweet as conversion tho mate! Turbo sounds wicked.
I’ve got money he’s going to do a starlight headliner in there. Funnily enough, as far as I know I was the first person to do that to a 4b in Australia 🤙🏼 love it in my gu
Hey brother I have an 80 series to and they are mad. They sound so good. Sad thing is I do not have a turbo on my engine😞. But hopefully one day I will be able to rebuild my whole care just like you. It has always been a dream of mine to so hopefully I will. Anyway I will hopefully I will be able to buy some of your merch brother. It looks cool and would love to have some. Anyway hope you have a good week and hope you can get that thing going hard. Love the vids. Always love/enjoy watching these vids on the vancruiser.
you may run into overheating issues with that fan shroud the way it is, it needs more holes for better air flow through the radiator you’ll fine the radiator will be more efficient with more holes in that shroud Keep in mind what the factory shroud is like and how efficient they are
Oi gunning for a job at jiffy lube!? Show synthetic squeezy jugs of oil then stick in the mineral one...which is weird as the Nulon synth diff oil is the best value around
"James Bond" - plays Mission Impossible theme song -- (I bet Q would love the Vancruiser. Get some rocket launchers in there)
Make sure you get a battery suitable for in the cabin that one you have now will vent gases and is no good.
So rad to hear it roar properly. The smile on your face says it all.. pure happiness. Been so good watching this build.
That is seriously the ducks nuts mate!!! this has been my fav build , cant bloody wait for the next episode already i was so excited when the notification came up !!! epic stuff
Thanks legend
A heap of work but always worth the reward
Ah man. I love this build. Lots of inspiration for the build I'm working on for my 1997. Everytime more videos of it pop up in my feed I have to click!
if running the fans sequential might be worth putting some of that rubber seal between the 2 to stop it sucking through the other
My thoughts exactly 👍

Was thinking the same, needs to weld like 50mm strip of aluminium around the perimeter to allow it all to pass through easier
and have openings with rubber flaps to allow to flow better when driving. which will be sucked shut when the fan is on
@@ottigreenisgo I've toyed with that but wasn't a fan.🤦

The can cruisers sounds like an angry dinosaur. What a beast!
Theres just something about Turbo spool!! Sounds amazing already Sam can't wait to hear it on the dyno!
There are many of us concerned about your fan shroud, keep us posted on how it works out. Can't wait to see the adventures
hey Sam i love your videos bro ur videos on the 80 have inspired me to get more into 4wd ing and i can’t wait till i can finally make my own build
Awesome to hear dude 🤘
Love 80 series and didn’t know what I would think of the van cruiser but I LOVE IT. Fantastic job mate, also it would be great to mic 🎤 up the better half.👍
Your editing is top notch! Makes is so much more interesting. Lot of work. Thank you

Aluminum extrusions

Cubelok I think
Thanks Sam, good ep. the beasts coming along nicely
Thanks mate :)
Have a look at some Alucore for the bed base and drawers. No rust, no soggy timber, no welding and super light.
mate a few bits of angle /box aluminium, a drill, and some rivets should do the the trick. steel is heavy and over kill for what you're doing
She's coming together!! Looking and sounding bloody mint!!
Yewww
Sick episode mate! What a rig!
Can feel the excitement this things insane

My 105series 1FZFE turbo is nearly finished did same setup thermo fans like yours 🤠👍
Yeah cheers for even a wave or acknowledgement today Sam pffffff real top bloke aye
holidaying in maroochydore at the moment and the weather is lovely, waters not even that cold
Might be worth putting some sort of divider in the shroud between the radiator fans, so when one fan is off the the other fan will suck air through the radiator not through the back of the fan that’s off
make sure you add a few speed flaps onto the shroud. at speeds the fans can actually be an airflow restriction.
Was just about to say the same thing mate
Great vid. The rig is really coming together. Can't wait for the next episode.
That plain sounds amazing
Damn I wish I hadn’t squandered so many years at uni.
Admire anyone that can do what Sam’s doing.
You know the Haltech can control the water/meth and it has in built strategy?
This thing is an absolute weapon and when’s it’s finished it’s gonna be epic can’t wait to see it
The rear inner door handles are a nice touch :P
Good stuff man. Hurry up and get it finished :)
Haha they are gone already
Should have left them there 😂
New drinking time for this episode everytime Sam says "sticky back" down a schooner

She’s coming along nicely and she sounds so mean
You talking about the car or his misses 🤭
When you do end up getting a mattress, come see me at Clark Rubber Kawana. I'll help ya out!
You have to go to yeppoon byfield 5 rocks and 9 mile beach... also be good place to take the vancruiser
Awesome work Sam! That thing is going to be absolutely epic.
Thats some seriously good noises coming from that
Awesome build mate i cant wait to see the finished result
Love the work on the 80 keep it up
The acoustic liner from car builders is amazing, you would have seen it on the roof of my 60 series Sam.
Looks Great Mate Keen too see it all finished Our LS3 80 is not far away 🤙🏼
This thing would look so cool with some old school airbrushing on the side of the wagon. A cool mural of some sort !?!?

Sounds n looks bloody mint... cant wait for a ride in it😜
Are you coming to Tasmania as well, for the competition??? To drive the vancruiser.
First drive was SICCCC!!
Looks like your channel is about to blow up
Not James Bond. Mission impossible music. What a crack up !
Sounds bloody unreal. Looking great.❤👍🍺🇦🇺

It might have already have been said, but don't use mdf, it'll swell from moisture over time. Use marine ply.
Hey mate, you should put the battery under the bed in a sealed box! Just in case :)
Well the weather in Perth has been terrible so your still winning
That’s fucking sick, congrats on getting close to finishing!
I've stuffed more things with easy outs than I've fixed. Better to get yourself a set of left hand threaded drill bits
Looking amazing bro keep it coming
An sun/star gazing roof would be sick for camping in the panel4x4
I got the next best thing haha

Bought myself a bnb jumper whilst watching this. Hope I get to ride in the van cruiser!
Instead of using timber use some aluminium composite panel will keep the weight down and isn’t too expensive
haha when you put the self idling program discord was open
Holy sheiit what a weapon!
Love this build mate.❤
Check out aculock from action aluminium..would work well for the rear. No welding.
Even the one from bunnings works well!
Nice rig mate. What a weapon cant wait to hear u given it shit 😎💪
I’m going around Australia later this year, Australian government, no your not
Gvm upgrade required for the bed 🤣👌🏻
Oi gunning for a job at jiffy lube!? Show synthetic squeezy jugs of oil then stick in the mineral one...which is weird as the Nulon synth diff oil is the best value around
#10 on trending lets gooooo!!!!!
Best 4WD Ever Built!
For the Mrs…….Safety glasses with the wire wheel PLEASE
Fuck yes! This build is epic! See you in Syd if the next couple weeks go as planned.
Mighty 1fz sounding yum 😈🔥
Should buy a UNIMIG viper mate with a spool gun and then you can ally mig for frames like this 🤙
sounds sick
I noticed the motorbike in the garage is that yours ?? Do you ride Sam ? Next episode put a clip of that in people will love it 😍
Looks sick
Try using wax and grease remove to get glue and shit like that off if it is not all off new sound deader sheets won’t stick as well
Beautiful 80.
sounding sweet ass . . . can't wait to see the end product
Awesome 👍👍
WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Thought my 80 was nice but your miles ahead of me lol
did I literally watch a riv-nut get put in so it jams against the rad core??? we'll probably see that revisited on a future episode
Nice go the 80
Sounds so good
Looks like you need a front end alignment haha
Sounds so sick
Put gasless wire in ur mig welder a u won’t have to worry about gas
Makes me want to turbo my fz
Hey mate you should look into acm it's good shit for lining stuff up and super light weight
Sssoooooo been waiting for this one
you should be running dino in the diffs, full synthetic is way clunkier and louder.
😍🔥😎 Music to my ears
Come to Tasmania as well for the comp
Buy a hand spool gun for your welder and argon gas then you’ll be able to mig weld aluminium
Great content
