Jawahan was the instigator, photographer of the group. He made sure he made the noise and stayed out of the way and took pictures.

I feel for her loss but I'm sorry if my child was killed in this situation I would be screaming on the stand that there should be charges against the other people for recklessly endangering his life. It's obvious none of this would have happened if they were drunk and high and harassing that man

I agree. I have a household of high-school and middle school football & wrestlers. If anyone has spent a weekend with high-school wrestlers and football players it is a pack mentality. Too much testosterone and bravado not enough frontal lobe development. This is 100% a FAFO situation.

Is it possible for 17 year old young men who wrestle heavy at 220 with cans of beer in their hands to be mislabeled as adults considering the legal age is 21? These aren't kids who didn't know better, these are young men who thought they were 10feet tall and invincible.
Also can we stop acting like this was a 14" hunting blade? That's a little baby 2- 3" utility pocket knife. I've never floated a river, gone fishing, hiking boating or really done anything with out a knife that size or larger. Why?? Because getting tangled in a river or lake can equal drowning.

I completely agree, and Cockfield was the leader of all the other boys. He started it, kept it going….yelling and screaming slandering Mr. Mui which was dangerous all in its own…what if some nut had heard Cockfield calling Miu a pedophile and raper and ran up on Miu and killed him. Entitled society we live in. Nobody should have been killed but if I had a teen kid I’m showing them this case and highlighting how all these things deemed culturally normal are absolutely unacceptable. Drunk minors being bullies. Alcohol is extremely dangerous. Rude and crass behavior is unacceptable and also dangerous. About 12 steps of poor behavior to get to this point. Shouldn’t have gotten stabbed but it certainly isn’t surprising.

One of the google reviews, some good some bad, but this one seems appropriate, I wonder how long my “comment" will stay?:- Tubing the river was not a family experience, so much inappropriate behavior including adult blow up dolls and so many other examples of inappropriate behavior. We will literally never do this again and will ensure we tell everyone we know to never go. A family memory ruined by out of control high school and college kids with alcohol and horrible other behaviors. The staff need to start monitoring the behavior and kicking people out and realize families would bring far more money then pretends adults with alcohol and worse.
Why are they even allowed to show still pictures!? It's ridiculous! They should have to show only the video in it's original form, Because it did not happen slowly in segments! They can all lie without repercussions, but the one on trial must tell the truth, or face consequences. Lies, even innocent ones, are happily pointed out to the jury, until they are convinced the defense is lying and is guilty, bc a prosecutor would NEVER lie to a jury, right!? What comes of the prosecutor or police when they lie? Absolutely NOTHING! Cops are allowed to lie during interrogations. In court, both sides have a narrative, and the only way to fit the evidence into their narrative is by NEVER telling the full story! They don't want the jury hearing the truth, no matter what it is, their primary focus is omitting ANYTHING that doesn't help their case! You can't trust either side to tell the truth! Honestly, if I was one of those jurors, I would've been pissed at the DA for only using the screenshots that help them, rather than telling the full story. I would have a hard time trusting them after that, bc the full video looks NOTHING like the story he was trying to paint with those screenshots! I bet the DA wished those were actual photos and not screenshots from a video, bc it does look bad for the defense, there's no question he'd get a guilty verdict in that case.
Janwahn Cockfield is a terrible fibber and instigated this entire tragedy. He shows no remorse or consciousness of responsibility which is super sad. I hope one day he comes to his senses and comprehends the true nature of what he did and the costs to so many people.
It's not fibbing, it's perjury. But it helps the state, so, conflict of interest to pursue your own witness.

How different would it have gone if Devil Cockfield would have been friendly and cordial to Mr. Miu. Truth prolly is he was mad because Mr. Miu didn’t answer him. What business was it of Devil Cockfield what Mr. Miu was doing. It was a public place and none of his business. He’s a pos in my opinion. I hope he eventually gets charged for instigating the whole situation.

We do not agree with kids going into schools and shooting it up because they were bullied I believe this is a similar situation. The stabbing doesn’t fit the situation 🤷♀️. Entitled teens haranguing people. This escalation was their doing by being rude and obnoxious. The mother of the victim should not be testifying, she wasn't there and isn't adding anything to the circumstances that day. This is a sympathy move for the jury. All these kids saying they were scared, they didn't appear scared when they were slapping him, pushing and verbally abusing him.

@@lynnetmb4706I disagree. I saw extreme anxiety on Mr. Miu’s face, both when the video is played at normal speed, slow motion, and frame by frame. And the “smile” the state claim he made looks like extreme stress to me. I’ve studied human behavior and emotion for years for my work with prisoners & families/persons in crisis and, in my opinion, this was a classic mobbing and the man was in fear of his life.

Every single person in that video did something most people wouldn’t normally do, and you’re cherry picking what the one person did after the fact when he knew they were already out to hurt him? All that matters, according to Wisconsin law, is if be was in fear of his life the MOMENT he stabbed; and in that very MOMENT, he was being attacked by multiple people. They shoved his face in the water after he was always beaten by several people. Someone with chronic health issues (as he does) would be struggling to breathe. People think the act of breathing means you’re fine when all the while you could be losing oxygen in your blood or losing normal lung function (like when you’re taking on water as he did). I PRAY the defense puts a cardiologist on the stand to illustrate how gravely his life was in danger in this mobbing because he/she will be able to explain just how detrimental this attack was on someone in his condition.

This is a huge huge over-reach. The defense attorney is amazing on cross- after all he was part of the Rittenhouse defense team! How did the State think for a minute that these witnesses were strong enough to prove their case? These "boys" have no idea how much weight is on their testimonies. If there was any chance of a guilty verdict the witnesses ,so far, have BLOWN IT!! Why wasn't the ring leader of the name calling not charged with inciting a roit? Had he of kept his mouth shut non of this would have happened. Not guilty!!

At end of Day 1, State discussed with Court how prosecutors had 6 witnesses subpoenaed and they had the audacity to not show up. THAT speaks volumes, folks.

I know I would be mortified! Based on the few of the teens I've seen testify, it seems like over the past 2 years their attitude that Miu was the aggressor hasn't changed. I feel like everyone around them, certainly their parents, haven't helped them to realize their behavior was the catalyst in this ordeal. They all seem to feel emboldened in their entitled attitudes.
MIU approached the group of teens, (“mob”) twice, at least. None of the teens hit a girl that was telling him to go away. None of them stabbed 5 people. None of them hid a murder weapon & lied to friends, family & investigators.
I'd be pretty proud my kids took the teachings we've pounded into their heads through years of schooling on stranger danger. scream. make noise. get the attention of everyone around you. We've told these kids over and over to protect themselves and then they do and get stabbed. These are kids. they don't need to be informed. they don't need to be fully educated because they're still living with their parents, going to high school, and 6 years out from mental maturity.

@@Liesl-Yvette Because the investigators & state’s attorneys that reviewed all the evidence, every frame of the very short video and KNOW the LAW believe the defendant murdered 1 person an attempted to murder 4 others & could not legally claim self defense. Notice the teens are laughing & mocking him & everyone is telling him to go away until when? Until he hit the girl, at which point they had the right to defend her & themselves from someone that committed assault & was armed with a deadly weapon.
His own defense attorney conceded in his opening statement that Miu assaulted the girl, saying, “it was a push, not a hit,” then went over the numerous witnesses that called it a punch and the numerous witnesses that called it a slap or hit.
“A person that engages in unlawful conduct of a type likely to provoke others to attack him or her and thereby does provoke an attack is not entitled to claim the privilege of self defense against such an attack…” Source, WI 939.48 (2, a).
Also, one cannot use deadly force unless they have a reasonable fear that they’re facing imminent death or great bodily injury. He may be found guilty of some charges & not guilty of others. Think he reasonably believed he had to stab the girl or she’d kill him or cause great bodily injury? He escalated the situation multiple times & could’ve retreated, given he was asked/told to retreat over 20 times in about 2 mins.
Jawahan should receive a jail sentence for inciting a fight that cost a friend 's life and several people with serious injuries!!! He is a big, strong guy yet he stayed away and never even went to help his friends!!! 😞😞😞

Every time the video or stills are shown it helps the defense, especially when they are pushing him face down into the water.
Its reasonable that a man, on his own, was in fear for his life, when he is followed by 6 strong teeneagers who are taunting and harassing him, who then incite others to join in to the harassment, who is then surrounded by 11 or 12 strong, drunk people pushing, striking, shoving him face down in the water, knocking him back down when he tries to stand. This is easily self defense.

This is a perfect example of why eyewitness testimony is so unreliable. Its hard to see how the state thinks they have a case here. So far all the prosecution witnesses have only strengthened the defence case and adding in the prosecutions video makes it a slam dunk not guilty.

It sucks to say this but I feel like if Jawan would have minded his business instead of yelling ridiculous false statements he said he looking for little girls (seeking attention to get an arouse out of his friends) I believed he might have said "Where are the girls" He walk up upon a group of guys not knowing if they were drunk or not. He stated he was looking for his gear (Just in case he had to go a little deeper, I am assuming the knife is to encounter any dangerous creatures in the water I have seen fishermen with knives on them in water) Jawan wanted to Bullie an old man and lead his teen friends to help in his goal to be messy. They could have let him pass by looked for his gear, ignored him, and went on their way. Instead, everyone started yelling and taunting him and humiliating him and hitting him because if look at the video 2:23:49 one of the ladies pushes his head you will see his head jerk for a second and he pauses and looks in the water for his gear but within them few seconds in the video were it skips in the video. It does not look like she was punched in the face. I'm sorry but If I get punched in the face I don't immediately continue yelling and screaming I'm throwing punches and dropping my drink. She got punched but within that same punch, she stood firm with her drink. Hmmm, no face holding? no shock? He may have mashed her face with his hand pushing her back or pushing her but the punch is a little strong. So it took four guys to jump on him he went down in the water jawan got his money shot they were holding him as he was being hit as well in the water where one occupant was holding a bottle still in their hand.
He already felt threatened by the false accusation if u look at his face when it was first stated. He thought he was going to have a civil conversation with an adult and I feel like drunk females do what they do best run their mouths and get loud not listening the ladies were hearing pieces and bits of what's going on. Instead of one adult controlling the drunk teens and pushing them back into their area another adult should have asked Mr. Mui what was going on with Mr. Mui. (Ofc he is smiling nervously he is scared prosecutors are making it seem like he just got in the water looking for people not in his group to take action on) He did have open water behind him to walk off into nowhere but he encounters some loud mouth adults then more people started coming over once things escalated. I don't understand why lie when the video is rolling. I saw the teen boys pointing at him and walking behind him and upon him they all were around him when they confronted the supposed adults. Now I wasn't there but this could have been resolved if there were some real level head adults. If he said he was looking for his gear why didn't anyone say okay let's help u so u can get going or tell him to go ahead and look (while the adults pull the boys over to them until he was done) He did touch Jawan tub but it was pushing him in the water like u would do a child that's in the pool calling u a poo head so u push they little tube to float in the middle or deep end (He didn't hit him he didn't scream he wasn't aggressive he didn't say anything he just gave a push and I'm assuming as well to look under the tubes for his gear) He even places his face (Jawan) into the camera just so people can know he captures it all he was the cameraman. He really needed to be validated. I feel that young man would be alive, The victims would be fine and this court case wouldn't exist if Jawan was not there. I believe one of them boys would have helped Mr. Mui throw a little joke his way and went on about their way. I do not believe there was ever a pedophile comment made. He came with his wife and a bunch of old folks. He walks down the stream passing several groups that have women involved it, just to approach the boys group and ask where are the little girls at. He doesn't know these kids but decided to ask to hook up with little girls.

Interesting thoughts about discrimination, I think these kids all seem to be giving a story provided to them instead of their own memory. If each of the kids were separated, you'd get different stories, but the camera doesn't lie. Right now from what I've seen, these kids are saying things they want to believe to be true, and would serve them and their egos.
I'm wondering if they misheard gear as girls, but that would still wouldn't justify assault. Mr Cameraman apparently has never seen videos that initially were intended for WS or YT but ended up elsewhere because a "prank" went sideways.

If you‘ve watched the whole trial, you’d learn that 1st degree murder is different in this state. You don’t have to prove premeditation to be convicted of 1st degree there. However, it also states that to prove self defense, he has to be in fear of his life the MOMENT he stabbed (each time). I feel this is hands down self defense. NOT GUILTY!
Also, involuntary manslaughter is (for example) accidentally killing someone you were wrestling with. According to WI law, 2nd degree intentional homicide would be the most appropriate charge (in my opinion) to get a conviction. Here’s a statement from a WI attorney’s website:
“When Wisconsin rewrote its criminal code, the term "manslaughter" was removed, and the crime of intentional homicide was separated into degrees of first degree intentional homicide (premeditated and deliberated murder) and second degree intentional homicide (murder under mitigating circumstances). I can't believe this was even brought to trial with the amount of evidence that this was self defense. I'll be surprised if he's found guilty. This should have never got to trial. Yes sadly someone lost their life but when one person is being attacked ( provoked or not) by 12,13 etc people that person has every right to defend themselves. The defense attorney is very, very good - but I see the opportunity for acquittal based on the witnesses for the prosecution. So many half-truths, lies, conflicting testimonies. The one who was proudly coy - with both the police and the court - regarding his alcohol consumption was very damning for the prosecution, as it showed that their "star witnesses" were more than willing to deceive - even enjoyed doing it.

I really appreciate his attention to the small details which become the biggest details in the juryroom. IMO, he follows the narrative of the witteness and picks it apart with reason and truths but not in an overwhelming way that may make his clients unfavorable by juries. These young teenagers, not children, big difference, started recording while they were tormenting Nicolae and by their own actions of recording proving that this was simply self defense. If they had not recorded all this, Nicolae would have unjustly been toasted on trial. I'm so glad that these little monsters recorded this because I'm tired of innocent people going to jail. The law is not concerned with biases about kids these days, scary teens &or social media. We should all be grateful for that; imagine how differently you’d feel if that were your teenage son or grandson that was stabbed to death in a river. My parents taught me 2 wrongs don’t make a right, to use self control and walk away when angry or in tense situations, that adults should behave with more maturity & self discipline than minors, to be bigger the person, to talk through problems rather than resort to violence, that the one who hits first is most culpable for an altercation.
The use of deadly force can only be used in self defense when the person reasonably believes there is an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm. Nowhere can deadly force be used in self defense when the person initiated physical assault. “A person that engages in unlawful conduct of a type likely to provoke others to attack him or her and thereby does provoke an attack is not entitled to claim the privilege of self defense against such an attack…” Source, WI 939.48 (2, a). The first person to physically assault anyone was Miu. Also, he had many opportunities to retreat, as he was asked & told to leave, go, get out of here over 20 times in 3 mins.
In fact, the teens had a legal right to defend the woman from great bodily harm when she was assaulted by a man brandishing a deadly weapon. See, WI 939.48 (4)

That’s not walking, that’s a hung jury, in which the state can choose to retry (unless WI has some law against it that I’m unaware of). I feel it’s going to be either hung or flat out not guilty since the video shows him being lunged at or attacked in every moment of recorded stabbing. And in WI, if he is in fear of his life at the SECOND he stabbed, then that’s self defense and simply cannot equate to 1st degree intentional homicide.

The Judge is on point. Once i was surrounded by a group of drunk teens, while walking my dog. Despite it being a full trained Dogo argentino, that is capable of handling business, i was real scared for both our wellbeing, so i can fully understand this man fear. And that kid in the suit contradicts himself on the stand. When initially asked which hand he punched the girl with he said left hand and within a few questions he started saying right hand instead so defense asked again which hand and this time he said right hand all while looking at the prosecutor.
