But the advantage is, there's a bonus techniques like alternate picking,hybrid,tapping etc. Yeah, kinda like a shortcut. Just slow down the tempo where you're comfortable at. If I remember the song I started on, that would be " If you Want Peace, Prepare for War" by Children of Bodom. And that is incredibly fast as shit, but when I mastered it. Other riffs, becomes more easy to me.
My First Riff was the Intro Riff in Jump in the Fire by Metallica. I learned the whole Song and it was great starting with something like this. You can also start with like punk riffs for getting comfortable with powerchords.
