    My doctor suggested this but seeing how long that needle is..I think I’d rather just croak to death

      It’s not that bad. I suffer from occipital neuralgia and the chronic pain is way worse than the injections. I get it in different areas (neck/head) about 6 times a year about 10 injection sites each time. It’s been a godsend.

      @@pamriquel my pain is in the left side of my head and mainly my scalp i suffer from neurological vertigo because of it. Is this procedure completely safe?

    • @pamriquel
      @pamriquel 2 года назад +3

      @@Cw-wi6uj yes. I have no problem with it. the reason the needle is so long is that we have thick skin and it needs to go past that. it doesn't cure the problem but offers relief for me for a few months. i get them on the back of my head, neck and by my ear and temple on my right side. the only problem I've had is that it is painful and it sometimes triggers a pain episode for a about a week after. sometimes they don't add enough medicine to the nerve so it feels pinched. I call back and they add more med to the nerve. I live with the vertigo too. I also use antinflammatory creams around my neck because I find when my muscles are tense and swollen it triggers more pain. I am glad I can get this done, it has been a long struggle. Best of luck :).

      @@pamriquel thanks. I too suffer with this and have a new doctor since we moved. He did the nerve block but not at my base but rather where I swell on each side. Where do you get yours. Since I had the block I have been having way more pain and I am thinking this is something I will not do again. It seems to have made things worse. It has been 4 days. The pain came on about 8 hrs after the injections.

      @@chairk4119 I get them on the side but also at the base of my neck. Sometimes for about a week the pain is pretty unbearable but it gets better. If you feel something pinched I would ask for another set which is what I did last time. Lots of anti inflammatory meds. Don’t put anything cold just heat on it. Nerve pain doesn’t do great with the cold and keep your head warm. I’m so sorry you have to go through this as well. I don’t wish it upon anyone.

    I wouldn't mind trying this to elevate Occipital Neuralgia pain and headaches! However, I have been getting Acupuncture Treatment for this and it alleviates my pain and the knots go away. Perhaps a combination of Acupuncture and Nerve Block is the answer? A combination of both treatments. I'm being totally serious.

      Not everyone can afford the anesthesia. In fact most people can't. And insurance won't cover it because this is an outpatient procedure. You come in, get roomed by an MA, vital signs etc, dr sees you gives you the shot and you drive yourself home.

    Nerve blocks are waste of time, at most they give you maybe few weeks of relieve but in some cases the pain will get worst due to injections. RFA would be much better choice, combined with proper physiotherapy.

      The effects of this particular block can be discussed. But stating nerve Blocks in general are a waste of time is simply wrong. Depending of the anatomical site these can extremely usefull.
