Wow! I immediately bought $67 version. My girlfriend has Covid and within an hour or so I created the coolest "Hope you feel better" animation using the Adventure Scene with fish fading in and out synced to beautiful musical high points with "me" on the island sitting a computer typing "Good morning, Kitten" and then a kitten appearing on the mountain. The an idea bulb shows over my head, followed by the appearance of a piano and guitar, then me "playing" the guitar, with lyrics "Hope you feel better" and ending with "I love you" fading in between the clouds and mountains. Thank you for this tutorial! I was able to create something she will cherish. I'd be happy to share the animation with you if you like.
Thanks so much for pointing out that the $67 version is a very much slimmed down version. So the $67 version really isn't a "special offer", but more of a permanent price. That means I don't need to rush into this decision now.
Yes. And interestingly, Toonly and CreateStudio are priced the exact same right now... Toonly seems to have a new competitor that might actually be better than them!
Great review. I've bought it but my thinking is this. For a tiny fee, it's mine now for ever. If I use it on one paid project, that's my money back. Sure, there are big flaws, but if it's in my toolbox, I'll only use Toonly where I know I can work around them.... and where I can use it it's a very useable tool. I've got a shedload of giveaway tools - some only get used once a year! But they earn their place. Thanks again, Jenn, for being my go-to tester-cum-honest broker.
This is a great tutorial. I purchased everything at about $475 and it's just as bad as the basic $67 purchase. The end-product is amateurish and non-professional. I would be embarrassed to offer this to corporate clients. Once, again great tutorial, and I love your best efforts to promote #Toonly but I am canceling the annual renewal.
Great review, although the title "HONEST..." is the same phrasing that the affiliate promo videos use. So I almost didn't click on it. Nevertheless, I was surprised you liked the product as much as you did. I've used several (VideoMaker FX, Explaindio, and a few others) and I really, really don't like programs with limited flexibility or capabilities. Your review did clearly identify some (such as the very limited ways to introduce text) and other limitations (not all characters will perform all actions). When I've encountered those limitations in other programs, I've ended up spending a huge amount of time trying to develop work-arounds to make the video acceptable. For instance, I really liked VideoMaker FX, but the templates weren't modifiable at all. So if a template consisted of six words, I had to use six; five wouldn't work. If I wanted to hold the screen for an extra second, I couldn't. That reminded me of your problem of not being able to add pauses between sections of the voice-overs. (I thought of two simple work-arounds for that: (1) Create a single voice-over with the gap built in, or (2) Include the gap either at the end of the first voice-over or at the beginning of the second. But it shouldn't be necessary to out-think or fool the program.) Another point, and this is just my personal preference: The characters were way too cartoonish. It's okay if some are, but (as in the example you demonstrated) it's not going to be suitable for many clients. Further, the corporate clients I've worked with aren't 20-somethings with goatees. They just aren't, and so I wouldn't be able to use a lot of those characters. So, while the price is good and it's great that there aren't recurring charges, the severe limitations and the lost productivity in trying to find acceptable workarounds make this a clear "no" at any price. Again, I appreciated the review. [Note: I'm signed in on my son's RUclips account; I'm Don, not David.]
I have recently purchased Toonly as well. Here's my advice to all of you. Treat Toonly like a flat-tipped screwdriver. You can use this tool for many things, but I wouldn't try to use it for everything. What I've done is created animated scenes in Toonly, so I can get movement and lip-syncing simply. But then I take those scenes into an actual video editor program (I use Cyberlink Power Director) and stitch the scenes together in there, using transitions and zooming in for jump cuts or emphasis. I can then add special effects or PIP shots of products wherever I need to. I also lay the music track in Power Director, because that's where I'm rendering the full video. Toonly is a screwdriver. Sure I can chisel with it, or pry out a staple or nail, or even punch a hole in the drywall if need be. But it's a screwdriver first. It will never be a wrench. There are better tools for other parts of the production. The trick is using the right tool for the right job. Am I happy with my purchase? Yes. It does make some parts of my productions easier and quicker when I need it, and that's what I use it for. Would I ever try to make one of my videos using Toonly by itself? No. There are too many limitations, not the least of which is the inability to bring in and animate your own characters. But for $67 it has been worth the cost.
I appreciate you putting this I'm Glad I found this first, I would of been pissed as a music artist which does everything independently and I ended up waste money if i brought this and saw how limited this was sooo thank you!
@@darija5494 No. It says so at the timestamp. You'd have to pay 147 dollars for commercial rights. Without that, You'll only have the right to make videos, not videos that'll make you money.

Thank you so much for this video, I was thinking about buying the $67 version of this software. I think I can work it out for what I want it but I needed to see a review of this and you did my life easier with this video! Thank you so much! 😁
Thank for this, it clarified some things in my mind as to what the software could or could not do. I bought the Enterprise version a few days ago and am disappointed at the inability to create characters and the text options are awful. Since I cannot customise the audio properly, I think I will have to record it elsewhere, snip it, and place on different layers to get better audio control. If that's possible. I have already customised by creating my own backgrounds and objects, comprising of non-animated characters, unique specific objects and a whole bunch of text bubble objects (so that I do not have to rely on their text options to get a character to speak). What a pity such options, found elsewhere and easy to use, are not offered on this platform. It would have been an incredibly powerful, no-brainer to buy software otherwise.
@jennjager First and foremost, thank you so much for this review! Unlike alot of these type videos, you made this EASY to watch and learn at the same time. My question is did you look deeper into the $147 option and if it's worth taking that extra step?
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your videos. I’ve wanted to create animated youtube videos for so long and i’ve been doing a ton of research on all the different platforms I could use, and this channel is exactly what I was looking for 😍
Can I purchase their enterprise version directly? or do I need to buy the basic version first and then need to upgrade to Enterprise. Thanks. Hoping to get a quick response.
The resizing can be done once you zoom out of the viewing window. That because the Facebook logo is bigger in pixels then the working area… you must zoom out and you’ll see the resizing dots way outside of the area of work based on the actual size of the Facebook logo png. Give that a try or just upload elements smaller then 720p for better optimization. Great video btw.
I bought the enterprise The Gradients you used at the start have gone - text has 5 options - Fonts still a pain, I can expand-contract images i imported as objects, Audio is probably a little over 100
Hi Jennifer, you say the gradient backgrounds are not customisable (4:30). How bout making a gradient background in Photoshop and upload that into Toonly. Is that possible?
Woah, not too often do you get a no-bullshit, fat trimmed off review video. You're awesome Jenn! Didn't even feel lik eit was half an hour and I got all the info I needed, thanks :)
This is an amazing and really detailed review. I just wish I had seen it BEFORE I bought the 67$ version today. However, it is still extremely useful as it acts like a kind of tutorial as well. Amazing style of presentation - really powerful, effective and honest. I have a question - for a Sales Training business, does it make more sense to use a tool like Toonly or Doodly to make an intro video?
@@clevsauditransplant Yes. It's a matter of how much you use it. It has to pay you back. So, for me, having the complete version is best because I can do more with it. They have provided several upgrades since my purchase and it seems to be getting better all around.
Great video. But I have few comments: 1. Please make a timeline with the important topics in the video. It gives a summary of what all is covered and I can skip to the section I want. 2. Please summarize in the start what are the parameters of your review. What are the features you will use to review. 3. Also in the start show the final video so that I know what can Toonly do and if I like, I will go through the video. Again great video. I hope my feedback makes sense to you.

Hi nice video, I'm interested in making 4-5sec animations like those you would get from Final Fantasy Summons (game) do you have any suggestions on how it can be done? Thanks.
Hey. I really enjoyed this and it’s helping inform my decision in a huge way. Thank you! I’m curious if you’ve used Animation Studio at all and how you’d say it compares, if so. Thanks!
I am new to toonly. Thank you for your review. I made a 4 scene video. Before I clicked save my computer went into a white screen and I could not see any of my work. I lost all 4 scenes. I had to redo it all. I saved along the way just in case that happened again and it did. Only this time my screen went black a couple times. When it came back on it only played my voiceover and no picture was on the screen. I logged out and back in then it worked. Have any of you experienced this?
Not sure if you or someone has produced a more updated video about Toonly and still searching. I'm the Director for a nonprofit for the Blind. Looking at using Toonly for educating the sighted about myths about being Blind while promoting donations. Do you or anyone know does Toonly offer the Enterprise version for an additional $97 after paying the $67 Standard purchase? Does Toonly have disabled persons or can I import my own sketches?
A question, please! If I had to choose only one of these two programmes, which one to choose and why, to cover more needs together, Doodly or Toonly? The answer can be here or in Linkedin Message! Great thanks in advance! BEST REGARDS!
Hi Jenn, Its amazing software this. I have some question about this software, is it possible to insert raw material video or other video that you have?
Oustanding Info, Thank you so much ive bungled around the premium verion but this gives me more understanding. By the way Enterprise version only has 6 Text Layouts instead 3 . Thanks for the thorough review!
Really cool video, thanks a lot! I realised that some images looked a bit blurry though (like the magnifying glass or the computer, even some characters). Is this due to the zoom in you applied to these images or are they just blurry by nature? Thanks a lot!
There are keyframes for resizing and a few other tweeks, avaliable. For the price it is ok and with a bit of playing around, I think you could get a good basic video.
What is the maximum length that a video can be? Could I create a project that is say 30 minutes long? I am thinking about other possible uses for this app.
I just purchased the $67 version and did the upgrade to the Enterprise version. ($97) Do you offer a course around tutorials on how to create videos? My interest is Instagram Reels.
Thank you so much! This is the third of your videos I've watched. Captivating! And such a great presentation style! (Why have you not got your own TV show on mainstream media!!). On my second screen, I've been checking out a thing called CreativeStudio which looks interesting. Have you seen it? Reviewed it? Finally, on the first of your videos that I watched (VideoScribe vs Doody), I noticed that you ised some dynamic arrows to lead the eye to the features you were explaining. I assume that these arrows are not in Doodly. Would I be right in thinking that they are from Motion (on Apple)?
Do you mean Create Studio? Here's my take: ruclips.net/video/HZjbphWCV8Y/видео.html I can't recall the arrows to which you're referring but probably in Motion-- that's what I use. Thanks for watching and the nice words!
@@JennJager Thank you.... I’ve watched your Create Studio review. Many thanks for your personal answer. I’m an English teacher (English as an additional language), hounded into online by the plague. I’m researching what’s described as the ‘flipped classroom’ (which is where the chalk and talk element in teaching is given prior to the lesson.... and the lesson is devoted to - effectively - homework or workshop activities). The ‘flipped classroom’ isn’t entirely ideal for language teaching; it’s better suited to subjects where there’s a large element of explanation or narration... the sciences, history, literature. I’ve bought the full version of Doodly... and I’ve taken out a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. I have a new gaming laptop coming on Wednesday... with 32Gb RAM (though I primarily use Apple products, especially iPad Pro). I’m thinking to create short quasi-explainer videos, quasi-practical exemplar videos (modelling grammatical structures, pronunciation, etc). Your videos are outstanding, particularly your to-camera screen presence. I’m full of admiration! I notice you refer to the viewer in the plural as ‘guys’ (i.e. in the plural). I’m just wondering whether you have a clear image of who your target viewer is. YT videos are usually watched solo; it’s rarely a group experience, unlike cinema or theatre. Do you think that maybe your exceptional warm and engaging onscreen presence might be enhanced by dropping any reference to the viewer - whether singular or plural? Just a thought! Thanks again for your help and your wonderful videos. (I’m working my way through them).
Thank you for this! I'D like to know though, just how many people get NEW clients with these Platforms. They're very cute and fun but who has gotten several new clients from Toonly & Doodly?? I'm a Holistic Fitness + Wellness Coach Practitioner in Toronto. I've been seeing my clients online privately and have 2 small group training classes. It's easy for advertisers to say they've generated more SOLID income per week but I want to hear from actual purchasers.
Thank you for the great review! I would like to ask if you have used the enterprised version I am not sure how much better it is than the basic version since it requires you pay around 97 dollars more, it would be great if you could review that version which helps me with my decision whether to get the enterprise version or not. Thank you!
Hi, great videos. I'd love to know what is the best cartoon animation software you'd recommend. Could you do a Vs shootout and free vs paid, etc. I don't have a lot to spend and I want to get the best bang for my buck. Cheers
Okay, lets make it short 1. Good Platform overall. 2. Company need to adjust lots of things, etc : process of picking font, set up background music, set up voice over. 3. Company should add more stocks of image, music, fonts, background etc. 4. You can add your own music and images. 5. For $67 lifetime = Its a great deal.
Constructive criticism here... You really didn't give a lot of info here that couldn't be found with just trial and error. You do a good job with the basics but for 30 mins I was expecting something more in depth. Overall a good video but it just wasn't what I was looking for. Can u believe that this is the first time I ever heard of and about Toonly? hahaha. anyway, thanks for this video. cheers!
Hi Jenn. Great review. May I know, it is true with this $67 version, the video we make can not upload on youtube to monetize?
Is 67$ for limitation or Unlimitation that similar to Standard or Enterprise? I am not sure about 76$. I need your advice.
fantastic video! I am an amiture that needs to create a few specific scenes and this is the perfect platform for me. Thank you!
Which $67 version is better for a newbie? Toonly or Doodly?
A question, please!
If I had to choose only one of these two programmes,
which one to choose and why,
to cover more needs together,
Doodly or Toonly?
The answer can be here or in Linkedin Message!
Great thanks in advance!
BEST REGARDS!
Hi, can the toonly 67$ version used for RUclips videos or commercials purpose
will it do whiteboard animations as well? or do you need their other program?
What program/software do you all use for recording your voice?
Hey, thank you so much for this video !
Question: if you made a video.from this software, where would you go if you wanted to sell it ?
Great review, thank you! This helped me decide to purchase the higher priced version.
Hi Jenn, Can you please suggest me a good software for making educational training videos.
What user friendly programs are good to create characters, objects, and backgrounds to be used in Toonly? Does Doodly do this?
Really cool video, thanks a lot! I realised that some images looked a bit blurry though (like the magnifying glass or the computer, even some characters). Is this due to the zoom in you applied to these images or are they just blurry by nature? Thanks a lot!
There are keyframes for resizing and a few other tweeks, avaliable. For the price it is ok and with a bit of playing around, I think you could get a good basic video.
What kind of lighting & makeup are you using?
Very good review. Any comparisons to similar type of program, at relatively same price (even if monthly subscription alternative)
What were the steps before you downloaded the fonts? I don’t see a plus sign or an upload tab.
Great review. My first look at your channel. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos.
I like this lady. She definitely tells it like it is and I can trust her opinion. Also she’s beautiful
Hey! Thank you for the video. Can I ask you what do you think about AnimationStudio vs Toonly?
what are the restrictions for adding your own objects? png? jpg? file size? Also, can you upload your own backgrounds as well?
Which one the best for video creation
Thank you for the great review! I would like to ask if you have used the enterprised version I am not sure how much better it is than the basic version since it requires you pay around 97 dollars more, it would be great if you could review that version which helps me with my decision whether to get the enterprise version or not. Thank you!
This software is useless. Read their End User Agreement -- you are not allowed to actually make videos unless you purchase the $97 upsell!
hey do you know if the characters you import yourself are able to be animated like there characters are able to?
Great review.. question: Can I NOT use a scene or background and show the animations on white wall??
Does this $67 product comes with any kind of watermark, what's the lock that doesn't allow to create multiple videos for sale?
Are the videos you create in toonly free for commercial use?
Hi, great videos. I'd love to know what is the best cartoon animation software you'd recommend.
Could you do a Vs shootout and free vs paid, etc. I don't have a lot to spend and I want to get the best bang for my buck. Cheers
Just bought toonly and the hand effect does not appear... even though it's announced in the tutorial...please help... :(
Hey, I loved your video, thank you to share this info. One question is, what's the software that you use to record the screen?
I use Screenflow. Thanks for watching!
Sorry if I didn’t see this, but can you import your own animations?
Okay, lets make it short
1. Good Platform overall.
2. Company need to adjust lots of things, etc : process of picking font, set up background music, set up voice over.
3. Company should add more stocks of image, music, fonts, background etc.
4. You can add your own music and images.
5. For $67 lifetime = Its a great deal.
so what program do you like? something easy and not a million dollars?
Can I use TOONLY to create monetized Videos for RUclips? Does the plataform allow it???
So glad I watched. This saved me from wasting my money because I’m looking for customizable characters. Thank you!
Try Vyond :)
Jenn Jager thanks!! I’ll check them out
@@JennJager can you upload your own scene or background in the $67 version?
Constructive criticism here...
You really didn't give a lot of info here that couldn't be found with just trial and error. You do a good job with the basics but for 30 mins I was expecting something more in depth. Overall a good video but it just wasn't what I was looking for. Thanks for your time and keep up the good work! :)
Awesome video review. Quick questions.
How many transitions does Toonly have?
Have you also reviewed Vidello Create, if yes please share the link and also share which one is better between Toonly and Create.
I've always used Videoscribe, but I was looking at Toonly as an alternative. Trying to decide whether to change platform or just outsource to somebody on Fiverr
