I already have purchased those three lenses (my 55-250 is the latest) this year, shortly getting my first Rebel camera. I am starting again following a 15 year retirement from a 35 year career as a professional photographer. Your demonstration and analysis is spot on.
Just getting this camera and I see a huge difference between the kit lense and the 24m I’m def ordering soon and for $99 on Amazon prime. U can’t bet that ✔️👌🏽 thanks for the help buddy
Thanks for uploading this video. I bought a T7I and efs 35mm f2.8 IS Macro STM on black Friday sale. The lense doubles as a 35mm walk around lense and has image stabilization. I don't think I will buy the kit lense but the EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM I want to look into. I learn alot from your videos and just moved up from point and shoot to dslr.
I love your videos...I bought the Cannon t7i and also have the 24mm, 50mm, 18-55mm, and 55-250mm (I got the 18-55mm and 55-250mm in my purchase package). I just picked up the 24mm and 50mm to get some wide angle and low light pictures in Disney World. What about using the pre-programmed scenes settings with the 50mm? Were they helpful or did you just go to manual mode?
I played with some of the low light presets and found that using Av mode or manual mode with Iso in auto seemed best for the 50mm in low light. Especially if you want to stay around f1.8. But I'm fairly new at this myself, so I'm not even sure that's the best way.
Thank you! I have just bought the T7i a couple months ago and learned a LOT from your videos. I got some criticism for not going 77D, but I really love the T7i. The cool thing is I can keep watching your videos to learn on the same camera. Here is a thumbs up from Pittsburgh, PA....
@@FitsandFun thank you! Ill make sure i order mine next week Im watching your videos good stuff👍 one more thing do you recommend the kits lens for vlogging? Or witch lens would be the one🤔
Kit lens is good outdoors for vlogging, it's not great for indoor lighting. I personally love the Canon 24mm f2.8 for vlogging. It's very small and really sharp.
just watched both your part one and two on t7i they were fantastic. I just bought it 2 weeks ago adn love the camera !! thank for the time you put into the vids. Just today now thinking what lens to replace the kit lens wiht and youtube sent me this ... I'm now going to watch it adn see whether you consider the one I am thinking of. So you didnt mention it ..... I am considering the sigma 17-70 f2.8-f4 macro. what do you think of it? have you ever used it?
I do vlogging and I have the kit lens. I feel like I can't get it far enough away to get my face in the shot without cutting off my chin or my forehead. Will the 24 mm fix this with a wider angle? I'd love to know before I make the purchase. Thanks for the great information.
Hey Aaron, Larry from Westerville O-H. I just picked a lightly used T7i from World of Photography in Grandview. I’m a longtime Canon user (first Ftb in June of 1974). I’m trying to find out if I can change the LCD screen color like on my T3i. I’ve watched you, the Northrups and read the manual til my eyes crossed. It is not mentioned anywhere that I can find. Can u help this Buckeye out? I-O
Thanks for the lovely demonstration. However one small doubt 24mm is a efs lens means for only apsc camera like 800d ..do we still consider the view by adding the crop factor i.e. around 38 .. since this is efs lens my understanding was it will be 24mm Only when we connect with apsc
+Sutirtha Chatterjee My understanding is that it's 1.6x crop on the t7i/800D, so even though it is advertised as a 24mm, it's understood that it's not a true 24mm, and to your point, it is in fact a 38mm. But now you've got me thinking that if it's advertised and sold for crop sensors, then why wouldn't you add the crop factor into the focal length and put that on the body of the lens as well.
Fits and Fun yeah true...even that's was my doubt too..it's efs so Ideally it should have 24 mm in apsc too however as you mentioned it's actually 38mm in apsc ..then it should have been 24mm EF lens n not efs ...let me know if you get any idea
Wow, that's tough. My go to lens is the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, but it is big and heavy, and expensive. For a great all around lens that travels great, the 24mm f2.8. However there is no zoom, so... The sigma 17-50mm f2.8 might be a great option for you. I haven't reviewed it, but it checks a lot of boxes.
Is your 50-mm a usm lens? I find them fast but very noisy. I've switched all my lenses to stm lenses so much quieter for video. I have two 55-250 lenses one is STM is great for video but better on a tripod. I am also using the Canon Rebel T7i and use the built in stabilization with the lens stabilization When I don't have a tripod. Great Channel very helpful. Keep up the good work.
Great videos keep working ! I bought recently the yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 so now I am about to buy the t7i but I am in a dilemma whether to go for 24 mm f/2.8 or go with the kit lens that comes with the body. 24mm canon lens without stabilization seems a deal-breaker to me. As I want it mostly for videos. But from the other hand the kit lens comes with f/4-5.6...... what do you suggest according to your experience so far with these lenses.
+KlaydPro In my opinion the stabilization is weak on this camera anyways, so even with kit lens IS on, and the Digital movie IS on, it's not great. So with that said, I'd recommend the body and the 24mm, because I think the 24mm is wide enough to help compensate a little, and I just focus on keeping the shot stable. And I think the video comes out excellent and razer sharp. Unfortunately my Samsung S7 edge has stabilization that blows the T7i away. But 2 totally different technologies.
Would you recommend getting the kit lens, or just getting the body & buying a separate lens for it? I’m a beginner & this would be my first dslr. I’m wanting a great camera to take on trips/vacations for primarily pictures & a little video. Thanks for any input!
+Nicole Howell I would start with the kit lens package. This was my first dslr also, and I started with just the kit lens, and absolutely loved it. I used it day and night for a week before I decided to get the Canon 55-250mm for our Zoo trips. But there is nothing wrong with the kit lens at all, in fact it is considered one of the better kit lenses. Over time and once you see how you prefer to shoot, you'll more than likely want some additional lenses, or it's possible the kit lens will be perfectly fine. Family pics, vacations, video it's a perfect srarter in my opinion. Hope this helps.
The 50mm at f/1.8 vs the f/2.8 of the 24mm is a huge difference. The 24mm is a fantastic all around lens for photo and video in Auto mode. The 50mm has a lot more potential for low light and bokeh because of the f/1.8, however it does require you to use the Apature Priority mode or Manual mode to fully utilize it. Very different lenses. Also the 50mm requires a lot more space, the focal length makes it difficult to use in smaller spaces. In my opinion.
thank you for the reply! think im going to purchase the 77D very soon, and wanted to know what lenses i should be looking at... think im purchasing the 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 USM lense as it seems to have better reviews than other kit lenses that they come with...

Thanks, Aaron for "Lens Class" 101. Your videos are straight to the point, demonstrative and informative. Thank you very much for making them.
Just purchased the 24mm using your link. Thanks!
Thank you for this amazing video ,
it's real good to know what Lanes does. 👍👉
Thank you video..really helped in purchasing choice.

Love the comparison!!
So should i get the 50mm lens for my t7i? And would i have to step a lil more back for taking video and pictures? I like the blury background
Yes, that lens will give you a very blurry background if you shoot at f1.8. Great for portraits and video.

Hi! What lense do you prefer for travel photography for t7i? Can handle on low light, landscape, street, selfies. All in one lense.

Very informative demonstration. I heard that the 24 mm lense hunt when used in autofocus mode? Any tips to prevent the hunting?
I've had zero issues with the 24mm. It's been extremely reliable and consistent.

Very helpful video thank you
Very helpful. Just got my camera and need to learn about the various lenses available.
Thanks for your help bro💯✔
I have the t7i and the 18-135mm. I'm looking at the 10-18mm. 100-300mm. Do you have any suggestions for me
What are you using it for? Video, portraits, landscape ?
@@FitsandFun I'm looking to do both portraits and landscapes As well as animal photography

I had debated purchasing the 55-250 lens and ended up buying a Tamron 18-200 lens instead. I bought before I saw this video
I almost bought the Tamron 18-200. I still might get the 18-400mm at some point. How do you like the 18-200?

Yes

I was underwhelmed by the 50mm f1.8 performance, but 24mm f2.8 is pretty decent.
thanks for your vids, great infos for me. like and sub.
Lost interest on the last lens you forgot to mention 10-18 or the 24-70 L lens 2.8 these are monster lenses you have to at least consider
25mm looks more crisper than the kit lens
This comment is 3 years late so you probably know this now, but it's 55 TO 250, not 55 X 250. its a number range, not an equation.
You really took the time to tell me that, come on man.
