    Today's NBA makes the 80's and 90's look like prison ball.

    Notice those players who got whacked and fell hard on the ground went up quickly? Today's players woulld have stayed on the ground for 5 mins and some may need a stretcher.

    Three thing the NBA must do:
    1.) Remove Flagrant Fouls(it should be assesed a technical foul rather)
    2.) Remove Defensive three seconds
    3.) Remove hand-checking fouls..

    • @yvngflame4069
      @yvngflame4069 3 года назад +1

      You were right with the 1.) and 3.), but they shouldn’t remove three second violations.

    ...and some people say that defenses during 80s-90s weren't tough like today's and that LeBron would have been unstoppable back then...I disagree!!!!

    • @manoneal1724
      @manoneal1724 10 лет назад +6

      They called less fouls, and were a little more...for lack of a better word...violent, but the NBA defense was nothing compared to what it is today. Now they actual have strategy, game planning and sets. Not to mention they are stronger, faster and overall more athletic. LeBron would have steamrolled through everybody in that decade.

    • @alexvanden
      @alexvanden 10 лет назад +10

      They had strategy then too. It is ludicrous to say they didn't. Everyone today seems to believe LeBron would be such a machine back in the day, but everyone who played back in the day recognises so many of his weaknesses, so in that case he would still be a machine, just a weak one. LeBron would be in the top 20 of the day, perhaps just in the top ten, but most definitely not in the top 5. The reason, LeBron lacks tenacity.
      Once a "big guy" gets smacked upside his psyche, it doesn't matter how athletic he is, that athlete is broken!
      LeBron is tough of body, but weak of heart. And that makes all the difference between star player, and super star player back in the day.
      George Carl said "You'd have to cut Michael Jordan's heart out to beat him". No one has ever been inspired to say anything remotely close to that about LeBron.

    • @alexlanza79
      @alexlanza79 10 лет назад +2

      Kornelus Alexander EXACTLY! Amazing reply! Thanks namesake!

    • @manoneal1724
      @manoneal1724 10 лет назад +3

      Veng Kong 1) This idea that LeBron isn't fundamental is nonsense. People think that the older, less athletic players were more fundamental just because they weren't as athletic. But that's just an assumption. Yes, SOME of them were. But to act like James wouldn't be able to handle their assumed super-human mastery of the game just because he's bigger and stronger is stupid. LeBron understands the game very well.
      2) "Mind games"...please. Stop watching ESPN. Let's see how much those "mind games" help Larry Bird and Kevin McHale when LeBron is charging at them full speed down the paint. Nonsense.

    Hey, you guys know Lebron, the 6’8, 250 pound machine who is faster, quicker, more explosive, and has a better passing ability than nearly every guard in nba history, who finished with the finesse of guys like curry and Jordan, but also with the power of guys like Malone and shaq? The guy who despite his massive size and post presence, is also a great shooter from deep? The guy who has 4 mvps, and more all nba first team selections than anybody in nba history? The guy who is well on his way to pass kareem in all time scoring? The guy who every time he steps on the court, people look completely helpless guarding him? Yeah, he wouldn’t survive 80s basketball because he only has 3 rings and doesn’t have a “killer mentality”.

    This is the reason why the NFL league is so huge today and the NBA has lost its appeal outside of Lebron-Kobe. Fans go to see athletes COMPETE, getting physical, not to see crybabies and whiners of the players to the refs, not to see fouls so soft that they have to be analyzed in slo-mo by the announcers to confirm.

    in 82-83 The great Lakers made 10-3pt shots all season, Magic made ZERO GS makes 10 per/game now Was life more difficult in the paint? Yeah sure...but these 80's guys could not cover the entire floor. Let alone shoot from deep. Hire a few more untalented thuggish "bigs" to bully inside, commit fouls, ect...and watch Steph, Klay, Dramond, Harrison, Iggy destroy with shooting, ball movement, spacing ect The Lakers would be holding their shorts, gasping for air and wondering "who on Earth is Magic going to guard"

    • @markprice5294
      @markprice5294 8 лет назад +5

      Are u stupid if u look at the stats teams didn't shoot 3s like they do now and teams back in the 80s where so much better mid range shooters back then the game was centered around big men , that's why they were so physical in the paint , the game is centered around wing players now which is why u see so many good guards and Small fowards and a dying breed of bigs and it's also the reason why the game is soft , and ur crazy if you think the Lakers teams from the 80s would get killed by the Warriors coming from a Celtics fan , the Warriors are good but they wouldn't beat any championship teams from 1980-1993

      My man.. I was born in the 70's and raised through the 80s and 90s this really happened in every single game during the season... Your are just watching short video clips on youtube.. this is not the full game or season this was real basketball this really happened the physical play fights and also large brawls really happen in the 80s and 90s I witnessed it going to Sixers games.. it was just like watching a NFL football game on a basketball court it wasn't no where soft like today basketball.. I don't understand your generation yall just can't give any respect to the past NBA players that made this game so popular for your generation to enjoy basketball..

  • @jimguirro4173
    @jimguirro4173 3 года назад +1

    Because of the todays era's dribbling the player much harder to defend so today play looks softer,. in 80's 90's era only in the paint is so though so if you drive inside u will taste hell out of u, but if they dribble like today,pass like it probably the same game , that's how magic so good in that era.

  • @chitownkidd33
    @chitownkidd33 10 лет назад +15

    It's easy to cherry pick one game to try and make it seem like the 80s and 90s was some tough era that todays players "wouldn't stand a chance in." Last time I checked fighting and hard fouls have nothing to do with basketball. Watch the film nobody except the bad boys played defense, and that was maybe half the time too. The NBA now is more evolved, the defense is complex, the scouting, rotation, moving your feet. The game has evolved, 80s/90s NBA lovers have not.
