Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Replying to Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. This is not just for me as the creator, it is a valuable source of information for all readers of the comments. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes significant time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! So my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live for the first few hours at least, and beyond that when possible. I'll see how that works out 😊

Video proposal: take one of your kits with all the fancy stuff, replace with Amazon knockoffs, then compare and contrast.
Good idea!
Bonus: Give the Amazon kit to Jamie and have a contest to see how they each perform😂
Good idea. I've owned a bluetooth rx/tx for many years. It's not as pretty as the Airfly, but it's still going.
Ah, Amazon. The company that allows shoppers to send junk and broken items knowingly all the time and doesn't care from a customer service stand point. I gladly pay a little extra now instead of getting defective crap that is a pain in the ass to return or is not worth the hassle to return(shippers count on that).
@@casiedorsett5383as a follow on they could both go away together and “survive” on their own kits with bonus/minus points if they need to borrow from each other.
Just bought the datablocker cable - thank you! I didn't know that was a thing!
Glad I could help!
I have the Bellroy Duo. The large is my DOP kit and the small one is my med kit. Great products.
On my latest flight, I could easily connect my Bluetooth headphones to the seat back onboard entertainment system which was nice as the screen was much bigger than my phone.
That’s good to hear!
thanks for bringing some of the newest tech to light mate
My favourite thematic!
I'd also recomend soap leaves, such as the ones made by lifeventure, for any travel dopp kit.
I've been using a Lite Pouch for my toiletries for a few weeks and I think it's a good compromise between weight and some organisation!
I have been traveling with the Airfly Pro for several months and LOVE it. (The Pro version also works only with Airpod Pros). I can attest to the 16 hour battery life and is multi -ersatile, to include plugging into laptop, or tablet as an easier solution to dealing with sometimes difficult bluetooth connections, its a must have for travelers as it can also be plugged inti anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack or AUX port.
Thanks for the first hand feedback- appreciated 👍
Cable wise previously reviewed incharge x cable XL is a good choice
I hadn’t heard of a data blocker before! I’ve just bought one!
I used the UGREEN 65W 2xUSB C/1 x USB A when I traveled recently. It wasn't as thin (maybe light) as the one you've shown but the UK pins folded back in on the charger which I found handy. Pretty good charger overall.
I've had a Suri brush for just over a year now. Still going strong and really happy with it. They do have sales from time to time, got mine for about £50. Always enjoy the videos, all the best Jon!
Great to hear 👍 thank you
Jon, thanks a lot for such an informative video. As always, a few great finds for me to check out. I purchased some stuff you recommended before and can't thank you enough ❤
Thank you for demoing all this cool gear! I am so glad that irontide dropped shorts that are more stylish in my opinion!!
I agree 👍
Nice reviews. Thank you 👍
Thank you!
Great stuff as always Jon!
Pleasant journey, Gadget
Have been using the Minix charger for a good while now, and it's brilliant. It's been really reliable, and does seem to be the smallest charger available with that functionality they i can find.
I’ve been using the same Minix charger for close to 2 years. It’s been really solid for me.
i really enjoyed the video and its great to see the ideas, never thought about changing my tooth brush so much lol
Glad it was helpful!
I really appreciate that you make the work to prepare the videos with parts and comments. Very proffesional .👍
Thank you 🙏
Great video!! I travel to Europe every year from the US and I will definitely use some of your recommendations😊
Great to hear 👍
Superb video, thanks Jon
Glad you enjoyed it
I find it absolutely mad that we need some new tech to plug our headphones in to things these days when the audio jack was a simple, well designed and very functional method of doing it for so long. I mean I get we all want wireless or most do but phone companies getting rid of of the audio jack port was a huge step backwards. It's one of the many reasons I prefer android as you can still find phones that have one and as with many things it's possible to buy the phone that bests fits you rather than the one Apple has decided we need or don't with the next release. Oh the days when you could just buy a, set of good quality headphones and they could be both wired and wireless and all you needed was the cable they'd supplied when you bought them.
Picked up JBL Live 460's the other day, advertising Alexa and Google support, and they came with a TRS 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable in the box. Useful for my New 2dsxl, my audio mixer, or will be good for seat-back screens when next I travel. And the Bluetooth is also good on them.
Doesn’t bother me - I’d rather the space was made available for larger batteries etc. I’d only ever use wireless headphones anyway, so its just wasted space.
I love my Suri toothbrush so much! I didn’t want to leave it behind on my last trip so I got a plastic snap on cover for the brush head and stuck it in my kit just like that. It did go on once in my bag but the rest of the trip it was fine.
great vids! new sub here, lol at the oral b charging base, i have the same problem! cheers from the Philippines!
Nice. Magtame cables look good, but I'm kind of enjoying not replacing Anker cables. I like the smaller 65w charge, though. I think I'll check out a couple more reviews before using a new brand, but i would like to upgrade the old samsung charger that CURRENTly 😊 resides in my tech pouch
It may be overkill, but my preferred travel charger is a SlimQ 240w with the DC break-out box. It comes with snap-on universal plugs and provides 4 USB-C ports and 2 USB-A ports for all your gear.
The extension cable is also nice for those weirdly-placed outlets in the Airbnb or....
Yep, had to get a Suri 👍
I have a cable that has a usb c/a on one end and a usb c/ligthning/micro on the other. One cable to cover all devices, I usually carry a couple with me.
I’ve been using the Minic for a year, charging laptops, iPad, phones - it has been very good.
Good to know 👍
Great video as always Jon. Philips also makes a USB C chargeable toothbrush 😊 You should check out the Matador toothbrush cover. A little silicon sleeve goes over the head. Much less bulk than the full case
Thanks for the tip!
The magnetic USB cables are really cool.
Im usualy with Fenix, but had issues with the last one i bought. So im going going, back back, to Nitecore 🕺
If it comes to universal travel charger I opt for Zendure brand. Truly all in one.
I’ve got one too but very bulky
Great overall review - Have you looked in to any Anker chargers? The Anker 735 (Nano II 65W) is my goto travel charger and as for the cable I use with it the Rolling Square InCharge XL (1m - 6 in 1). I would love to see your review of these products! Also I know that new products are out but if its not broke... Thanks!!
Hello Jon, I truly appreciate your videos thanks for all you produce. I wanted to share with you and your audience, that I rely on the "SDBAUX 3A/1.2M Multi 6 in 1 phone charger cable, USB A/USB-C to 2 iP/Micro USB/Type-C Port" to avoid transporting multiple cables. It supports USB-A/C and provide more than enough outputs for my Macbook + iPad + iPhone when connected it an ANKER 100W 3 ports charger. I wish you and the Jon Gadget channel all the best.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Stop it, I've already spent this months pocket money! 😭
😊
09:30 there are lots of travel adaptors that have USB sockets built in.
For some reason Jon, RUclips stopped recommending your vids this year so I have to manually check for new ones. But I love your content - keep it up! Edit: would love to see a (tongue in cheek) SHTF kit; CB radio, Meshtastic, fire starter, camping gear etc
Hi what about the 3 pin head phone jack on some flights, keep up the good work.Martin Thailand 😎
I have been using the Minix charger and iFly pro for a couple of years now and find them hard to beat! I fly Cathay regularly and they are slowly equipping their fleet with Bluetooth connectivity so the iFly is becoming less used but i still carry it in my Tumi electronics pouch just in case.
Good to know 👍
Regarding juice jacking with USB C there are usually 4 pairs of conductors CC, D, SS1, SS2. D would be usually the USB 2.0 specification, SS1&2 are to enable higher data rates like 3.0 5gbit, thunderbolt etc. CC has the discussion regarding what voltage should be supplied. Any logically designed juice jacking should only have cc, voltage, & ground.
I have the Minix Neo P1 and P3 and have had no issues. I would reccomend them.
Good to know about the brand. I’ve used a world adapter kit (gives you different plugs) from Apple with my USB C (2 slots) charging brick with great success. But the Minix one looks even lighter.
Good to know 👍
Although I had to buy the extra AU pin adapter.
Journey before destination
You asked for it, you got it. Roaring Fire Picofire Pro Pocket Organizer Pouch. Now just a matter of time before you review it. Just received mine, and kicks my 'maxpedition' in it's pouch!!!
Will check it out 👍
Hi, Jon. Airfly gadget looks great for frequent flyers (if there’s no lag if you’re watching a movie) but how are you getting on with your search for new earbuds? I recall from your Thai video that you mentioned your AirPod Pro earbuds weren’t a great fit so you were looking for an alternative - would be good to learn how that search is coming along
With regard to the charger, did you look at the UGREEN 65W USB C Charger GaN Charger Fast Charger Plug Travel Adapter. This has got removable plugs (3 in the box) for Europe, America, and the Uk.
Yes, much bigger!
Great video. I regret that you are so locked into Apple products, though.
I know you guys can't carry but for folks in USA those swimming trunks are a prime way to conceal carry!!😅✊️🔥✌️💚
Not sure they are that covert but would keep water out!
@JonGadget most places are open carry shouldn't matter for that but just a added versatility if wanna go Rambo 🤪✊️🔥✌️💚
Happy Saturday Jon. Not even a Victorinox Rambler in your suitcase or to get you through airport security the blade less Jetsetter in your pocket?
Hi Steve - full load out to come…
Hi Jon, have you looked at reviewing companies like WANDRD and AER ? Absolutely great products 👍
Agree - both great brands
To avoid juice jacking I just use my powerbank … I’m lazy to carry too many gadgets
I'm surprised you've not got Ugreens aux bluetooth dongle. I got mine for £15 on sale on amazon and it might not have the battery life of the one in the video but it's a mega saving and a great brand as you know
Great option but love the combined features of the 12 South
Good luck with that charger. I had one, never fully trusted it and today threw it away. Ran very hot indeed and smelt of hot electronics and not in a good way. I'm sticking with Anker.
Are the interior pockets of the bellroy pouch made from ripstop or a different material?
Fantastic video Jon, some really compelling stuff here. Then charger, toothbrush, cables and Bluetooth connector are now all on my list. I can feel my wallet getting lighter already! 😂… thanks
Cheers Phil, glad it was of interest 👍
I've had 2 of the mini chargers and they've both failed. I don't think the can handle the 100W for very long.
The Ugreen version of the Airfly is much cheaper and has the same functionality too
Good to know
3 or 4 segment plug?
Beware those in the UK. Irontide don’t offer returns for UK customers. I had a real drama with them after ordering the wrong size shorts. I think this should be mentioned (if still the case)
I wasn’t aware of this if it is the case now?
My phone lets me choose whether I want to do just charging or both (charging + data) - when I connect to a USB port
The US link for the Phillips toothbrush seems to be broken.
Does the air fly have audio lagtime when watching videos?
Was wondering the same thing too.
Look at the Quip toothbrush
Bellroy prices are going crazy
My experience with the Minix charger was pretty terrible, it let the smoke out and tripped a breaker. Not great on a trip.
Not great to hear!
The charging base crud. Try hydrogen peroxide.
I use a wet wipe or moist wipe which are always to hand in the bathroom. And when I can be bothered, a cotton bud to get up in the inside of the bottom of the toothbrush body. Jon, how could you let yours get so grim?! 😂
I know I’m bad! I think the replaceable head holds liquid even after drying
Wait isn’t any trip out of the UK an overseas trip?
Yes, but I do a lot of UK trips too 😊
Where are the locpkicking sets?! What kind of an international man of mystery travels without any ?
There are some great ones you can make or buy like the Night Crawler by Sparrows or the Pocket Pen Pick Set by Southord.
Your thumbnail looked bit too much like pack hacker's travel essentials etc. videos :-D
Not meant to - it’s a style you’ll see we have used for some time now 👍
A quick clarification regarding the Philips One toothbrush: while it does get advertised as a sonic toothbrush, it is FAR from it. I own both a Phillips Sonicare and a Suri, and the Phillips One in comparison is an overpriced regular toothbrush with a vibrating handle. Suri is great, and I got myself one for travel so as to reduce the bulk of the Sonicare, but it’s still not as powerful as the latter, though you will still get a great electric toothbrush experience while on the go. Having said that, the Phillips One is a no go. You’re better off buying a cheaper manual toothbrush, as the vibrations of the One are as useless.
I like it! I’m away right now with it and it feels like it’s doing a good job.
Tried the suri, not impressed and returned in a couple of days
Damn it seems that to travel you need to know Latin hahahaha
Jon needs an ASMR channel... lol
😊
Here’s a tip for free. Take a bog standard toothbrush with you. Money saved! Weight saved!
What about your teeth though? 😬
@@JonGadgetNow _THAT'S_ an OCD response!
[ Like ... I have to spend £35 to save 15 grams on a travel bag to hold my £90 electric toothbrush (that weighs at least 170 grams more than an unpowered one) because my teeth will go to hell if I have to use a manual brush for the whole 2 weeks I'm on vacation 😅 ]
$89 dollars for shorts??? you and IronTide most be on drugs 😅
Waterproof zippers are virtually useless! If the stitching is not tape seamed the item is barely water resistant. I find this often very misleading in the EDC world. Besides the fabric/material used, the stitching is the most important in making the item water-resistant or waterproof.
Waterproof zippers help, but so useless and harder to open.
Water resistant is a better description for sure
I like your videos but your microphone is picking up every type of saliva sound from your mouth. All I can hear are crackling saliva sounds.
Thanks for feedback - will check this out
@@JonGadgetit's all good Jon. Not hearing anything.
I am not hearing that.
I’m hearing a ticking kind of sound. Not sure what it is though
@@Conflictofinterest902you should only worry when it stops ticking…
